Your MR620includes one battery pack
for each handset.
To remove the belt clip
It is easierto fit the batteries without thebelt clip
in place.
Pull the tabforward(away from the handset)
to release the belt clip. Then lift the belt clip
off.

Battery meter
The battery meter is located in the left cornerof the LCD panel. It looks
like abattery with threebars inside. These indicate the amount of
power available.As the power is used the bars willdisappear. When the
battery level reaches its minimum level, the handsetwill emit two beep
tones andautomatically turn OFFthe power.

Safety Warning before
you charge thebatteries
When placing the handset in the charger, use only the
rechargeable battery packsupplied with the MR620.
Don't try torecharge non-rechargeable batteries.
Make sure the battery compartment coveris securelylocked in
place when you are charging the batteries.
Dispose of used batteries safely and in a way that willnot harm

the environment never try toburn them or put them anywhere, they
could get burnt or punctured.
Don't leave dead batteries in your handset.
They might leak if you do.
2.Charging the batteries
Connect the main power
lead to the charger
socket.
Plug the mains adaptor into
a 230V AC ,50Hz main socket
with the switch on the socket
set to OFF.
Then switch on the main socket.
Place the handsets in the
charging cradle.
It takes about 10 hours to recharge thebatteries fully if they've
become completely run down. New batteries take up to 14 hoursto
charge fully.
The charge light comes
on when a handset is put
on charge.
To fit the belt clip
Slide the belt clip down into the slot until it clicks
into place.
Transmitting range
The talk range depends on environmentaland terrain. It will be
greatest (up to about 3km or1 3/4 miles) in wide openspaces,
without obstructions such as hills or buildings. Don't try touse two
PMR handsets which are less than1.5m (5feet)apart.If you do, you
may get interference.
Important safety warning
To reduce radio frequency exposurewhen you're using your MR620,
hold the handset at least 5cm(2inches)fromyour face.
Never use your MR620 outdoors ina thunderstorm.
Don't use the MR620 in therain.
If your MR620 ever gets wet,turn it off and remove the batteries.Dry
the battery compartment and leave the cover off for afew hours. Don't
use the handset until it iscompletely dry.
Keep the MR620 out of thereach of babies andyoung children.
To switch your PMR ON&OFF
To switchthe PMR ON.
Press and hold the ON/OFF button untilthe channel number is
displayed & you hear a beep.
To switchthe handset OFF
Press and hold the ON/OFF button untilthe display goes
blank.
You hear amusical tone each time to confirm.
Battery life
The MR620has a built in power saver feature to make the batteries
last longer. Butwhen you are notusing the handset, it'sbetter to
switch itoff to save the battery power.
3.Using the Personal Mobile Radio(PMR)
Volume control
To adjustthe loudspeaker volume
Press the UP or DOWN button.
Changing the channels and sub-channels
MR620has eight channels, numbered 1to8. To communicate with
otherPMR users within range, you mustall have your PMRtuned
to the same channel.
Press the MENU button once
The current channel number flashes on thedisplay
Press the UP or DOWN buttons to go to the channelyou want

Eachchannel also has 38 sub-channels(sometimes callCTCSS codes)
lettingyou set up groups of userswithin the same channels,for more

To turn the sub-channel function off, simplyset the sub-channel to
0(zero).Then you can communicate with any PMR useron the same
channel who also turned off sub-channel operation(or whose PMR
handset does not have the feature).

Transmitting and Receiving. _
MR620 transmission is 'one way-at-a-time' while you are
speaking, you can not receive atransmission.

MR620 is an open-license band always identify yourselfwhen
transmitting, as other people may becommunicating on the same
channel.
To speak to another handset user
Press and hold the TALK button sothat the Transmitting
symbol ( ) appears on the LCD panel.
Speak clearly into the microphone, ina normal tone - don't
shout
When you're finished speaking, release the TALK button.

To listen to another handset user
Make sure you are not pressingthe TALK button
Receiving symbol ( ) is shown on the display when theother
person is speaking. Don't try to transmituntil they have finished.
Monitoring the current channel
Normally the MR620 will not pick up very weak signals. But you can
monitor the current channel for all sounds.
To activate monitoring feature
Press and hold the MENU and DOWN buttons atthe same time.
The receiving symbol ( ) appearson the display.
Your handset willpick up any signals on the current channel,
including background noise.
Press the TALKbutton to stop monitoring.
VOX(voice activated transmission)mode
In VOX mode yourhandset will transmit wheneverit detects your
voice (or other noise) without theTALK button having to bepressed.
It will transmit for 2 secondseven if you stoptalking.
The level of VOX sensitivity isshown by Numbers onthe display. At
the highest level, the handset willpickup softer noise(including
background noise); at the lowest level,it will pick uponly quite loud
noise.
To turn VOXmode ON and OFF:
Press the MENU button Three times
VOX icon is displayed andOF flashes on the LCD panel.
Press the UP button toset the level of sensitivity.(3maximum)
If you press the DOWN buttonuntil OF appears on the display,
vox is turned off.
Ring tone
You can send ring toneto other handsets withinrange and tuned to
the same channel,(and sub-channel if applicable),to alert them you
want to communicate with them.
Press and release the CALL button
You will heara ring tone for about twoseconds, while the
transmitting symbol( ) appears on theLCD panel. Any other
handset within range and tuned tothe same channel will
hear Ring tone, and may decideto transmit to you.
Selecting Call-Ring tones
Press the MENU button four times, the unit will enter

