• Therapy with the Beurer Back belt with TENS device is a proven and natural way of fighting pain, however,
it does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. If you are not sure, consult your doctor before using this
device.

– you suer from epilepsy or certain disabilities,
– you suer from chronic pain conditions that have not been clarified, regardless of the region in the body.
• Persons whose sensitivity is disturbed or impaired should only apply this device under supervision of your
physician.
• Pain relief treatment following injury or an operation should only be carried out under the careful supervision
and instruction of a doctor or physical therapist.
• Consult a doctor before use in the following situations:
– Simultaneous carried out medical treatments.
– Discomfort experienced as a result of the stimulation treatment.
– Persistent skin irritation under the electrodes.
• In case of doubt, consult a doctor or medical professional for instructions and guidance.

• Treatment should be monitored if used on or near children or persons who are handicapped and only have a
limited capability to use this device.
• Packaging materials are a deadly hazard for children and can cause suocation. Remove all packaging materi-
als immediately and keep them away from children at all times.
• Do not use the device while taking a bath or a shower.
• Do not use this device while driving a car or another kind of vehicle or while operating machinery or heavy
equipment.
• Never use the device in rooms where aerosols (sprays) are used or pure oxygen is being administered.
• Do not use with heating pad or any other electrical device.
• Do not use with AC Power source.
• Swallowing batteries and/or battery fluid can be extremely dangerous. Keep the batteries and the unit out of
the reach of children and disabled persons. Should any person swallow a battery and/or battery fluid, please
call 911 immediately.
• Batteries should not be charged or reactivated by any other means. The batteries may explode.
• Batteries should not be taken apart, thrown in the fire or short circuited. The batteries may explode.
• Should battery fluid leak and come into contact with your eyes or skin immediately rinse with plenty of clean
water. Please call 911 immediately.
• Use the unit only with the supplied accessory.
• Do not use this unit when under influence of pain medication, alcohol or sleep aids.
CAUTION:
• Do not use the device if it is not operating correctly, if it has been dropped, if it has fallen into water or if it has
been damaged.
• If you feel pain or have an unpleasant feeling, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
• Do not place the belt on:
– Injured or inflamed areas of skin, such as wounds, spots, rashes or reddening.
– Surgical scars in the process of healing.
– Burning or numb areas of skin.
– Swellings, peeling skin, or other sensitive points.
• To prevent unpleasant electric shocks, never remove the device while it is still turned on.
• Subjective perception of the electric current may alter with changing frequencies or pulse widths. Lower the
intensity as soon as the application becomes unpleasant or the pleasant prickling sensation is not felt for a
long period of time.
• Ensure that during stimulation, no metallic objects can contact the electrodes, as otherwise localized burns can
occur.
• Do not attempt to disassemble, open and/or repair the device yourself in the event of a malfunction. You could
get injured. Moreover this will invalidate the warranty.
• Do not switch the device on until the belt has been fixed on the body.
• Do not use this device while sleeping.
• Do not use with any creams, lotions or gels.
• Do not use this device if suering from menstrual pains.
• Do not use the control unit and belt again until they are completely dry.
NOTICE:
• Do not operate this device near high-frequency transmitters, such as microwaves, short wave transmitters or
radio transmitters. These may impair the device’s ability to function.
• Protect the device from moisture. If liquid should get into the device, remove the battery immediately and
discontinue use. Should this happen, contact our customer service.
• Please recycle. Do not dispose of old batteries with your household waste; dispose of them safely at your
recycling center or business where the batteries were purchased.
• Follow all laws and regulations regarding the proper disposal of batteries and electronic devices that are rele-
vant in your area. Consult your municipal authorities or your dealer for information about proper disposal.
• Never use aggressive cleaning products or sti brushes to clean the device.
• Do not allow water to penetrate the device.
• Do not expose the device to direct sunlight and protect it from dirt and moisture.
• Do not wash the belt in water. Do not wash the belt in the washing machine. Do not tumble dry.
• Do not use bleach when washing the belt.
• Do not dry clean your belt. Do not dry it over anything hot (e. g. a radiator) as it contains plastic parts.
• The belt should never be ironed.

