(chimney)of fuelburning equipmentto preventbackdrafting. Followthe heatingequip-
mentmanufacturer’s guidelines and safetystandards such asthose published by the
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating,
RefrigerationandAir ConditioningEngineers(ASHRAE), andthelocal codeauthorities.
5. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other
hiddenutilities.
6. Ductedfans must alwaysbe vented tothe outdoors.
7. Donot use thisunit with anyseparate solid-statespeed control device.
8. Toreduce the risk offire, use onlymetal ductwork.
9. Thisunit mustbegrounded.
TOREDUCE THERISK OFARANGE TOPGREASE FIRE:
A. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and
greasyspillovers thatmay ignite. Heatoils slowlyon lowor mediumsettings.
B. Alwaysturn hoodON when cooking athigh heat or whenflambeing food (i.e. Crepes
Suzette,Cherries Jubilee, PeppercornBeef Flambe’).
C. Cleanventilatingfansfrequently. Greaseshouldnot beallowed toaccumulateon fanor
filter.
D. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface
element.
