Instructions for use
Whenusingelectricalappliances, basic safetyprecautionsshould
always be followed, including the following:
• Read all instructions.
• This BODUM® coee grinder is intended for grinding coee beans
for domestic use only. Do not use it to grind anything else as this
could damage the appliance.
•
Before operating this appliance for the irst time, read all the
instructions. Failure to observe the instructions and safety notes
may result in hazardous conditions.
• After unpacking the appliance, check it for damage. If in doubt,
do not use it and contact your dealer.
• Keep the packaging materials (cardboard, plastic bags, etc.) out
of the reach of children (danger of suocation or injury).
•
This appliance is designed for household use only. Do not use
outdoors. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or
in a heated oven.
•
The manufacturer rejects any liability for damage or injury caused
by improper or unreasonable use. Do not use the appliance for
anything other than its intended use.
• Do not allow children to play with the appliance.
• Never touch the appliance with damp or wet hands. Do not touch
the mains cable or plug with wet hands. Always unplug the appli-
ance by holding the plug, not the cord. Do not let the cord hang over

stove. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug
or after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has been dropped or
damaged in any way. Return the appliance to the nearest authorised
service facility for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical
adjustment.
• The use of any accessory attachment, not recommended or sold
by the appliance manufacturer, may result in ire, electric shock
or injury to persons.
• In the case of a fault or malfunction, switch the appliance o; do
not attempt to repair it yourself. Make sure repairs to the appli-
ance are carried out only by a customer service workshop that is
authorised by the manufacturer. Failure to comply with the safety
notes above can compromise the safety of the appliance.

Never attempt to change the mains cable of the appliance as
special tools are required for this. To ensure continued safety of the
appliance, if the cable needs to be repaired or changed, have this
carried out exclusively by a customer service workshop authorised
by the manufacturer.
• Unplug from the electrical socket when not in use, before putting
on or taking o parts and before cleaning. Never immerse the item
in water: remember this is an electrical appliance.
• Switch o the appliance and disconnect from the power supply
before changing accessories or touching parts that move during
use.
• Clean the appliance using a brush or damp cloth only.

To protect against ire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not
immerse the cord, plugs or the unit in water or other liquids.
• Avoid contact with moving parts.
• Do not permit children to play with the device.

Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply if it is

Instructions for use
• This appliance should not be used by children. Keep the appliance
and its cord out of the reach of children.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or
near children.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of
experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised and been
instructed in using the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.

the appliance.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manu-
facturer, the service agent or similarly qualiied persons in order
to prevent danger.
• This appliance can be used by persons with physical, sensory or

are supervised or have been given instructions on how to use
the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards
involved. Children must not play with the appliance.
• Check the hopper for the presence of foreign objects before use.

INSTALLATION
QUANTITY
CONTROL
Place the appliance on a stable lat surface which is neither
hot nor near a heat source. The surface must be dry. Keep the
appliance and its mains cable out of the reach of children.
Ensure that the voltage indicated on the rating plate of the
appliance corresponds to the mains voltage in your area.
(Use a residual current device (RCD) or seek the advice of
an electrician.) While the appliance is in use, the mains plug
must be accessible in case of an emergency.
If the power point is unsuitable for accommodating the
plug on your appliance, have the power point changed by a
licensed electrician.
HOW TO USE
THE ELECTRIC
GRINDER
Fill the bean container (3) with the desired amount of beans.
Put the lid (5) on the bean container. Place the ground cof-
fee container (2) in position. Choose the desired degree of
ineness that the ground coee will have by adjusting the
coarseness setting wheel (6). Push the ON/OFF switch (7)
from the symbol «O (OFF)» to the symbol «I (ON)» and then
push the START/STOP button (8) to start the grinding process.
Push the START/STOP button again if you want to stop the
grinding process.

GRINDING
CONTROL
The main adjustment positions indicated on the control for the
degree of grinding are normally suicient. The degree of grind-
ing can be adjusted by turning the coarseness setting wheel (6).

If the three adjustment positions do not precisely match your
personal taste you can also grind your coee by choosing
any intermediate position.
IMPORTANT
INSTRUCTIONS Always keep the lid (5) of the bean container tightly shut in
order to enjoy the full taste and aroma of your coee beans.
Never grind more coee than you actually need.
The quantity of ground coee you need to make your coee
depends on the type of bean, the degree of grinding and
your personal taste.

GRINDER The BODUM® coee grinder uses conical burr grinders,
which are the best grinders you can get. The burr spins more
slowly than the wheel model, which makes it quieter and
less messy. You can use a conical burr grinder for oily or
lavoured coees and it is not likely to clog like other kinds of
grinder. These are the best.
CLEANING THE
GRINDING GEAR Disconnect the mains plug from the socket outlet. Discard
any remaining beans in the bean container and remove it by
twisting in an anticlockwise direction as far as the release
area stop (3) and lifting it from the housing.
A soft-bristle brush is ideal for cleaning the grinding gear.
Reassemble the machine by performing the above operation
in reverse order. The housing, lid (5), coee bean container
(3) and inlet cover (4) are easy to clean with a damp cloth.
The ground coee container (2) is dishwasher-proof.
Any other servicing should be performed by an authorised
service representative.
POLARIZATION FOR US CUSTOMERS ONLY.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other).
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will it in a polar-
ized socket in one way only. If the plug does not it correctly
in the socket, reverse the plug. If it still does not it, contact a
qualiied electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.
Warning: In order to prevent the motor from overheating, do
not grind more than 1 full container in succession. Then wait
5 minutes to let the motor cool down before restarting.

•Lassen Sie Kinder nicht mit dem Gerät spielen.

Berühren Sie das Gerät niemals mit feuchten oder nassen
Händen. Berühren Sie das Netzkabel oder den Netzstecker
nicht mit nassen Händen. Ziehen Sie das Netzkabel immer
am Stecker und nicht am Kabel aus der Steckdose. Lassen Sie
das Kabel nicht über die Kante eines Tischs oder einer Arbeits-
läche hängen oder heiße Oberlächen (auch Herde) berühren.
Benutzen Sie ein elektrisches Gerät nicht, wenn das Kabel oder

INSTALLATION Stellen Sie das Gerät auf eine stabile, ebene Oberläche, die
weder heiß, noch sich in der Nähe einer Wärmequelle bein-
det. Die Oberläche muss trocken sein. Halten Sie das Gerät
und das Netzkabel außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern.