How does stimulation current work?
The back belt works on the basis of transcutaneous (meaning “through the skin“) electrical nerve stimulation
(TENS). TENS is a clinically proven, eective, medication-free method of treating certain types of pain which,
when used properly, is free of side eects. It is also approved as a means of simple self-treatment.
The pain-relieving eect is caused by suppressing the transmission of pain in the nerve fibers (particularly
through high-frequency impulses) and increasing the release of the body‘s own endorphins, which decrease the
sensation of pain.
Every condition that calls for the use of TENS must be clarified by your physician. He or she will also give you
information about the specific benefits of TENS self-treatment.

5. Important Safeguards
WARNING:
• Use the belt only:
– on humans,
– for external use,
– for the purpose for which it was developed and in the manner specified in these instructions for use.
• This unit is not intended for commercial or clinical use, but only for individual, private household use.
• Before use, ensure that there is no visible damage to the unit or accessories. When in doubt, do not use
the unit and contact your dealer or the customer service address provided.
• If you have health concerns of any kind, contact your general practitioner.
• Use the unit in the lower back area only. Using it on other body parts can cause severe health problems.
• A slight reddening of the skin after use is normal and disappears after a short time. Refrain from using the
unit until the reddening has gone away.
• If skin irritation results from a long therapy time, select a shorter application time.
• In case of more severe skin irritation, discontinue treatment and consult a physician.
• This unit is not intended for use by children or persons with physical, sensory (e.g. insensitivity to pain)
or mental impairments or those who do not know how to use it due to a lack of experience or knowledge,
unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions from them
on how to use the unit.
• Keep children away from packaging materials (risk of suocation).
• Do not use attachments that are not recommended by the manufacturer.
• Carry out the first few minutes of treatment while sitting or lying down, so that if you experience a rare va-
sovagal reaction (i.e. you feel faint), you are not at unnecessary risk of injury. If you start to feel faint, shut
o the unit immediately and elevate your legs (for approx. 5 – 10 min.).
• The treatment should be pleasant. If the unit does not function correctly or if you begin to feel unwell or
feel pain, stop using the unit immediately.
• Take o the belt only when the unit is switched o.
• Never apply the electrodes to injured skin areas.
WARNING:
To prevent harm to your health, we urgently recommend that you do not use the unit in the following
situations:
• Do not use the unit if you use a pacemaker or other implants, such as an insulin pump.
• If you have a high fever (e.g. >102 °F/>39 °C).
• If you have known or acute arrythmias or other problems involving cardiac stimuli and their trans-
mission to the heart.
• If you have seizure disorders (such as epilepsy).
• If you are pregnant.
• If you have cancer.
• After operations in which increased muscle contractions could interfere with the healing process.
• On acutely or chronically diseased (injured or inflamed) skin, e.g. painless or painful inflammation or redde-
ning.
• If you have rashes (e.g. allergies), burns, bruises, swelling and open wounds or those in the process of
healing.
• On surgical scars in the process of healing.
• When simultaneously connected to a high-frequency surgical instrument. In this case, burns under the
stimulation current fields can result.
• When under the influence of pain medication, alcohol or sleep aids.
• Whenever doing anything in which an unforeseen reaction (such as increased muscle contraction despite
low intensity) can be hazardous, for example while driving a car or operating machinery.
• On sleeping persons.
• Do not use this unit simultaneously with other units that transmit electrical pulses to your body.
• The unit is suitable for private, individual use.
• For hygienic reasons, the belt may be used by one person only.
• Ensure that during stimulation, no metallic objects can contact the electrodes, as otherwise localised
burns can occur.

