IONIZER
Thisappliancehasanoptionalionizerfeaturewhich,
whenturnedon,releasesnegativeionsintooutgoing
filteredairtohelptheairpurificationprocess.
What Are Ions?
Ionsaretinyparticlesthatcarryapositiveornegative
charge.Theyexistnaturallyaroundus:intheair,water,
andground.Bothpositiveandnegativeionsarecolorless,
odorless,andcompletelyharmless.
How Does The Ionizer Work?
Negativeionshelpairpurificationbyattaching
themselvestoverysmallairborneparticlesintheroom.
Theseparticlestakeonanegativechargeandmayjoin
withpositivelychargedparticlessuchasdust,pollen,
smoke,andpetdandertoformlargerparticles.These
largerparticlesarethenmoreeasilycapturedbythe
filtersystem.
Important Notes:
Yourionizermayproduceanoccasionalpoppingor
crackingsound.Thisisnormalandoccurswhenasmall
buildupofionsisdischarged.
Afterextendeduse,youmaynoticedustaroundthegrills
orfrontpanel.Thisiscausedbynegativeionsexitingthe
airoutlet,evidenceoftheionizer’saircleaning
effectiveness.Youcanremovethedustwithasoftbrush
orclean,dampcloth.
Largerparticlesmaybeattractedtopositivelycharged
surfacesthroughoutthehome,likewallsorfloors.
• Thismayoccurmorefrequentlywhenthefilteris
nearingtheendofitsusableproductlifeandis
unabletocaptureasmanychargedparticles.
• Excessiveamountsofpetdander,dust,orsmokemay
decreasethelifeexpectancyofthefiltersand
interferewiththeionizationprocess.
Tohelppreventparticlesfromattractingtosurfaces
throughoutyourhome:
• Youmaywanttoruntheionizerlessoften.
• Checktheconditionoffiltersmorefrequently.
CAUTION:Theionizerinthisapplianceproducesless
ozonethantheULestablishedlimitsof50ppb.However,
inhighconcentrations,ozonecanbeharmfultobirdsand
smallpets.Topreventozonebuildup,wesuggestusing
theionizerinwellventilatedareaswiththefanon.

illuminatelettingyouknowthepowerisonand
runningatHighsetting.Toturntheaircleaneroffat
anytime,pressthepowerbuttonandallbuttonlights
willgooff.
3. Youcanthenselectthedesiredspeedsetting.Thisair
cleanerhasthreespeedsettings.Youcanselectfrom
HIGH(3),MEDIUM(2),orLOW(1)bypressingthe
desiredoperatingspeedcontrolbuttononthecontrol
panel.Thecorrespondingbuttonlightwillilluminate
toindicatewhichsettingbeingselected.
4. Toreleasenegativeionsintothefilteredair,pressthe
IonizerButton( )andthebuttonlightwill
illuminate.
5. Thisunithasabuiltinmemoryfunctionthatwill
recallthelastsettingfromtheprevioususe.This
memoryfunctionwillonlyoperateiftheunitremains
pluggedinbetweenuses.
NOTE:Theionizerwillnotworkunlesstheunitis
running.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Cleaning the unit:
1. Turnoffandunplugtheaircleaner.
2. Theoutsideoftheunitcanbecleanedwithasoft,
cleandampcloth.
3. Theairinletgrill(seefigure1)canbecleanedwitha
soft,cleandampcloth.
4. Thefilteredairoutletcanbecleanedofdustwitha
smallsoftbrush.
5. Ifyouwishtocleantheinsideoftheaircleaner,
pleaseonlyuseadry,softclothtowipeitdown.DO
NOTWASHtheAer1®filters.ThePre-filter(D)canbe
washedbyusingamilddishsoapandwater.Rinse
thoroughly.Allowtoairdrycompletelypriorto
reinstallingintotheAirInletGrill(E).
6. NEVERusedetergents,gasoline,glasscleaner,
furniturepolish,paintthinnerorotherhousehold
solventstocleananypartoftheaircleaner.
WARNING:Donotallowmoisturetocomeincontact
withthemainhousingoftheaircleaner.
FILTER REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Everyfewweeks,checktheconditionoffilters.Filterlife
willvary,dependingonairqualityandusage(see
below).Undernormalconditionsofcontinuoususe,the
Aer1®TotalAir,OdorandSmokeFilterwilllast4months
whiletheAllergenandAllergenPerformancePlusFilter
willlast12months.
Afterapproximately12monthsofoperation,theFilter
CheckIndicatorLight( )willilluminatetoalertyouto
servicethefilter.
To replace your filter:
1.Turnoffandunplugtheair
cleanerbeforeattempting
toreplacethefilters.
2.Removeeachofthefilters
fromtheunitbypulling
themgentlytowardsyou.
3.DiscardtheAer1®filters.DO
NOTattempttocleanthem.
4.Removeprotectiveplastic
bagsandinstallnewAer1®
filtersintotheunit.
NOTE:Ensureproper
assemblyofthefilterclipto
thefilter.Attachthefilterclip
andfilterassemblytotheair
cleanerhangtabs:
• Makesurethehangtabis
securelyinplace.Alignthe
cliponthesideofthe
Aer1®filterwiththerails
ontheinsideoftheunit.Gentlyslidethefilteronto
therail(seeFigures2and3).
THIS APPLIANCE HAS A POLARIZED PLUG (one blade is wider than the
other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a
polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to
install the proper outlet.
