make ure that you check the terminal

previou or prior chimney problem , if
there i any doubt about the
uitability, height or terminal po ition
do not take the job on.
Make ure that the chimney i high
enough to generate a teady reliable
vacuum.
If you line the chimney make ure
that you explain to the cu tomer
about the po ibility of cro wind
noi e ducting down the liner.
Make ure that you explain how the
conver ion will work and how the
converted appliance will differ in
relation to being fuelled by olid fuel.
Make ure that you explain how the
appliance will be controlled.
Make ure that you explain about the
running co t .
Where new oil torage tank are to be
in talled make ure that they comply
with OFTEC rule and Building Reg
Make ure that the appliance ha n’t
been modified with the addition of a
larger, none tandard boiler.
Make ure that cu tomer are aware
that the appliance will need to be
cleaned out and erviced in line with
the chedule.

The vapori ing pot burner i de igned
to run continuou ly.
It i extremely imple and all that the
u er i required to do i operate the
oil flow control knob to achieve the
required oven or hot plate
temperature.
Upon tarting from cold, the burner
hould run until it get the oven up to
a working temperature, when thi
temperature i reached the oil flow i
et at the required number to match
the required oven temperature.
The burner fire vertically and the
flame trike the baffle which divert
the flu ga e on to critical internal
component .
The three factor , which affect the
performance of the appliance, are -:

Before tarting thi in tallation you
mu t make ab olutely ure that the
chimney doe not have a hi tory of
down draughting either intermittent
or permanent.
Before any work i carried out the
in taller mu t check the exi ting
chimney vacuum whil t the appliance i
running at a normal operating
temperature.
It i mo t important that all or any
exi ting chimney fault are
e tabli hed and corrected before the
conver ion work i carried out.
Hot and cold condition chimney mu t
have a vacuum of not le than .02"
W.G. when COLD or more than .06"
W.G. when HOT.
If there are any problem uch a : -
Occa ional down draught.
Exce ive up draught .
Fume leak .
Regular blockage .
If you are un ure about the condition
of the chimney, have it thoroughly
cleaned and checked by a uitably
qualified per on.
If there i a hi tory of exce ive or
intermittent updraughting it may be
nece ary to fit an extra automatic
flue draught regulator to allow for
extra control of the e condition .
Thi hould be fitted a near a
po ible to the appliance generally in
the open branch of a uitable tee.
Make ure that a uitably qualified
per on carrie out any remedial work.
The chimney hould terminate 2 feet
above the ridge of the main or highe t
roof, in compliance with relevant
legi lation.

identified and rectified before
conver ion i carried out, it i the

adequate recommendation to the
cu tomer.
Becau e thi i an exi ting olid fuel
y tem it hould have been in talled
to BS5449 part one.
A double feed indirect hot water
torage cylinder to BS1556 part one,
hould have been u ed and in order to
prevent the build up of cale and
corro ion a uitable inhibitor hould
have been in talled.
All pipe work in the primary circuit
mu t be 28 mm diameter and the pipe
work mu t be in talled to provide a
uitable heat leak ource (10,000
BTU, .) and adequate gravity
circulation.
Do not convert to pre uri ed
y tem , only open vented are
uitable.
Make ure that old boiler are not
blocked or heavily calcified.
Original Rayburn boiler can be
removed and in pected via the de
ludging acce panel on the rear of
the boiler

Clean chimney, check and adju t the
chimney vacuum (0.02" - 0.06" w.g.)
and provide a cleaning acce (min
diameter 5" for lining .)
If applicable, check out the exi ting

In tall fuel tank and run a fuel line up
to the firebox ide of the appliance.
If nece ary, modify the electrical
upply.
Fit uitable ventilation into the
appliance ite.

Remove the thick front firebrick
beneath the fuel-loading door.
(Thi i a time con uming job, don't
ru h and take care not to apply too
much pre ure a the front ca ting of
the appliance i only thin and can be
ea ily broken.)
Remove the oven ide brick .
Remove the lower ham ide brick and
thi will then allow acce to the ca t
iron plate fitted over the riddling
grate, which can now be removed.