The unit must not be used in the following situations:
• In the head area: Here, it can trigger cramping.
• In the neck/carotid artery area: Here, it can trigger cardiac arrest.
• In the throat and larynx area: Here, it can trigger muscle cramps that can cause suocation.
• In the ribcage area: Here, it can increase the risk of ventricular fibrillation and cause cardiac arrest.
Safety precautions
• Do not use the unit in close proximity to shortwave or microwave units (e.g. cell phones), as these can cause
fluctuations of the initial values of the unit.
• Do not use while sleeping, driving a motor vehicle or simultaneously operating machinery.
• Never immerse the unit in water or other liquids.
• Do not use in close proximity to highly inflammable materials, gases or explosives.
Consult a doctor before use in the following situations:
• Acute diseases, particularly in case of suspected or known blood coagulation disorders, susceptibility to
thromboembolitic disease or malignant growths.
• If you have diabetes or other diseases.
• Chronic pain conditions that have not been clarified, regardless of the region of the body.
• Any sensitivity disorders with reduced sensation of pain (such as metabolic disorders).
• Simultaneously carried out medical treatments.
• Discomfort experienced as a result of the stimulation treatment.
• Persistent skin irritation under the electrodes.
WARNING:
• Using the unit is not a substitute for consultation or treatment from a physician.
• Whenever you have any pain or illness, always contact your physician first.
Before using the unit for the first time
CAUTION:
• Before you use the unit for the first time, remove all packaging materials.
• Switch the unit o immediately if it malfunctions.
• If the self-adhesive covers for the electrode connection are missing or become detached, we recommend
urgently that you ax the electrode covers provided.
• Never wear the belt with bare metal electrodes. Using the belt without electrode covers can cause injuries.
• The manufacturer shall not be held liable for damage or injuries caused by improper or incorrect use.
• Protect the unit from dust, dirt and moisture.
• If the unit has fallen or been dropped, exposed to extreme moisture or incurred other types of damage, it
must no longer be used. Do not expose the unit to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Never open or attempt to repair the unit by yourself, as otherwise proper function is no longer guaranteed.
Failure to observe this regulation shall void the warranty.
• If you need to have the unit repaired, contact customer service or an authorized dealer.
Notes on handling batteries
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Children can put batteries in their mouth and swallow them. This
can cause severe harm to their health. In this case, consult a physician immediately.
• Normal batteries must not be recharged, heated or thrown into an open flame (danger of explosion).
• Always replace all batteries at the same time and use batteries of the same type.
• Leaking batteries can damage the unit. If you do not intend to use the unit for a prolonged period, remove the
batteries from the battery compartment.
• Leaky or damaged batteries can cause caustic injuries if they touch the skin. In this case, wear suitable safety
gloves.

7. Before Use
Putting on the belt
Before each use, ensure that your skin is clean and free of creams or oils.
1. Lay out the belt with the electrodes facing you.
2. Moisten the electrodes and your back with water. Ensure that the elec-
trode surfaces are moistened evenly to avoid localised voltage peaks
when they are applied to your skin.
3. Fit the belt around your waist so that the vertical seams Aare at the
same place on each side of your body. The Beurer logo Bis then in the
middle of the spinal column.

When positioned correctly, the electrodes Care slightly to the left
and right of your spinal column.
4. Then, close the fastener.
Ensure that the belt fits tightly enough to provide a good contact between the electrodes and your skin, but
does not constrict.

Extending the belt
If the belt is not adequate for your waistline, you can use the extension belt provided. Depending on your
waistline, the holder for the control unit may be away from the center of your body. It is important that the
belt is positioned so that the electrodes Care to the left and right of the spinal column.
Inserting the control unit
• Insert the control unit into the holder on the belt. If inserted correctly, the
control unit clicks into the holder.
• The control panel should be facing outwards and the display should be
facing upwards and towards you.
Automatic shuto
If the unit is not used after being switched on, it switches o after 3 minutes.
Changing the batteries
If the battery status indicator [6] flashes, change the batteries. To
insert or replace batteries, remove the control unit from the holder
of the belt.
1. Release the magnetic connection by gently pulling the control unit
away from the belt. You can feel the magnetic connection of the two
contact buttons release.
2. Pull the unit upwards and out of the holder.
3. Open the battery compartment [4] by pushing the cover downwards
at the arrow.
4. Insert 3 AAA Alkaline Batteries. Ensure the correct polarity.
See the diagram inside the battery compartment.
NOTICE:
• Do not use rechargeable batteries.
8. Operation
General information about use
The back belt is intended for individual treatment of pain in the lower back area.
NOTICE:
• Do not switch on the unit until the belt is fitted correctly. See Section 5.
Switching on the unit
Press and hold down the on/o button [1] until the unit beeps and the LCD display [5] switches on.
When the unit is started for the first time, Program A is activated automatically.
Selecting the program
Press the program button P [3] to change programs. The following programs are available:
Program Frequency Time
A 4 Hz –110 Hz (3 phases) 30 min.
B 4 Hz 25 min.
C 2 Hz (burst) 25 min.
D 100 Hz 25 min.

