IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

5. e speakers, battery compartment, and other parts of the TravelTunes are
designed to be water resistant, and it is able to withstand a brief period of light rain,
or accidental splash. However, this does not mean it is fully waterproof-do not expose
the TravelTunes to heavy or prolonged rain or other sources of liquids or moisture,
and do not submerge the unit in water. Doing so will damage the unit, void your
warranty, and increase the risk of fire or electric shock.
6. NEVER EXPOSE THE TRAVELTUNES TO WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS
WHEN USING THE AC ADAPTER AS A POWER SOURCE.
7. Avoid getting moisture into the interior of the TravelTunes via openings such as the
bass port on the rear of the unit.
8. Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Do not use cleaning chemicals of any kind.
9. Do not install or operate near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers,
stoves, or other heat generating objects. Do not place lighted candles on the unit.
10. Unplug the AC adapter during lightning storms to prevent accidental damage.
11. Use only accessories supplied or specified in this manual by Bushnell.
12. Do not substitute any other external power supply for the supplied AC adapter,
and connect it only to outlets with compatible voltage standards.
13. e TravelTunes should be serviced only by a qualified service person when:
• e power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged.
• Objects have fallen onto or liquid has been spilled into the TravelTunes.
• e TravelTunes has been exposed to heavy or prolonged rain.
• e TravelTunes does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a significant
change in performance.
• e TravelTunes has been dropped or the enclosure has been damaged.
14. e user should not attempt to service the TravelTunes themselves. Servicing
should be referred to a qualified service person or returned to the manufacturer.

SETUp AND opERATIoN
1. Install 8 “C” size alkaline batteries as indicated inside the battery compartment on the back of the
TravelTunes (Fig.4), after pressing the tab at the top of the compartment cover to remove it (be sure
the batteries are all securely in place before replacing the battery compartment cover), or connect the
included AC adapter to the “DC 12v” input jack located behind the rubber strip on the lower right of
the back panel, then plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet. Note that the AC adapter will charge a
docked iPod, but the batteries will not. Make sure the TravelTunes power is off before “docking” an
iPod or making any other connections.
2. The versatile metal handle can be used in the upright position to carry the TravelTunes around, but
should be moved down into the lower position to act as a stand when using the TravelTunes. Be sure
the handle has locked securely into the stand position before proceeding.
3. If you will be using an iPod that has a docking port on the bottom, rst lift the rubber dock connector
cover (Fig 1a) on the TravelTunes up and press it into place in the indented area above the dock
connector cover (Fig.1b). Then snap the plastic docking adapter designed for your model of iPod (see
chart on next page) in place over the TravelTunes dock connector. Then insert the iPod carefully into
the adapter, making sure the connector goes into the docking port on your iPod. If the iPod does not
seem to t, please check to make sure you installed the correct adapter for your model. iPod models
without a docking port (Shuf e, etc.) as well as other MP3 players and audio devices may be used as
well, by connecting their headphone or line out jacks to the “Aux” jack on the back of the TravelTunes,
located behind the rubber strip (Fig 2). This connection can be made with a short male-to-male
1/8”(3.5mm) stereo cable (not included, but provided with many portable audio devices or available
at electronics retailers).
4. Turn on the iPod or connected audio device (if it is not already on), then press the power button
( ) on the top of the TravelTunes. The LED power indicator will come on, and glow green. The LED
will turn red to indicate a low battery condition.
5. Press Play on the iPod or connected device, and adjust the listening level with the volume rocker
switch located next to the power button on top of the TravelTunes. Press and release or hold down the
end of the volume control marked “+” to increase the volume level, and press the end marked “-” to
decrease the volume level. Note that the volume control on the iPod itself is bypassed when docked in
the TravelTunes. As with any speaker system, distortion may occur at very high volumes. If so, reduce
the volume to a lower level. Refer to the “Troubleshooting” section of this manual if you experience
other audio quality problems.
6. The included wireless remote control can be used instead of the controls on the TravelTunes to turn
on the power, raise or lower volume and also play/pause and select the next or previous song on a
docked iPod. The remote uses an infrared beam, and must be pointed towards the sensor behind the
front grille of the TravelTunes to control it. Before using it, pull out the plastic protective battery cover
sheet (Fig 3a) If the remote does not seem to work, please check the following:
( ) on the top of the TravelTunes. The LED power indicator will come on, and glow green. The LED
• Move the remote closer to the TravelTunes and try again (max. range is about 18 ft.)
• Be sure you are not at too much of an angle relative to the front of the TravelTunes
• Make sure the iPod is securely mounted on the dock connector, and the iPod’s display is on
• Open the remote battery compartment by sliding it straight out, and replace the battery with a new
3 volt lithium #CR2025 battery (Fig.3b).

