Intended use
The grill lighter is designed exclusively for lighting charcoal and briquettes. It is only intended for
private use and isn’t suitable for commercial use.
Use the grill lighter only as described in these operating instructions. Any other use is
considered as improper and can lead to property damage or even personal injury. The grill
lighter isn't a children's toy.
The grill lighter is only designed for outdoor use and may not be used indoors.
The manufacturer or dealer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper or incorrect use.
Keep the operating instructions for further use. If you pass the grill lighter on to a third party, be
sure to include these operating instructions.
The operating instructions are based on the standards and rules applicable in the European Union.
If abroad, also observe country-specic guidelines and laws. The operation instructions can be
requested from the customer service in PDF format.
Explanation of symbols
The following symbols are used on the product, in the operating instructions or on the packaging.
Read the operating instructions carefully before using the grill lighter for the rst time
and keep them for future reference.
Declaration of conformity (see chapter "Declaration of conformity"): Products marked
with this symbol comply with all applicable regulations of the European Economic
Area.
The "Certied Safety" seal (GS mark) certies that a product complies with the
requirements of the German Product Safety Act (ProdSG). The GS mark indicates
that, when used as intended and with foreseeable misuse of the labeled product,
the safety and health of the user isn't endangered. This is a voluntary safety sign
issued by TÜV Süd.
General
Read and keep the operating instructions
These operating instructions belong to this electric grill lighter (hereinafter
referred to as "grill lighter"). It contains important information on the commission-
ing and handling.
Carefully read the operating instructions, especially the safety instructions, before
using the grill lighter. Failure to comply with these operating instructions can result

level of risk, which, if not avoided, can result in death or serious

CAUTION!
This signal symbol / word stands for a hazard with a low degree
of risk, which, if not avoided, can result in minor or moderate
injury.
The symbol indicates that the design of the product corresponds to protection class II
(double insulation). A safety connection to the electrical ground isn’t required.
Warning for hot surfaces.
Don't expose to rain or moisture.
Heat level: To re up the grill (approx. 50 °C).
Heat level: To ignite the grill (approx. 600 °C).
If the power cord or extension cord is damaged, unplug it immediately.

Only connect the grill lighter outdoors and only to a properly installed 220-240 V ~ socket.
The grill lighter should be operated via a residual current device that has a tripping current of no
more than 30 mA.
The adapter plug or extension cord must also be equipped with a protective contact.
The power plug, the power cord and the heating element may never be immersed in water or
any other liquid.
Don't operate the grill lighter if it shows visible signs of damage or if the power cord or plug is
defective.
If the power plug of the grill lighter is damaged, the grill lighter may no longer be used. The
power cord must be replaced by the manufacturer or its customer service or a similarly qualied
person in order to avoid hazards.
Never touch the power plug with wet hands.
Never pull the power plug out of the socket by the power cable, but always take hold of the
plug.
Never use the power cord as a handle.
Keep the power plug and power cord away from open ames and hot surfaces.
Route the power cord so that nobody trips over it.
Don't kink the power cord or lay it over sharp edges.
When using an extension cable, make sure that the extension cable is no longer than 5 m. The
extension cable must be approved for outdoor use.
No changes may be made to the grill lighter!
Don't open the housing, but leave repairs to a specialist. To do this, contact the service address
specied on the warranty card. Liability and guarantee claims are excluded for repairs, conver-
sions, improper connection or incorrect operation carried out independently.
Only parts that correspond to the original device data may be used for repairs.
Don't carry out any other activities on the grill lighter during operation (e.g. cleaning).
Don't use the lighter in the immediate vicinity of an outdoor shower, swimming pool,
swimming pond or the like. Never use the grill lighter near water containers.
Never operate the grill lighter in the rain.
Make sure that children don't insert any objects into the grill lighter.
Don't use spray cans / aerosols within the range of the grill lighter!
When you aren't using the grill lighter, are cleaning it or if a fault occurs, always switch o the
grill lighter and pull the mains plug out of the socket.
Don't use the grill lighter with a timer control or external remote operation.
Risk of electric shock and injury!

Faulty electrical installation or excessive mains voltage can lead to electric shock.

This device can be used by children aged 8 years and over as well as by persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised
or have been instructed on the safe use of the device and they understand the resulting
dangers.
Never leave the grill lighter unsupervised when it is ready for or in use.
Children can't play with the grill lighter.
Cleaning and user maintenance may not be carried out by children without supervision.
Use the grill lighter with great care. The grill lighter shouldn't be used under the inuence of
alcohol, medication or drugs, but also not when feeling tired or sick.
Don't let children play with the packaging lm. Children can get caught and suocate while
playing.
Also make other users aware of the dangers!
Dangers for children and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental
abilities (e.g. partially disabled, older people with limited physical and
mental abilities) or lack of experience and knowledge (e.g. older children).