Note:
For program A, the eect becomes stronger when switching from phase 1 to phase 2 (after approx. 10 min-
utes). If the intensity seems too high, decrease it using the ▼intensity button [2].
Note:
If you change the program during treatment (for example from A to B), the initial intensity in the new
program increases incrementally to the previously set intensity. This can be stopped by pressing the ▼
intensity button [2] for two seconds or by switching o the unit by pressing the on/o button [1] for two
seconds.
Stopping impulses that are too strong
You can decrease the intensity at any time or switch o the unit by holding the on/o button [1] (approx. 2 sec-
onds).
Adjusting the intensity
Press the ▲intensity button [2] to increase the intensity incrementally or press the ▼intensity button [2] to lower
the intensity. You can adjust the intensity in 20 Increments. Depending on the intensity level, you may feel a
prickling at first that can escalate to a muscle contraction. Select a setting that is within your comfort level.
Preventing unwanted pulse changes
To prevent an accidental increase in intensity during a treatment session, activate the keylock by pressing the
program selection button P [3] for approx. 2 seconds. The unit beeps and the “ ” symbol appears in the
display [5].
To cancel the keylock, press and hold the P [3] button for approx. 2 seconds.
Reacting to unpleasant sensations
If you feel a stinging or itching sensation, switch o the unit and proceed as follows:
• Check whether the electrodes are working properly.
• Check whether the round cover is still present over the electrode connections.
• Take o the belt and moisten it completely once again.
• When refitting the belt, ensure good skin contact and good moistening.
Inserting a pause
If you want to take a break or pause a program, press the Pause button [1] briefly. The unit beeps and the “II”
pause symbol flashes in the display [5]. You can resume the program by pressing the Pause button [1] again.
Contact detection
If the electrodes have no contact with the body, the intensity is set automatically to zero. This prevents unwanted
stimulation. The intensity cannot be increased without contact with the body.
Memory function
The unit stores the most recently configured program.
After a battery change, the unit starts with the first program again.
9. Cleaning and care of the unit and belt
Cleaning the unit
• Remove the batteries from the unit before each cleaning.
• Clean the unit with a soft cloth moistened slightly with water after use. If the dirt is heavier, you can also mois-
ten the cloth with a mild soap solution.
• Ensure that no water penetrates the device.
• Do not use any chemical cleaners or abrasives for cleaning.
NOTICE:
• The belt and control unit are not suitable for machine washing.
Cleaning the belt
Once you have removed the control unit from the belt, clean the belt using a soft cloth and a mild soap solution
or liquid detergent. Do not use bleach.

10. Troubleshooting
Problem/question Possible cause/remedy
The unit does not switch on when
you press the ON/OFF button.
1. Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly and have contact. The
on/o button must be pressed and held down to switch the unit on.
2. If necessary, replace the batteries.
3. Please contact customer service.
No stimulation can be felt. 1. Increase the pulse intensity incrementally.
2. Press the on/o button to restart the program.
3. The batteries are almost empty. Replace them.
You feel an unpleasant sensation
from the electrodes.
The electrodes are poorly moistened. This can lead to skin irritation, as
the current is no longer distributed evenly over the entire surface. Switch
o the unit. Take o the belt, moisten the belt (electrodes) and your lower
back and restart the program according to the manual.
The skin in the treatment area
becomes red.
Discontinue the treatment immediately and wait until the skin returns to
normal. Temporary skin reddening under the electrode is harmless and
is a result of increased blood flow. However, if the skin irritation persists
and you feel itching or irritation, consult your doctor before continuing
use.

