1.5. Connection to Host
<Beginning of configuration>
Every storage is shipped with default parameters and only few parameters needed to be changed by users.
The quick installation guide included in the package explains how to configure necessary parameters via
front LCD panel. Users may also follow Sec. 2.7 to use Web management interface (GUI) for
configuration.
Before staring, please make sure all drives were installed and configured as Quick Installation
Guide explained.
<Steps for power on initialization after critical parameters changed>
①Press and hold “Mode” button besides LCD panel and power on the storage. LCD should show
“RAID n Normal”
②Simply connect USB3.1 cable from host PC to the storage (Plug Type-C flippable cable to storage
side and connect the other side to your host computer. Two different type cables are included in the
package.)
③Power on the host system.
④Host system should detect the disk volume in few seconds. If you still could not find the connected
device, you might try to re-insert USB cable on device or host. (earlier version of USB3.1 HBA was
reported to have issues of plug & play. Please check with your HBA vendor) The unit is ready for
use. Refer to chapter 3 for disk format if you are not familiar with.
DVPro initializes itself within seconds and conducts internal cache error check within five minutes. You
can start data access any time after disk Partition and Format without waiting for completion of cache
error check. Performance of the disk will be affected at first five minutes due to overhead of such check.
※Connect Thunderbolt 3 hosts to the storage following same steps using Type-C to C cable

Chapter 2 Setup and Monitor
2.1. Operation Overview
To simplify the process of setup, DVPro is designed to support necessary configuration from front panel
LCD and button operation. The default RAID level is RAID 6 for highest reliability. To prevent malfunction,
parameters cannot be changed at regular operational (Monitor) mode. The device needs to be in
Parameter Setup mode (Setup mode here after) to be changed. Under Monitor mode, LCD will show
“RAID n Normal”as long as no failed events occurred. Any error identified, or status changed will be
dynamically reflected to its respective indicators such as LED light, buzzer alarm, and LCD display etc.
Only if you wanted to change parameter setting, should anyone choose to switch the device onto Setup
mode. DVPro needs to be re-booted for Mode change to avoid malfunction.
Critical parameters including Disk size, number of drives, and RAID mode should have been
pre-configured while hard drives being installed. If not, you will need to properly configure them before any
operation. Default parameters, if any, are followed with “*” sign on LCD display. Front LCD panel acts as a
short path for device configuration yet Web GUI is for users looking for more information of the storage.
Some information can only be retrieved via LCD such as real-time disks or host access speed.
2.2. Introduction of Setup Mode: by LCD Panel Operation
This section explains how to use front LCD panel to configure the storage.
To start with configuration, the storage has to be in its Setup mode. Use one hand to press and hold both
“MODE”and “SELECT”buttons on LCD panel, another hand to turn on the storage. “ARRAY
PARAMETERS SETTING” will be displayed on front LCD indicating the system in Setup mode. (The
hold time of MODE and SELECT buttons is about 3 seconds) This step is a bit tricky but to avoid
malfunctioning during operation.
ARRAY PARAMETERS
SETTING!
You can then start the modification of necessary parameters under this mode.
General usage of front panel Buttons explained as below:
MODE Button: To rotate among Parameter items
SELECT Button: Select and set the parameter value for change
●Enter Parameters Setting mode
:MODE Button +SELECT Button + Power On
●Rotate among Setup items
:MODE Button
●Setup parameters
:SELECT Button
After any parameter modified, press both MODE and SELECT button at the same time to save the
change..

DVT06U3
When you successfully save the change of parameters, you will see below message shown on LCD
POWER DOWN
PLEASE!
You can then shut down the storage.
If you power down the storage before saving operation, modified parameters will be ignored.
● Save parameters
①MODE +SELECT Button (Save)
②Shutdown
● Cancel the change
Power off while doing change
To have the new configuration effective (RAID mode, Disk size, and Drive mode), hold down the MODE
button and switch on the storage for system initialization. (Release the MODE button as long as you see
LCD showing RAID n Normal.) Then host can identify the new disk and you can format the disk. If none of
critical parameters were changed, you can just power on the storage. The storage will be running normally
in status Monitor mode from here.

remember to Save before power cycle the unit.
Note. It is a good practice to always record parameters changed.
⚫Disk Size Setup
DISK Size
xxB
Disk size will NOT be automatically detected and should be manually configured. This size will be
applied to configure all drives. Actual disk capacities should be equal(usually) or larger than this configured
size. The supported disk size varies from different firmware version. If your disk capacity is not supported on
the list, please check with vendors you bought from or our website Support.

Note: Factory default and suggestion is RAID 6 with 6 drives.
⚫Recovery Rate Setup
RECOVER RATE
5Min. /GB
Recovery (Rebuild) operations utilize elapsed time between host data access without interrupting the

DVT06U3
current host application.
Therefore, data read/write priority can be adjusted through different recovery rate setting.
User can choose the timing to execute recovery operations as below.
Parameter
Function
Memo
RECOVER
WAIT
TIME 0 Sec
Recovery request will be processed immediately between host
commands. Recovery will always be processed therefore host
access will be slow down. Select this mode if you want the
recovery have high priority.
RECOVER
WAIT
TIME 0.1 Sec
Continuous host commands will be processed first. Recovery
operation will be taken care when the interval between host
commands longer than 0.1 sec. The following host command has
to wait till one recovery task completed except READ/WRITE or
READ Cache command which will be executed immediately.
Default
RECOVER
WAIT
TIME 1 Sec
This can be used when host access is not concentrated.
The wait interval following the last host command is 1 sec. On this
mode, the recovery operation will not be processed if the host
commands are continuous with less than 1 sec internal.
RECOVER
WAIT
TIME 10 Sec
Usually this should not be used.
Probably this mode can be applied if there is very little host
access.
RECOVER
RATE
2Min./GB
5Min./GB
10Min./GB
20Min./GB
This is to assign the recovery time for 1GB capacity despite of
interval to wait between host commands.
There is possibility 1GB recovery cannot be completed
within assigned interval.

2.5. Change Network Parameters by front panel operation
Under Setup mode, users can change network parameters such as Management IP addresses described
below by front LCD panel operation. Nevertheless, Web UI is usually recommended for such
requirement if accessible. To Change IP address via LCD/Button takes much more time and is
sometimes frustrated.
ps)Please take a memo before you apply to change the setting. Default IP (IPv4) address
is 192.168.50.210. Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
2.5.1 Method to setup Ethernet IP address by front panel
In case necessary to configure IP address by front panel, follow below steps to set it up.
1.Press both MODE and SELECT buttons, power up to enter Setup mode.
ARRAY PARAMETERS
SETTING!
2.Press the SELECT button (instead of MODE to set up critical parameters)
Firm ware is

Firmware version will be displayed
After then, press front Mode button to change network parameters. You will see current IP address
displayed on LCD as below
● IP Address Setup
IP Address
192.168.50.210
By pressing SELECT button, the IP Address will be increased from leftist digit.
The longer you hold the SELECT button, the faster the number is increased.
Press the MODE button to move to next digit/segment. (Again, Management GUI is recommended)
● Address Mask Setup
Address Mask

This is to setup IP address mask same as IP setup. Use the same way to change address mask as
described above for IP address.
If you wanted to continuously change other parameters you can keep pressing MODE button to roll
among other parameters as Sec 2.4 explained. Or you can press MODE+SELECT button to save the
change and restart the storage to take new network parameters effective. Do not forget the save
operation otherwise network parameters will not be changed.
