Operation
Non-Maintained
The lamp is normally off and battery on automatic charge {green LED on) when the A.C. supply is healthy. Solid
state circuitry automatically switches the lamp on when the A.C. supply is interrupted.
Maintained
The lamp is normally on when the supply to the switched live is on. The battery is on automatic charge {green
LED on). Lamp will switch on or remain on if A.C. supply is interrupted.
Monitoring
The green LED indicator lamp will be on continuously. It will go out if A.C. supply or charger fails
Fault Finding and Corrective Action
1 Green LED indicator not illuminated: A.C. supply is not connected or battery not connected or the
charger has failed.
2 Unit is not meeting the required emergency duration: The fitting may need cycling. Discharge then
recharge for full 30 hours. Retest. The battery may need replacing it emergency duration is still not
achieved.
Battery Replacement: (N.B. Replace with BRITEK BRI0116CELL only)
1 Switch off the electricity at the mains
2 Allow batteries to fully discharge then reconnect to supply and allow charging for 30 hours
3 Test again for 3 hours, if light does not remain lit change the battery pack as follows:
a Remove the shell from the body by easing each of the 4 lugs off the body using a
5mm flat screwdriver
b Unplug the battery lead from the circuit board
c Remove the battery lead from the housing
d Write current date on the new battery pack
e Fit new battery pack into the housing
f Plug battery back into circuit board
g Refit the shell and press each of the 4 lugs to ensure they are fully located
h Restore power and allow charging for 30 hours
I Perform full operation check and update test record.

Installation
Note: Some LED Luminaires come with a female connector to the light and a male connector to the driver. If this
is the case disconnect the male lead from 5 & 6 and the female lead from 3 & 4 on the terminal block, and
connect the male lead to 3 & 4 and the female lead to 5 & 6 on the terminal block.
Ensure the mains supply is isolated before attempting installation!
Please refer to the diagram above for mains supply, driver and lamp connections.
1 Remove the lid
2 Connect the AC supply to the battery (Connection points 1 and 2) on an externally fused supply
3 Connect the LED Indicator to the green (Connection points 7 and 8) 6 pin terminal block
4 Connect the DC side of the driver (for maintained) to the top adaptor lead (if supplied)
N.B. If no connector leads are supplied connect the driver directly to the Connection points 3 & 4
5 Connect the LED Luminaire to the middle lead (if supplied)
N.B. If no connector leads are supplied connect the LED and driver directly to the Connection points 5 & 6
6 Once wiring is complete, ensure the lid is fixed in place using the screw on the base. If external
plug and socket connectors are used without means to prevent accidental disconnection, the
remote box should be sited so that it is protected from unauthorised disconnection.
A recessed mount can be found inside the packaging carton to assist installation of the indicator LED. Once
installed, the indicator LED will be illuminated and the supply should be left undisturbed for a minimum of 24
hours to charge the batteries before attempting a commissioning test. After a successful test, the date should
be noted on the space provided on the battery. Commissioning should be recorded on the commissioning page.

Commission & Testing
The emergency light must be tested and inspected regularly in accordance with local codes of preactice.
Note: for safety reasons, tests should be carried out during daylight hours
The minimum recommended test schedule is as follows:
After installation, allow 36 hours to ensure full battery charge, and then interrupt the supply; check after 3
hours that the luminaire is still lighting.
1 Daily - Check that the charge indicator LED is working
2 Monthly - interrupt the power supply for a short period and check the lamp
remains illuminated
3 Six Monthly - interrupt the supply and check that the lamp remains illuminated after 1
hr
4 At the end of the 3rd year, and annually thereafter - check 3 hour duration: batteries
must be replaced when they can no longer support 3 hour operation
5 Complete record sheet on installation and retain in maintenance file.
6 Update file with on-going test records for inspection by fire officer or other duly authorised
person.