We reserve the right to make any technical alterations that are necessary in order to improve and develop the
product further. If the unit is used outside of the specifications, proper function is no longer guaranteed.
We recommend having the manufacturer perform a metrology check every 2 years.
12. FCC Information
Changes or modifications to the product not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance
could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
Note:
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant
to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a residential installation.
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in ac-
cordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no
guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interfe-
rence to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment o and on, the user is
encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
– Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
– Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

– Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit dierent from that to which the receiver is connected.
– Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
13. Warranty
Limited Lifetime Warranty For Original Purchaser
Your Beurer back belt with TENS device, Model EM 38, excluding the battery, is warranted to be free from
defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product under normal conditions of intended use and
service. This warranty extends only to the original retail purchaser and does not extend to retailers or subsequent
owners.
We will, at our option, repair or replace the Beurer back belt with TENS device, Model EM 38, without additional
charge, for any part or parts covered by these written warranties. No refunds will be given. Repair or replacement
is our only responsibility and your only remedy under this written warranty. If replacement parts for defective ma-
terials are not available, Beurer reserves the right to make product substitutions in lieu of repair or replacement.
For warranty service contact our customer service department at 1-800-536-0366 or at [e-mail] to
provide a description of the problem. If the problem is deemed to be within the scope of the limited lifetime
warranty, you will be asked to mail the product at your costs in its original package with proof of purchase, your
name, address and phone number. If the problem is not deemed to be within the scope of the limited lifetime
warranty, we will provide a quotation for repair respectively replacement and return shipping fee.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or abuse; accident; the attachment of unauthorized
accessory; alteration to the product; improper installation; misapplication; lack of reasonable care with respect
to the product; unauthorized repairs or modifications; improper use of electrical/power supply; old worn battery;
normal wear; loss of power; dropped product; malfunction or damage of an operating part as a result of failure to
comply with instructions for use or to provide manufacturer’s recommended maintenance; transit damage; theft;
neglect; vandalism; or environmental conditions; loss of use during the period the product is at a repair facility or
otherwise awaiting parts or repair; or any other conditions whatsoever that are beyond the control of Beurer. This
warranty is void if the product is ever used in a commercial or business environment. The maximum liability of
Beurer under this warranty is limited to the purchase price actually paid by the customer for the product covered
by the warranty, as confirmed by proof of purchase, regardless of the amount of any other direct or indirect
damage suered by the customer.
This warranty is eective only if the product is purchased and operated in the country in which the product is
purchased. A product that requires modifications or adaptation to enable it to operate in any other country than
the country for which it was designed, manufactured, approved and/or authorized, or repair of products dama-
ged by these modifications is not covered under this warranty.
THE WARRANTY PROVIDED HEREIN SHALL BE THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY. ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTIES, OBLIGATIONS, OR LIABILITES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WAR-
RANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATI-
ON TO THE DURATION OF THIS APPLICABLE WRITTEN WARRANTY. Some states do not allow limitations

¿Cómo actúa la corriente estimulante?
El cinturón de espalda funciona mediante estimulación nerviosa eléctrica transcutánea (“a través de la piel”)
(transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, TENS). TENS es un método sin medicamento, clínicamente probado
y eficaz para tratar ciertos tipos de dolor y que, cuando se usa adecuadamente, no causa efectos secundarios.
También está probado como un medio de autotratamiento simple.
El efecto de alivio del dolor es causado mediante la supresión de la transmisión del dolor en las fibras nervio-
sas (particularmente a través de impulsos de alta frecuencia) y el incremento de la liberación de las endorfinas
propias del cuerpo, las cuales disminuyen la sensación de dolor.
Cada padecimiento que indique el uso de TENS debe ser definido por el médico. Este también le proporcionará
información acerca de los beneficios específicos del autotratamiento con TENS.

