DAB+ wasdevelopedin Europe byaconsortiumofbroadcastersandmanufacturers. DAB+ usesdigitalcompression
techniquestotransformthesourcematerial, i.e. musicand speech,intobetterqualityaudio.
Interference freereception
Analoguesystemssufferfromaneffect called “multipathdistortion”. Thisiscausedbecausewavesdonotbehavein
anorderlyfashion, butbounceandreflect off buildingsetc.DAB+seesthisasanadvantageandusesthedirect and
reflectedsignalstoactuallyreinforcetheendresult,allowing forbetterservicemoreofthetime.
Noneedtore-tune
Asingle DAB+frequencycanbeusedtocoverthe wholeofthe Australia,sosolving manyoftheproblems
experiencedwiththe earlieranaloguesystem. DAB+ scansautomaticallyand tunes-in alloftheavailablestationsin
yourarea.

Adjusting theAerial
Theaerial shouldbeextendedtoensureyou receivethebestreception possible inbothDAB+andFMradio modes. It
maybenecessarytoalterthe positionofthe DAB+ RADIO and/oraerialtoachievethe bestsignal.
Using Headphones
Youwill requireheadphonesfittedwitha3.5mmdiameterstereo plug.Theheadphonesocketislocatedon theback
ofthisunit.Headphonesarenot suppliedwiththis DAB+ Receiver.
Turning theUnitOn/Off
ConnectthepoweradaptertotheDC Jackonthe backofthe unit.Theninsert thepoweradapterintothewall outlet.
Turnthemainspoweronandthenpress the STANDBY Buttontoturnontheunit. Press the StandbyButtontoturn
theunittoStandby.
Whenyou turnonyourradioforthefirsttimeyou willbepresentedwiththis
image.

additional FullScan toensureallstationsare pickedupand stored. Itisalsorecommendedeveryfewmonths to
runanew scantopickupanynew DAB+thatmay havebegun broadcastingafterpurchasing yourDAB+radio.
Forinitialuse, conduct afullscan toautosearchandstoreallDAB+radio stations. PresstheMenuButtonand use
the or Buttonstoselect theFullScanoption.Press theSelect/NAVButtontoconfirm.
TheFullScanmaytakeyou 1-2minutestocomplete,afterallstationsarestoredyou will see:

Station Name:
Thiswillshowthestationthatisbroadcastingtheprogramyou arelisteningto.
Frequency:
Thisdisplays thestationtransmissionfrequency.
SignalError:
Thisdisplays thesignalerrorratebeingreceivedfrom0to100.
a.0means no errorsignalhas beendetected.
b.While100 meansit isanextremely badsignal.
SignalInformation:
Thisshowsthedigitalbitrateandthesignal mode.
Time:
Thisdisplays thetimeprovidedbythe broadcaster.
Date:
Thisdisplays thedateprovidedbythe broadcaster.

ToShowtheSignalStrengthinDAB+ Mode
1.Press the MENU Buttonduringplay, and ‘Info willbedisplayedonthescreen.Thenpress the SELECT/NAV
Buttontoconfirm.
2.Press the MENU Buttonand the SELECT/NAV ButtonrepeatedlyuntilSignalStrengthisshownon thedisplay.A
signal barwill be displayedasshownbelow.
The indicatoronthesignalbarshowstheminimumacceptable
signallevel.
@Note: Stations withsignalstrengthbelowthe minimumsignal level will
notprovideasteadystreamofaudio.
DRC(DynamicRangeControl)
Youcansetthelevel ofthecompression ofstationstoeliminatethe differencesindynamicrangeorsound level
betweenradiostations.
@Note:SetDRC to off indicates no compression, setDRC to low indicateslittlecompression,and setDRC to high shows
maximumcompression.
1.Press the MENU Button, thenpressthe or Buttons toselect the DRC menu.
2.Press the SELECT/NAV Buttontoconfirm.
3.Press the or ButtontoselectidealDRCMode.Pressthe SELECT/NAV Buttontoconfirm.
