THE
INSTRUMENT

Volume—On/Off
control(Fig.
3)ina
clockwisedirection
until
a
click
is
heard
andthe
pilotlamp
is
illuminated.
The

record
playertells
youhowto
play
the
records.Particular
care
should
be
taken
tosetthe
stylusturnoverknob
andthe
speed-adjuster
tothe
speedshown
onthe
recordlabel(for
the
16
r.p.m.
records
use
the
33-45stylussetting).After
use
when
the
pick-up
armhas
returned
toits
rest
it
should
be
locked
in
position
by
turning
the
pick-uplock(theblackknobunder
the
pick-up
arm
rest)
tothe
left.
The
Volume,Bass
and
Treblecontrols(Fig.
3)
should
be
adjusted
in
accordance
withindividualpreference.
The
controls,which
are
edge-operated,
are
calibratedfrom
1 to9 to
assist
in
subsequent
settings.
When
the
record
player
isnotin
use,
switch
off
by
turning
the
Volume—On/Off
control
ina
counter-clockwisedirectionuntil
a
click
is
heardagain.Return
the
speed-controlknob
tothe
neutral
position.
Records
maybe
transferred
onto
tape
by
connecting
a
tape
recorder
tothe
sockets,marked
'Output
to
Tape
Recorder'
(see
Fig.
2)
whichprovide
a
low
-
impedanceoutput.
The
connecting
leads
canbe
takenthrough
the
slot
inthe
back
ofthe
recordplayer
andfixedinthe
springclip(see
Fig.
1).The
OperatingInstructions
for
the
taperecordershouldgiveinformation
onthe
method
of
recording.Duringrecording,
the
Volume,Bass
and
Treble
controls
operatemanually
andcanbe
used
in
conjunctionwith
any
recording
controls
inthe
tape
recorder.