5. Salvaguardas importantes
ADVERTENCIA:
• Utilice el cinturón exclusivamente:
– en personas,
– para aplicaciones externas,
– con la finalidad para la que ha sido desarrollado y de la forma que se indica en estas instrucciones de
uso.
• Este aparato no está previsto para uso industrial o clínico, sino exclusivamente para uso particular en el
ámbito doméstico.
• Antes de su aplicación es preciso asegurarse de que el aparato y sus accesorios no presenten daños visi-
bles. En caso de dudas, no lo utilice y consulte a su distribuidor o a la dirección del Servicio de Atención al
Cliente indicada.
• Ante cualquier duda acerca de los efectos sobre la salud, consulte a su médico de cabecera.
• Utilice el aparato exclusivamente en la zona inferior de la espalda. La aplicación en otras partes del cuerpo
puede ocasionar problemas graves de salud.
• La piel puede enrojecerse ligeramente después de usar el cinturón. Este enrojecimiento es normal y desapa-
rece al cabo de poco tiempo. Vuelva a utilizar el aparato cuando la piel deje de estar enrojecida.
• En caso de producirse irritaciones en la piel durante tratamientos largos, reduzca el tiempo de aplicación.
• Si las irritaciones son muy fuertes, interrumpa el tratamiento y consulte a un médico.
• Este aparato no está previsto para ser utilizado por personas (incluidos los niños) con discapacidad física,
sensorial (p. ej., insensibilidad al dolor) o mental, o que no posean suficiente experiencia y/o conocimien-
tos, a no ser que lo hagan bajo la vigilancia de una persona responsable de su seguridad o que hayan
recibido de esta persona las instrucciones adecuadas para poder usar el aparato.
• Mantenga a los niños alejados del material de embalaje (peligro de asfixia).
• No utilice piezas de repuesto que no estén recomendadas por el fabricante.
• Durante los primeros minutos de utilización del cinturón, manténgase sentado o acostado para no correr
riesgos innecesarios de lesión en el caso improbable de que se produzca una reacción vagal (sensación
de desmayo). Si nota una sensación de desmayo, apague inmediatamente el aparato y ponga las piernas
en alto (durante aprox. 5 – 10 min.).
• El tratamiento debe resultar agradable. Si el aparato no funciona correctamente o percibe algún malestar o
dolor, interrumpa de inmediato la aplicación.
• No se quite el cinturón sin haber desconectado previamente el aparato.
• No aplicar los electrodos sobre zonas con la piel levantada.
ADVERTENCIA:
Se recomienda no utilizar el aparato en los siguientes casos para evitar daños en la salud:
• No utilice el aparato si es portador de marcapasos cardíaco u otros implantes, como por ejem-
plo, una bomba de insulina.
• Fiebre alta (p. ej., >102 °F / >39 °C).
• Si se conocen arritmias cardíacas agudas u otras alteraciones en la formación y conducción del estímulo
eléctrico en el corazón.
• Trastornos convulsivos (p. ej., epilepsia).
• En caso de embarazo.
• Enfermedades cancerígenas.
• Después de operaciones cuyo proceso curativo se podría ver negativamente afectado por las contrac-
ciones musculares intensificadas.
• Enfermedad aguda o crónica de la piel (lesiones o inflamaciones), p. ej., inflamación dolorosa o indolora,
enrojecimiento.
• En erupciones cutáneas (p. ej., alergias), quemaduras, contusiones, hinchazón y heridas abiertas o en
proceso de curación.
• En cicatrices de intervenciones quirúrgicas en proceso de curación.
• Estando simultáneamente conectado a un aparato quirúrgico de alta frecuencia. Los campos de corriente
estimulante podrían causar quemaduras.
• Bajo la influencia de analgésicos, alcohol o somníferos.
• En todas aquellas actividades (por ejemplo, al conducir un vehículo o manejar una máquina) que puedan
resultar peligrosas por la aparición de una reacción inesperada, como, por ejemplo, un pequeño aumento
de la contracción muscular.
• Personas que estén dormidas.

• No utilice este aparato simultáneamente con otros aparatos que transmitan impulsos eléctricos al cuerpo.
• Este aparato está indicado para el uso particular.
• Por razones de higiene, el cinturón debe usarlo siempre la misma persona.
• Durante la estimulación, evite el contacto de cualquier tipo de objeto metálico con los electrodos; de lo
contrario, pueden producirse quemaduras puntuales.
No utilizar el aparato en las siguientes partes del cuerpo:
• En la cabeza: puede desencadenar ataques epilépticos.
• En el cuello / zona de la carótida: puede desencadenar un paro cardíaco.
• En la zona de la faringe y la laringe: puede provocar agarrotamiento muscular y asfixia.
• Cerca del tórax: aumenta el riesgo de fibrilación ventricular y, consecuentemente, de paro cardíaco.
Medidas preventivas
• No utilice el aparato cerca de equipos de onda corta o microondas (p. ej., teléfonos móviles), ya que estos
podrían causar alteraciones en los valores de salida del aparato.
• No utilice el aparato si tiene sueño, al conducir un vehículo o al manejar varias máquinas simultáneamente.
• No sumerja nunca el aparato en agua o cualquier otro líquido.
• No lo utilice si se encuentra cerca de sustancias, gases o explosivos fácilmente inflamables.
Antes de utilizar el aparato, consulte a su médico en caso de:
• Enfermedades agudas, especialmente si hay indicios o existencia de trastornos de la coagulación sanguínea,
propensión a enfermedades tromboembólicas, así como neoformaciones malignas.
• En caso de diabetes u otras afecciones.
• Dolores crónicos sin diagnosticar, independientemente de la zona del cuerpo