Don't use in closed rooms!
Touching the heating elements leads to severe burns.
Only touch the grill lighter during operation by the handle.
Don't drop the grill lighter.
If the grill lighter falls, don't try to catch it out of reex! Risk of burns!
Never block the nozzle of the grill lighter.
Never use the grill lighter in combination with gas.
Never use the grill lighter in combination with other grill lighters such as, for example, alcohol,
gasoline or comparable liquids.
Disconnect the grill lighter from the mains before removing it from the re.
Never use the stand as a suspension.
Make sure that the plastic parts of the grill lighter don't come into contact with heat. Never put
the lighter on the coals.
Use only high-quality charcoal and briquettes.
Never cover the ventilation slots! This can overheat and destroy the grill lighter.
Never test the operating temperature and ventilation with your hands. The grill lighter gets to
an operating temperature of over 60 °C in a few seconds.

Careful when using the device near ammable materials.

Heat can be conducted to ammable materials that are covered.

Disconnect from the grid before removing it from the re.
Let the lighter cool down before storing it.
The connection cable or other ammable materials may not come into contact with the hot
parts of the grill lighter.
Food must never touch the heating elements. These get extremely hot and can ignite the food.

The grill lighter gets very hot. Be careful and never touch the heated parts.
Keep ammable objects and liquids away from the grill lighter.
Never look into the nozzle when operating the grill grill lighter. This can lead to serious injuries,
burns, loss of eyesight or even death!
Keep the grill lighter away from hair and clothing!

If you open the packaging uncarefully with a sharp knife or other pointed objects, the grill lighter
can get damaged.

Initial commissioning
Check grill lighter and scope of delivery
NOTE!
First attach the protective plate bracket on the handle .
The connection is made via a plug-turn movement. To do this, you must rst put the protective
plate bracket on the handle. The two small buttons on the handle must be pushed into the two
outlets on the bracket (see Fig. A).
To lock the protective plate bracket, turn it clockwise (see Fig. B).
Then attach the nozzle insert on the heating nozzle .
Now slide the protective plate over the heating nozzle with the nozzle insert and insert it
into the holder (see Fig. C).

Improper handling of the grill lighter can damage the grill lighter.
Pile the charcoal on the grill.
Connect the power plug of the grill lighter to a properly installed socket with a protective earth
contact (220-240 V ~ / 50 Hz).
Guide the grill lighter under the coal heap and start it by sliding the slide switch to the heat
level (see Fig. E).
Wait for the rst sparks to spray. Now slide the switch to heat level and slowly guide
it about 20-30 cm away from the grill. Continue to light the same spot (see Fig. F).
Stay in this position with gentle, circular movements.
When the embers are to your liking, turn o the grill lighter by sliding the slide switch back
to the OFF position . Place it carefully on its stand in a well-secured place to cool down
(see Fig. D). When you no longer need the grill lighter, pull out the mains plug.
Now distribute the red coal evenly in the grill with the help of suitable cutlery.

Don't carry out any independent repairs on the grill lighter. Leave the repair to a professional.

NOTE: If you use the grill lighter, there may be a slight smell. This smell evaporates
after a short time and is safe. Don't use in closed rooms!
In combination with the coal or the briquettes, heat develops very quickly. In order
not to damage the grill lighter, make sure that you only let it linger under the coals
until the rst sparks appear. Otherwise the metal can deform and melt.

briquettes don't glow.
No power supply. Check whether the plug is properly
inserted into the socket as far as it will
go. Make sure that the earth leakage
circuit breaker of the socket isn't been
switched o.
The grill lighter or the
power cord is defective.
Switch o the grill lighter and pull out
the mains plug. Please contact
customer service.
The grill lighter is too far
from the coals.
Guide the grill lighter under the coals
as described in the "Operation"
chapter (see Fig. E).
The heating nozzle is
blocked.
Switch o the grill lighter as described
in the "Operation" chapter and pull
out the power plug. Then let it cool
down completely and check whether
there are any visible blockages.
The grill lighter
doesn't get hot
enough.
The wrong level was
chosen.
Check on the slide switch , what
level you are using. Use the heat level
to light the charcoal /
briquettes (see Fig. E).
The grill lighter
switches itself o.
The device has overheated. The ventilation slots were
possibly covered up. Please contact
customer service.
The nominal operating time was
exceeded. Switch o the grill lighter
and pull out the mains plug. Please
contact customer service.
Cleaning

NOTE!
Don't use aggressive cleaning agents, brushes with metal or nylon bristles or sharp or metallic
cleaning objects such as knives, metal sponges and the like. These can damage the surfaces.
Never immerse the lighter in water.
Never clean the lighter in the dishwasher.
Risk of electric shock!
Never immerse the power plug, cable and heating element in water or other liquids in order to
avoid electric shock.

Storage
Improper handling of the grill lighter can damage the grill lighter.
Pull out the mains plug before cleaning.
Let the grill lighter cool completely.
Remove the nozzle insert , the protective plate and the bracket (see Fig. A - C).
Clean the grill lighter and the individual parts using a slightly damp, soft cloth with standard
dishwashing detergent.
Let all parts dry completely after cleaning.

NOTE: The metal parts of the grill lighter can change color after use. These stains are
normal and don't need to be cleaned.
Never store the grill lighter near a heat source.
Don't kink or crush the power cord.
Only stow the grill lighter when it is clean and dry.
If you don't use the grill lighter, cover it with a weatherproof protective cover if necessary.
Always keep the grill lighter in a clean, dry place where it is protected from direct sunlight and
inaccessible to children.
