6.Operation of the Variable Voltage Transformer
a. Installation of the variable tranformer
b. Connect transformer to electrical mains
(1) Always place the transformer in an environment that is:
- Well ventilated.
- Not exposed to direct sunlight or heat sources.
- Out of reach of children.
- Away from water moisture, oil or grease.
- Away from any ammable substance.
(2) Check the specications of the electrical appliances to be used with the transformer.
Make sure that the combined total wattage ratings of all the appliances to be used
simultaneously won't exceed the maximum amp rating of the transformer.
(3) Make sure all appliances are turned off before connection.
(4) Connect your appliance or appliances to the transformer. If your device has an earth
connection and you connect the device via the screw terminals, you have to connect
it to the earth connection of the transformer.
(1) Set the desired output voltage.
(2) Switch on either the voltage transformer or the power supply.
(3) Switch on the appliances one by one. Note that after applying the load, the voltage level
can drop and may need to be readjusted.
(1) The VC 1000 and VC 3000 models have to be connected to the power supply via a
socket. The VC 5000 and VC 10000 models have to be connected to the power
supply using screw terminals.
(2) The input voltage must be disconnected before connecting the VC 5000 and VC 10000 models.
(3) Connect the variable transformer to the power supply. Regardless of whether you
connect the variable transformer via the IEC socket or via the screw terminals, make
sure that the ground connection of the variable transformer is connected.