• Siempre que tenga dolor o alguna enfermedad, primero consulte a su médico.
Antes de la puesta en marcha
PRECAUCIÓN:
• Antes de utilizar el aparato, retire todo el material de embalaje.
• Apague la unidad de inmediato si funciona mal.
• En caso de que las cubiertas autoadherentes para la conexión de los electrodos se hayan despegado o se
hayan perdido, se recomienda utilizar las cubiertas de protección adjuntas.
• No se coloque nunca el cinturón con los electrodos descubiertos. El uso del cinturón sin la protección de
los electrodos puede causar lesiones.
• El fabricante no se hará responsable de los daños causados por un uso incorrecto o indebido.
• Proteja el aparato del polvo, la suciedad y la humedad.
• Si el aparato ha estado expuesto a una humedad excesiva, o ha sufrido una caída o cualquier otro tipo de
daños, no debe seguir utilizándose. No exponer el aparato a temperaturas elevadas o a la radiación solar
directa.
• No debe abrir ni reparar el aparato en ningún caso; de lo contrario no se garantiza su correcto funciona-
miento. La garantía expirará en caso de inobservancia.
• Para cualquier reparación, diríjase al servicio de asistencia técnica o a un distribuidor autorizado.
Indicaciones para el manejo de pilas
• No deje nunca las pilas al alcance de los niños. Podrían llevarse las pilas a la boca y tragárselas, lo que su-
pondría un grave riesgo para su salud. En caso de que esto suceda, acuda inmediatamente al médico.
• Las pilas normales no se deben recargar, calentar ni arrojar al fuego (¡peligro de explosión).
• Cambie siempre todas las pilas al mismo tiempo y utilice pilas del mismo tipo.
• Las fugas en las pilas pueden ocasionar daños en el aparato. Si no va a utilizar el aparato durante un período
prolongado, retire las pilas del compartimento.

7. Antes de usarse
Colocación del cinturón
Antes de cada aplicación, asegúrese de tener la piel limpia y libre de
cremas o aceites.
1. Coloque el cinturón con los electrodos de frente a usted.
2. Humedezca con agua los electrodos y su espalda. Asegúrese de que la
superficie de los electrodos se haya humedecido uniformemente para
evitar posibles picos de tensión sobre la piel al aplicar el aparato.
3. Colóquese el cinturón alrededor de la cintura de tal forma que las
costuras perpendiculares Aqueden dispuestas, a izquierda y derecha,
en el mismo punto del cuerpo. De esta forma, el logotipo de Beurer B
debe quedar en el centro de la columna vertebral.

