1. Double click on the Install folder that was created during the software decompression.
2. Double click on your model.
3. Double click on "Setup.exe"
4. Choose your Country/Language and click OK.
WARNING: Canadian English speakers should select USA, not ENG.

5. Choose Local Connection (USB), and then click NEXT. The installation continues.
6. When prompted to connect the machine, connect the interface cable between the Brother
machine and your computer.
a. Using both hands, use the plastic tabs on both sides of the machine to lift the scanner
cover until it locks securely into the open position.
b. Connect the USB cable to the USB socket marked with a USB symbol.
- Machines with a Wired LAN Port: You will find the USB socket inside the machine
on the right as shown below.

- Machines without a Wired LAN Port: You will find the USB socket inside the
machine as shown below.
c. Carefully route the USB cable into the cable channel and out the back of the
machine. Connect the cable to your computer.

d. Using both hands, grasp the plastic tabs on both sides of the machine and gently close
the scanner cover. Make sure that the cable does not restrict the cover from closing, or an
error may occur.
NOTE: Ensure you connect the cable to the USB port on your Brother machine. We
recommend a USB type A/B cable that is no longer than 6 feet, directly connected between
the Brother machine and the computer.
7. Plug in the power cord to turn the Brother machine on. The installation should
automatically continue.
8. The installation will continue automatically and the screens will appear one after
another. Please wait. It will take a few moments for all the screens to appear. Do not try to
cancel any of the screens during this installation.
NOTE: If asked: Would you like to install this device software? Click INSTALL.
9. When the On-Line Registration screen is displayed, make your selection and follow the
on-screen instructions. Once you have completed the registration click NEXT to continue
the installation.

10. The "Setup Complete" screen will appear:
-If you do not want to set your machine as the Default Printer, uncheck Set as
Default Printer. Click NEXT.
-(MFC-J625DW/J825DW/J835DW) If you do not want to print a trial photo after the
computer restarts, uncheck Trial Photo Print.
11. Select Yes, I Want To Restart My Computer Now and click FINISH.The computer
will restart.
NOTE: After restarting the computer you must be logged on with Administrator rights.
12. Once the computer restarts, the following screens will appear:
-When the Check for Firmware Updates screen appears, choose the firmware
update setting you want and click OK.
-When the Brother Product Research & Support Program starts up, follow the
on-screen instructions.
-(MFC-J625DW/J825DW/J835DW) If the Trial Photo Print screen appears, follow
the on-screen instructions to print a test photo.
NOTE: Internet access is required for the firmware update and the Brother Product
Research & Support Program.