Remove the fuel-loading door and
remove the ca t iron protection plate
attached to it.
(Note it may be nece ary to drill the
head off the old fa tener and u e
till on on the tub to remove it.)
Clean the door inner urface and paint
it with heat re i tant matt black
paint.

have to be fitted beneath it.

Make ure that the ceramic rope eal,
on to which the hotplate it , i in
good condition and not over
compre ed, if it i not forming a
good airtight eal with the clo ure
plate, renew it.

Remove the liding damper in the flue
box and eal the opening left by the
liding damper with fire cement.

and combu tion air a po ible be
allowed to circulate around the
burner.
A permanent free air upply mu t be
e tabli hed, a the burner cannot
function correctly without it.
To achieve thi it i nece ary to fully
open the pin valve which i located in
the a h pan acce door and lock it
permanently in thi po ition by u e of
either a lock nut, or a ( uitably
po itioned) drilled hole and plit pin.

Before permanently fitting the
board , try a dummy run, to make ure
everything fit before final
permanent fitting and fire cementing.
Remember that the pot mu t be
fitted in to the cooker through the
fuel loading door and the de calling
adaptor fitted later, when the pot i
in po ition.
Fit the metal ba e clo ure plate
diagonally a illu trated.
If the plate doe not fit, trim the
length to ize.

The lower metal clo ure plate ha a
rectangular cut out.
Fit it down on to the exi ting ca t
ledge and pu h it to the front of the
appliance, centering it equally in the
width of the combu tion chamber.
Note, there i a notch in one of the
hort inner edge of the plate; thi
notch hould alway be at the front to
the oven ide.
It i provided to allow the lighting
port tube, oldered on the front of
the pot, to pa down through the
clo ure plate.
Note, Make sure that the base
closure plate is levelled so that oil
will flow very sli htly towards the
base of the li htin port tube.
It may be nece ary to trim the
board to fit.
The back of the rear board may need
to be champhered lightly to fit up
again t the rear brick or boiler
whichever i applicable.

Note the pot come with the
de calling device pre fitted, remove it
before fitting the pot, and refit it
afterward .
Lower the pot through the top plate
and work it down through the board
and lower clo ure plate.
Whil t thi i being done the lower
plate and upport board will become
di turbed. Make ure that everything
i adju ted to fit back in it correct
place.
The 4 hole in the top plate are to
allow the two board to be pu hed up
tight together at the centre joint and
lock the board into po ition by u ing
the 4 large elf tapper and repair
wa her a illu trated below.
U e ilicone ealant between the
clo ure plate and the pot mounting
flange to form an air tight ga ket.

Make ure that he lighting port and oil
inlet are in the correct orientated
po ition.

Make ure not to pin or crew in the
area of the board where the
barometric damper will be fitted.

WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE
DUMMY RUN PROCEED AND FIT
EVERYTHING PERMANENTLY FIRE
CEMENTING THE BOARDS IN
PLACE AND FILLING ANY GAPS AS
YOU GO.
Note
1.Take care not to et fire cement
into any of the holes in the burner
pot.
2. Make sure that the base closure
plate is levelled so that oil will flow
very sli htly towards the base of
the li htin port tube.
Fit the de calling device ready to
accept the oil upply pipe work.

After fitting the pot, it will then be
po ible to fit the oil control valve
bracket to the oil level mark
e tabli hed a follow .
Mea ure the 20 mm from the bottom
of the pot and make a mark on the
ide of the pot.
Note the photo i of a Rayburn
Supreme; the Regent will not have a
much of the pot howing.

To get the oil feed pipe work through
the ide of the appliance it will be
nece ary to mark out and drill
through the inner and outer kin of
the appliance, thi i an awkward job
requiring ome patience.

The baffle kit i awkward to fit a
the lower flat plate of the baffle ha
to be fitted diagonally acro the
firebox and then rotated down into
it final po ition with the upper part
fitting over the oven top ca ting and
pu hed under the hob ecured by an
M4 fa tener, it may be nece ary to
trim both the back edge of the baffle
to allow it to go under the hob and the
baffle plate which fit down into the
combu tion chamber.

