Introduction
The document describes how to control your BenQ projector via RS232 from a computer.
Follow the procedures to complete the connection and settings first, and refer to the
command table for RS232 commands.
Available functions and commands vary by model. Check the specifications and user manual of
the purchased projector for product functions.

Connections and communication settings
Choose one of the connections and set up properly before RS232 control.

1. Determine the COM Port name used for the RS232 communications in Device
Manager.
2. Choose Serial and the corresponding COM port as the communication port. In this
given example, COM6 is selected.

Settings
1. Find the Wired LAN IP address of the connected projector from the OSD menu and
make sure the projector and the computer are within the same network.
2. Input 8000 in the TCP port # field.

1. Determine the COM Port name used for the RS232 communications in Device
Manager.
2. Choose Serial and the corresponding COM port as the communication port. In this
given example, COM6 is selected.

RS-232 Command Code
1. Each input character will be echoed and All the echo text will be same with the
command you execute except query command
2. When give “Enter”(ASCII 13), it will echo 3E,00. It means projector is ready to accept
RS-232 command.
3. If no any command, it should echo 0D,0A,00 after 5 seconds.(5 sec time out)
4. If the command format is illegal, it will echo “Illegal format”.
5. If the command format is correct, but it is not valid for this model, it will echo
“Unsupported item”.
6. If the command format is correct, but can’t be execute in some condition, it will echo
“Block item”.
Note:1.Item 5 and item 6 is not support at power saving mode (standby power <0.5W).
7. Each input upper case and lower case character should be action.
8. all of status command and power on command should be action when low power
mode(<0.5W)
9. Support volume bar display
10. If system have Lan over RS232 function, The RS232 command can be support, and all
of the LAN over RS232 function behavior follow RS232
11. The response string will be in upper case
12. About inquiry command, please follow current status to Echo.
(Each input upper case and lower case character should be action)
