Introduction
Congratulations for choosing a BTSR product.
With our SMART MATRIX FEEDER monitoring and programming terminal combined with
ULTRAFEEDER/ROLLING FEEDER/UNIFEEDER yarn feeding devices you got an innovative, unique
solution, which offers you multiple advantages concerning the quality control of your production.
The SMART MATRIX FEEDER system has been developed by BTSR International S.p.A. to make easier
and optimize:
•The programming of ULTRAFEEDER/ROLLING FEEDER/UNIFEEDER devices
•The system configuration,
•The production monitoring.
Even if the ULTRAFEEDER/ROLLING FEEDER/UNIFEEDER devices can operate fully autonomously, the
combination with SMART MATRIX FEEDER terminal highly facilitates the device programming operations; in
addition it allows performing various measurement, graphic visualizations and statistical functions which
contribute to keep under control and to improve the quality of your production.
Thanks to several unique functions (automatic calibration, self-learning functions, predefined appllications
that make easier and faster the programming of control parameters, etc), the SMART MATRIX FEEDER
system gives various types of textile machines (such as linear and circular knitting machines, seamless,
jersey, jacquard, socks, pantyhose machines, etc) an unrivalled level of flexibility and accuracy.
The availability of a “User Friendly” graphic interface allows you to quickly and intuitively program all the
operating parameters of ULTRAFEEDER/ROLLING FEEDER/UNIFEEDER devices; in addition, it provides
a real time monitoring of device behavior and production efficiency.
On this manual, the “ROLLING FEEDER” indication implicitly includes the “ROLLING MED” device
version, specifically developed for “Medical Socks” applications.
Manual Objectives
This manual has been written to provide the users of SMART MATRIX FEEDER system with the essential
information required to:
•Correctly install and connect the various system components (SMART MATRIX FEEDER terminal
and ULTRAFEEDER/ROLLING FEEDER/UNIFEEDER devices)
•Configure the system according to the application needs and setup the various operation
parameters.
•Detect and interpret the error signaling and system efficiency data
•Use the diagnostics maintenance and utility functions offered by the system (system component
test, firmware upgrading, etc.).
How to Use this Manual
The manual is subdivided into 3 sections:
Section 1 – includes the connection diagrams and the electrical interface of the various system
components.
Section 2 – provides the operating instructions for a correct use of the SMART MATRIX FEEDER
terminal and the instructions for a correct configuration of the required parameters.
Section 3 – shows the possible fault signaling, and some operating notes or examples about the most
significant system function: (Calibration, Learning, Multiple Style Loading, Sequence
Multiplation, etc.)

Navigation throughout the Display Windows
Many configuration/parameter setting functions of SMART MATRIX FEEDER system require a number of
parameters distributed among multiple display windows.
All the “Window Selection”, “Parameter Selection within a Window” and “Parameter Setting” functions on
SMART MATRIX FEEDER terminal, can be carried out using exclusively the multi-function Rotary Selector,
through a navigation technique based upon “Pointing”, “Selecting” and “Value Setting” actions.
The following example explains this navigation technique.
The example refers to the Style Parameters Programming function for ULTRAFEEDER devices, which
makes use of 3 windows (STD, ADV and LFATOL).
1 - Name (label) of currently selected window (foreground)
2 - Names (labels) of non-selected windows (hidden)
3 - Name of fields within the currently selected window
4 - Field values
5 - Scroll bar to view the remaining parameters

SMART MATRIX FEEDER Operation
SMART MATRIX FEEDER 2-3
1 – Navigation inside the Selected Window (STD)
Turn the selector to “Point” in sequence the various items of the window
(STD →WORK TENS.P1 →WORK TENS.P2 →INC/DEC TENS →EDITOR ADVANCED →
EDITOR LOCK).
The frame indicates the “Pointed” field.

Î
Click to “Select” the pointed item. The field name will be shown in reverse and the symbols:
appear to the right of the field value.
Example:
WORK TENS.P1 field selected (reverse)
Turn the selector either to Clockwise direction to increase the value, or to Counterclockwise
direction to decrease it (resolution 0.1).
Turn the selector holding the button pressed to increase/decrease the value more
quickly.
Example:
New value of WORK TENS.P1 = 27.0
Once you have set the desired value (e.g. 27.0), click to confirm.
Example:
WORK TENS.P1 field no more selected
Turn the selector to select a new field and so on ……