Call-Ring setting mode. The LCDwill display 1while 1
is flashing.
Press the UP or DOWN button tochange the Call-Ring tone.
(5 different tones),the different Call-Ring tones can beheard
during changing.
Press the TALK button to confirm your setting after you select
your desired Call-Tone.
Setting Call-Ring off
If you don't want to hearthe call tone, youcan set Call-Ring mode
to OFF. In this stage,you can send theCall-Ring(default Call-Ring
number 1) to the other party,but you will nothear the tone.
Press the TALK button to confirm the setting.
As long as the handset is in VOX mode, VOX is shownsteadily
on the display.

The PMR must be charged using the mains
adaptor provided. Using any other adaptor will
result in non-compliance with EN60065 and will
invalidate any approvals & warranty.

To fit the batteries
Do not removethe sleeve from
the battery pack.

To end the Dual Watch mode
Press the MENU button Seven times.
The channel number flashes on thedisplay.
Press the UP or DOWN button until "OF " isshown on the
display.
Press the TALK button to exit from the Dual Watch mode.
Scanning Channels
When the Scan function is turned on,the handset will continuously
scan through all eight channels andall 38 sub-channels untilit
finds one on which another useris transmitting.
Press MENU and the UP buttons at the sametime.

SCAN appears on the display,and the channel number
changes. When a signal is detected,the unit will pause.
Press the UP button to continue scanning 1 to8 channel.
Press the DOWN button to scan the Sub-channels.
Press the TALK button to stop the scan and communicate or
DOWN button to continue scan.
Locking the buttons
With the buttons locked you cantransmit (Talk), receiveor
monitor(MON) the current channel. But you change the volume
( ) or use the MENU button.
To lock the buttons

To cleanyour MR620, use a soft cloth dampened with water. Do not
use cleaners or solvents, asthese may cause damage which isnot
covered by the guarantee.

Cannot charge Make sure the mains power leadis firmly plugged

and that mains power is switchedon at the socket.
Make sure the handset is correctlyin place in the
charging cradle, with its battery compart-ment
cover locked shut.
Use only the rechargeable battery pack, as
supplied with the unit. Youmay need to replace the
battery pack with a new one after many hoursof use.
The BinatoneMR620 is fully guaranteed for 12 months from the date of
purchase shownon your sales receipt. The guaranteedoes not cover
damage bymisuse or negligence, or by excessivevoltages.
Please keep your sales(till)receipt-this is your guarantee. You
should alsokeep the original packaging material.
When youfirst unpack your Binatone MR620,check forvisible damage.
If yousee any damage, don't use thehandsets-return the whole system
to whereyou bought it .
If yourBinatone MR620 develops a fault, firstcheck the points inthe
troubleshooting section.
If youcan't solve the problem, return the wholesystem as follows;
While the unit is under Guarantee
1 Pack up all parts of your MR620,usingthe original packaging.
Remember to include the mains adaptor.
2Return the unit to theshop where you boughtit, making sure you
take your sales receipt.
3In the unlikely event thatyou need to return yourMR620 to our
Repair Centre while it is under Guarantee, please send your sales
receipt with it, There will be a 5 handling charge for repair under
Guarantee.
Repair after the Guarantee has expired
Ifthe unit is no longer underGuarantee, first follow steps1as for
repair under Guarantee. Then...
2 Call our Service Department on 0845 345 9677 and ask for a
quotation ofthe repair charge and details of where to send your
MR620 for repair.
3 Returnyour MR620 to the address givenby the Service
Department, making sure you include your name and address,
and acheque or postal order for the value ofthe repair charge.
This does not affect your statutory rights.

Roger Beep ON/OFFsetting
The roger Beep is a Tone which is automatically transmitted
whenever the TALK button isreleased. This lets theother person know
that you have finished talking andyou are now inreceive mode.
To enable or disable the Roger Beep tone

Press the UP or DOWNbutton to enable ("ON" will appear on the
display) or disable ("OF" will appear onthe display) the
key tone feature.

Key tone ON/OFF setting
This feature allows the handset tosound a confirmation tone
whenever keys are pressed.
To turn the Key-Tone ONor OFF
Press the MENU button Six times. The " icon flashes
on the display.
Press the UP or DOWNbuttons to enable (' will appear on
the LCD )or disable (' Will appear on the LCD) the key tone
feature.
Press the TALK button to confirm your setting.
Dual-Watch-Monitor thecurrent channel plus one other atthe same

The display switches backwards and forwards betweenthe two
channels. If the handset detects a signal on either channel, it willstop

Built-in Flashlight
As an added feature, your MR620has a built-in flashlight.
Press and release the FLASH LIGHT button to turn the light
ON and OFF.
Using a hands free kit(Headset)
You can plug a hands-freekit (not supplied asstandard)into the
socket on the top of yourMR620 handset. With ahands-free kit, you
may wish to transmit in VOXmode, but if youfind that this doesn't
work very well ,youcan turn the VOX sensitivity off andpress the
TALK button to transmit, as normal.
