Battery Relocation Kit - Instruction Sheet
Fits Slash 5 thru R100 dual and mono shock airheads.
Please read all instructions before beginning.
Regarding battery removal and installation:
Removal - take the negative off first.
Installation - put the positive on first.

2 Foam Cushion - 1” x 6” each for Battery Hold Down

Locate these parts in your kit and lay them out in this manner. This is the layout in
which they will attach to your sub frame.
The item on the left is the LEFT TRAY SUPPORT, the item in the center is the BATTERY TRAY
and the item on the right is the RIGHT TRAY SUPPORT.
Typically, you will attach the LEFT and RIGHT TRAY SUPPORTS to the holes on each side of
the sub frame that are farthest to the back.
This early /5 sub frame does not have any holes. If this is the case, loosely fit the
Battery Tray and Tray Support assembly onto the sub frame. Position for best
fit, then drill one hole in each side for attachment.
Attach the LEFT and RIGHT fiberglass TRAY SUPPORTS to the sub frame with two 6mm button
head socket cap screws (1 per side), flat washers and lock nuts. Leave the nuts slightly loose.
Please note, you may need to ream the holes in the Tray Supports a little, due to variations
between the sub frames.
Set the fiberglass BATTERY TRAY onto the SUB FRAME SUPPORTS and attach with four 6mm
button head socket cap screws (2 per side), flat washers and lock nut. Leave the nut slightly
loose.
Refer to the photo for tray positioning and screw locations.
Once you are certain all holes are aligned and the tray is fitting properly, finish tightening all the
nuts.
Set the 6.5” x 9” ANTI-SLIP MAT onto the BATTERY TRAY and set the Odyssey PC680 battery
onto the tray as shown in the photos.
Position the aluminum Battery Strap in place as shown in the photo. If necessary, use one or
both of the 1” x 6” foam cushions to fill the gap between the top of the battery and the Battery
Strap. Secure the Battery Strap in place with two 6mm button head socket cap screws, washers
and lock nuts.
REMINDER
Regarding battery removal and installation:
Removal - take the negative off first.
Installation - put the positive on first.
You will connect the Negative Battery Cable to one of these holes where the rear fender
had been bolted. Grind or sand the paint down to bare metal where the Negative Battery Cable
will attach to the sub frame to ensure a good electrical connection.
IMPORTANT: Test fit the cable first to determine which hole it reaches best. Typically it
should reach the right hole.
Connect the Negative Battery Cable to the sub frame as shown in the photo. Attach with the
supplied 6mm hex head cap screw, flat washers and lock nut.
Do Not Connect the negative cable to battery at this time.
Connect the Positive Battery Cable Extension to the existing positive battery cable end with 6mm
hex head cap screw, flat washers and lock nut. Wrap thoroughly with Black Electrical Tape.
Connect the Positive Cable to the battery FIRST, then connect the Negative Cable to the battery.
Use the included zip ties to secure the cables to the sub frame and tidy up your work.
Turn on the ignition switch to check for proper connection. Check the lights or horn first.
Make certain the transmission is in neutral and test the starter.
Please Note: After or during your first test ride, check to see if the tire has rubbed the bottom of
the tray. If so, you may want to consider taller and/or stiffer rear shocks.
This photo shows the same Battery Relocation Kit fitted on a /5 Short Wheel Base sub frame and
on an R80 Long Wheel Base mono shock sub frame.
Using our Starter Cover in conjunction with this kit really cleans up the look of the airhead.
