TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: The water flow from your shower head
has changed, and there seems to be less water
flowing from the shower head than normal.
SOLUTION 1: Occasionally, there may be reduced
water flow through the filter (model FF-15) inside
the USF. This is common in areas with high levels
of sediment in the water supply, or if the water is
supplied by a well. This reduced flow can be fixed
by following the steps below:
1. Open the USF: Grasp the back half of the USF
tightly. Using your other hand, turn the front half
of the USF counter-clockwise until the two halves
are separated.
2. Remove the FF-15 Filter Cartridge, flip 180
degrees, and then put the Cartridge back into
the Filter Housing in the back half of the USF.
3. Close the USF by screwing the two halves back
together tightly.
4. Turn water on and check for leaks. Tighten the
connection as necessary. Flush the FF-15 Filter
Cartridge by running the shower for 2 minutes,
or until the water runs clear.
SOLUTION 2: The FF-15 Filter Cartridge has reached
capacity and should be replaced.
PROBLEM: Water is leaking from the Universal
Shower Filter (USF).
SOLUTION 1: Ensure that the connections between
the shower head and USF and between the USF and
the shower arm are tightened suciently, as to not let
water escape when the water is turned on.
SOLUTION 2: Check to see if there is a sucient
amount of plumber’s tape covering the threaded
portion of the shower arm, and the threaded portion
of the USF. If not, clean o the old plumber’s tape and
apply two new layers.
SOLUTION 3: Remove the USF and ensure that the
washer that is supposed to be inside the inlet collar is
not broken, and has not compressed into the shower
arm. If this has occurred, contact Brondell Customer
Service at 888-542-3355 to order a replacement.
When reinstalling the USF, take care not to over-
tighten the inlet collar.
SOLUTION 4: Place the rubber washer in front of the
shower head connection and attach your
shower head.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
When installing the VivaSpring Universal Shower
Filter (USF) or changing the FF-15 Filter Cartridge for
the first time, rubber gloves are recommended for a
better grip on the housing.
While installing or re-installing the USF, we
recommended wrapping a rag or small towel around
the inlet collar before you tighten with a wrench to
avoid scratching the finish.

INSTALLATION
1. Remove your existing shower head from the shower
arm (pipe) by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Clean away any debris that may be on the threaded
portion of the shower arm. Wrap the included
plumber’s tape tightly around the shower arm
threads 2 or 3 times to prevent leaking.
3. Unscrew the protective caps from both ends of the
USF and discard properly.
4. Screw the USF onto the shower arm (pipe)
clockwise until tight. Use an adjustable wrench to
tighten the connection if needed.
5. Wrap the included plumber’s tape tightly around
the threads on the USF’s shower head connection
2 or 3 times. Re-install your shower head by turning
it clockwise, by hand, until tight. Use an adjustable
wrench to tighten the connection if needed.
6. Turn water on and check for leaks (see the
Troubleshooting section in the event of a leak).
Flush the FF-15 Filter Cartridge by running the