(When fir t lighting the burner, it will

Remove the internal of the burner if
they have been fitted already.
Vac out the ba e of the burner.
Remove the barometric damper and
tape (ga tape) a piece of ceramic
gla up to the damper opening in the
front of the fuel loading door o that
you can ee the flame throughout the
ignition and commi ioning proce .

1. Turn on the oil upply to the oil
valve.
2. Turn on the electrical upply.
We upply more than one type of oil
control valve with conver ion and
normally we upply a eparate pecific
booklet for the appropriate valve.
Refer to thi booklet for all
information relative to the operation,
ervicing and adju tment of the
particular valve u ed on thi appliance.
Make ure that the valve i activated
and turned on to allow oil to flow at
it lowe t etting.
Wait a few minute until fuel tart
to flow into the pot.
(If you have any difficulties refer
to the specific valve booklet
supplied with the kit)
Look through the hot plate aperture
and down in to the ba e of the pot to
ee if the oil i running into it.
Make ure that the oil i running
toward the bottom of the lighting
port tube and not away from it.
(The oil must ather in a small pool,
at the bottom of the li htin port
tube, no bi er than a small
biscuit,)
When you can ee the pool i formed
turn the oil off, refit the burner

Refit the hot plate but not the baffle
kit.
Remove the lighting port plug and
impale a mall piece of fire lighter
onto the pike.
Remember that there i a kill
involved when lighting oil burner , you
mu t make ure that the pot tay
alight during the lighting proce and
you mu t al o carefully control the
flow and build up of oil in the pot.
If there i a decent chimney vacuum,
oxygen in air will be drawn into the
pot to keep it alight, if there i no or
very little chimney vacuum there i a
po ibility that the burner could
rapidly go out by con umption of
available oxygen in the pot and
con equently extingui h it elf.
If thi occur turn the oil off to the
pot and tart again after the pot ha
cooled down.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RE LIGHT
A HOT BURNER.
Therefore the kill i -:
Make ure that there i a chimney
vacuum.

Make ure that the right quantity of
oil i in the right place.
Turn the oil on to the fir t po ition
via the flow control knob and when oil
can be een to trickle into the pot
turn it off o a not to allow an
exce ive build up.
Make ure that the oil i running
toward the bottom of the lighting
port tube.
It should ather in a small pool, at
the bottom of the li htin port
tubes, no bi er than a small
biscuit.
When the oil ha formed the mall
pool, turn the oil off.
Fit a mall piece of firelighter on to
the lighting port plug pike, light it
and pu h it down into the oil at the
bottom of the lighting port tube
making ure that it drop into the oil.
Look through the ceramic gla and
watch for ign of flame .
You hould be able to ee mall yellow
flame in bottom of the pot.
When you are ure that the pot i
alight, turn the fuel flow on again at
the lowe t etting for 30 econd and
then, turn it off again.
Allow another 30 econd to elap e
and when you are ure that the pot i
alight turn the oil on to the pot and
let the flame e tabli h on low fire.
When the pot i running on low fire
gradually turn the oil flow up to
etting 3 and let the chimney warm
up.
When the pot i running on etting 3
and the chimney ha warmed up check
the chimney vacuum and make ure
that it i between .02” W.G. minimum
and .06"W.G. maximum
When you are happy with the flame
picture check the high and low fire
running.

When the burner ha been running for
five minute on po ition 1 LOW FIRE
the lower cataly er will be glowing dull
red, with blue flame hovering above
the cataly er, if thi i not the ca e
adju t the low fire crew accordingly.

When you are happy with the low fire
running turn the burner lowly and
progre ively up to full fire, thi
hould produce a conical wi py blue
flame with ju t the odd touch of
yellow. If there i exce ive yellow
reduce the high fire accordingly.
When you are happy with the flame
picture on high and low fire you mu t
then check the action of the
APPLIANCE TEMPERATURE
CONTROL mechani m if it i fitted.
When you are happy that everything
i in order, turn the burner off and
let it cool down.