4. A continuación, enganche el cierre adhesivo.
Para asegurar un buen contacto entre los electrodos y la piel, compruebe que el cinturón esté bien ceñido
al cuerpo, pero sin que le apriete.
Alargamiento del cinturón
En caso de que el cinturón sea demasiado corto para su perímetro de cintura, utilice la correa extensible
incluida en el suministro Dependiendo del perímetro de cintura, el alojamiento de la unidad de control
puede quedar alejado del centro del cuerpo. Para asegurar el posicionamiento correcto del cinturón, es
importante que los electrodos C se encuentren a la izquierda y a la derecha de la columna vertebral.
Utilización de la unidad de control
• Introduzca la unidad de control en el alojamiento del cinturón. Conecte la
unidad de control pulsando la tecla de encendido.
• El panel de control deberá quedar hacia afuera y la pantalla hacia arriba y
hacia usted.
Desconexión automática
Si la unidad no se usa después de encenderse, se apaga en 3 minutos.
Cambio de la pila
Si el indicador de batería [6] destella, cambie las baterías. Para
insertar o reemplazar las baterías, retire la unidad de control del
portador del cinturón.
1. Libere la conexión magnética retirando con cuidado la unidad de
control del cinturón. Puede sentir la desconexión de los dos botones
de contacto de la conexión magnética.
2. Retire la unidad hacia arriba y fuera del portador.
3. Para abrir el compartimiento de la batería [4], presione la tapa hacia
abajo en la flecha.
4. Inserte 3 pilas alcalinas AAA. Verifique que la polaridad sea la correcta.
Vea el diagrama dentro del compartimiento de baterías.
AVISO:
• No use baterías recargables.
8. Manejo
Indicaciones generales de utilización
El cinturón lumbar está indicado para el autotratamiento de dolores en la zona baja de la espalda.
AVISO:
• Antes de conectar el aparato, compruebe que se haya colocado correctamente el cinturón. Consulte la
sección 5.
Encendido
Presione y mantenga el botón de encendido [1] hasta que la unidad emita un sonido y la pantalla LCD [5] se
encienda.
Al poner en marcha el aparato por primera vez, se activa el programa A automáticamente.

Selección de programa
Presione el botón de programa P [3] para cambiar programas. El aparato tiene disponibles los siguientes programas:
Programa Frecuencia Tiempo
A 4 Hz – 110 Hz (3 fases) 30 min.
B 4 Hz 25 min.
C 2 Hz (pecho) 25 min.
D 100 Hz 25 min.
Nota:
Para el programa A, el efecto se hace más fuerte cuando se cambia de fase 1 a fase 2 (después de aproxi-
madamente 10 minutos). Si la intensidad parece muy alta, disminúyala con el botón de intensidad ▼[2].
Nota:
Si usted cambia el programa durante el tratamiento (por ejemplo, de A a B), la intensidad inicial en el nuevo
programa se incrementa gradualmente hasta la intensidad establecida previamente. Esto puede detenerse
al presionar el botón de intensidad ▼[2] durante dos segundos o al apagar la unidad al presionar el botón
de encendido [1] durante dos segundos.
Interrupción de la intensidad cuando es demasiado alta
Puede disminuir la intensidad en cualquier momento o apagar la unidad al mantener presionado el botón de
encendido [1] (aproximadamente 2 segundos).
Ajuste de la intensidad
Pulse la tecla ▲[2] para aumentar progresivamente la intensidad o la tecla ▼[2] para reducirla.
La intensidad puede ajustarse en 20 niveles distintos. Según el nivel de intensidad, puede sentir un piqueteo al
principio que puede aumentar a una contracción muscular. Seleccione un ajuste que esté dentro del nivel de
confort.
Ajuste la intensidad de tal modo que el uso del aparato le resulte agradable.
Evitar cambios de intensidad no deseados
Para prevenir aumento accidental de la intensidad durante la sesión de tratamiento, active el seguro de botones
al presionar el botón de selección de programa P [3] durante aproximadamente 2 segundos. La unidad emite un
sonido y aparece el símbolo “ ” en la pantalla [5].
Para cancelar el seguro de botones, presione y mantenga así el botón P [3] durante aproximadamente 2 segun-
dos.
Cómo actuar si nota sensaciones desagradables
Si siente pinchazos u hormigueo en la piel, desconecte el aparato y proceda de la siguiente manera:
• Compruebe que los electrodos estén en buen estado.
• Compruebe que las conexiones de los electrodos conserven la cubierta redonda.
• Quítese el cinturón y vuelva a humedecerlo completamente.
• Asegúrese, cuando vuelva a usarlo, de que exista un buen contacto con la piel y que esté bien humedecido.
Introducción de una pausa
Si desea tomar un descanso o pausar un programa, presione el botón Pausa [1] brevemente. La unidad emite un
sonido y el símbolo de pausa “II” destella en la pantalla [5]. Puede reanudar el programa al presionar nueva-
mente el botón Pausa [1].
Detección del contacto
En el momento en que los electrodos no detecten el contacto con el cuerpo, la intensidad se ajustará al nivel
cero de manera automática. Con ello se evita que se produzcan estímulos no deseados. Si no existe contacto
con el cuerpo, no es posible aumentar la intensidad.