Select the correct dock adapter for your model of iPod based on the information in this
chart. e adapter # is printed on each included white plastic adapter. Insert the adapter
into the docking area of the TravelTunes, pressing down carefully until it clicks into place,
with the dock connector projecting through the cutout in the center of the adapter. When
removing or changing dock adapters, you may nd it helpful to use a small at blade
screwdriver inserted in the indent at the back of the adapter to gently pry up the adapter.
* Note that iPod models shaded in gray were not designed with a docking port/connector,
but may be used (as well as other audio devices with headphone jacks) by using a 1/8”
(3.5mm) male-to-male stereo audio cable (not included) to connect their headphone jack
to the “Aux In” jack found on the back of the TravelTunes under the rubber cover strip,
next to the AC adapter input and headphone out jack.

on the audio source to mid-level, and start
with the volume set low on the TravelTunes,
gradually increasing it to the desired level. If
sound quality is poor, reduce the volume of
the external audio device.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Remote Control Functions:
All recent models of iPod (“Video” and Nano) will respond normally to the included
wireless remote control. However, some of the remote control buttons may not
work with older models of the iPod. For example, the “Play/Pause” and “Next
Track” & “Previous Track” buttons will not control the “3rd generation” iPod (sold
in 2003). e “Power On/Off” button normally turns the iPod on and off, but may
not work or may instead turn off the audio on older iPods. If you have an iPod that
does not respond to the full range of functions on the included remote, make sure
that you are using the newest software version available for your model. Software
updates to your iPod can normally be done by selecting “Update iPod” from the
“File” menu of iTunes on your computer. For a list of all iPod models to date, along

If Your iPod Becomes “Frozen” or Locked Up (Will Not Function):
First, be sure the hold switch has not been set to “lock” on the iPod (a lock icon
appears on its screen). Most “freezes” can be fixed with a simple reset procedure.

Regarding Battery Disposal:
is product contains a small (non-rechargeable) lithium battery in the remote
control. Lithium batteries should be disposed of by taking them to a household
hazardous waste collection site. Some retailers that sell lithium batteries also provide
a container to collect used batteries for proper disposal.
Batteries not provided with the product should be disposed of following the
recommendations of the battery manufacturer. Contact the battery brand
manufacturer for directions on battery disposal. Always follow state and local
regulations regarding disposal of batteries.

1. Mettre en place 8 piles alcalines de format « C » comme indiqué à l’intérieur du compartiment
de piles au dos du TravelTunes (Fig.4), après avoir appuyé sur la patte au sommet du couvercle de
piles pour l’enlever (véri er que toutes les piles sont correctement en place avant de refermer le
couvercle), ou raccorder l’adaptateur secteur fourni sur la prise d’entrée « DC 12V » derrière le rabat
en caoutchouc dans le coin inférieur droit du panneau arrière, puis brancher l’adaptateur secteur sur
une prise murale. Noter que l’adaptateur secteur permet de recharger un iPod placé dans la station
d’accueil, mais pas les piles. Véri er que le TravelTunes est éteint avant de placer un iPod dans la
station d’accueil ou d’effectuer un quelconque autre branchement.
2. La poignée en métal s’utilise en position haute pour porter le TravelTunes mais peut être rabattue
pour être utilisée en guise de béquille d’appui. Veiller à bien verrouiller la poignée en position de
béquille d’appui avant de poser l’appareil.
3. Avant de mettre en place un iPod équipé d’un port pour station d’accueil à la base, soulever le rabat
de connecteur d’accueil en caoutchouc (Fig 1a) du TravelTunes et l’enfoncer dans la zone en retrait
au dessus du connecteur d’accueil (Fig.1b). Encliqueter ensuite l’adaptateur d’accueil en plastique
correspondant au modèle d’iPod utilisé (voir la table page suivante) sur le connecteur d’accueil du
TravelTunes. Introduire ensuite l’iPod avec précaution dans l’adaptateur, en veillant à bien introduire
le connecteur dans le port de station d’accueil de l’iPod. Si l’iPod ne semble pas passer, véri er
que l’adaptateur correct est utilisé. Les modèles d’iPod sans port de station d’accueil (Shuf e, etc.)
ainsi que les autres lecteurs MP3 et appareils audio peuvent également être utilisés en raccordant leur
sortie de casque ou de ligne à la prise « Aux » au dos du TravelTunes, derrière le rabat en caoutchouc
(Fig 2). Ce raccordement peut se faire au moyen d’un court câble stéréo jack mâle-mâle de 3,5mm
(non inclus, mais fourni avec de nombreux appareils audio portables ou disponible dans les magasins
d’électronique).
4. Mettre en marche l’iPod ou autre appareil audio raccordé (s’il est éteint), puis appuyer sur le bouton
de marche au sommet du TravelTunes. Le voyant d’alimentation s’allume en vert. Ce voyant
s’allume en rouge pour indiquer que les piles sont déchargées.
5. Appuyer sur la commande de lecture de l’iPod ou de l’appareil raccordé et régler le niveau sonore à
l’aide du bouton de volume placé à côté du bouton de marche sur le dessus du TravelTunes. Enfoncer
puis relâcher le côté du bouton marqué « + » pour augmenter le volume et sur le côté marqué « - » pour
baisser le volume. Noter que la commande de volume de l’iPod est sans effet lorsque celui-ci est dans
la station d’accueil du TravelTunes. Comme avec tout système d’enceintes, une distorsion est possible
aux très hauts volumes. Si c’est le cas, réduire le volume. Consulter la section « Dépannage » de ce
manuel en cas d’autres problèmes de qualité audio.
6. La télécommande sans l incluse peut être utilisée à la place des commandes de marche ou de
volume du TravelTunes et des commandes de lecture/pause et suivant ou précédent de l’iPod placé
dans la station d’accueil. La télécommande est à faisceau infrarouge et doit être pointée vers le capteur
placé derrière la grille frontale du TravelTunes. Avant de l’utiliser, enlever la languette isolante en
plastique de la pile (Fig 3a). Si la télécommande ne semble pas fonctionner, effectuer les véri cations
suivantes :

• Rapprocher la télécommande du TravelTunes et réessayer (la portée maximale est d’environ 6 m)
• Veiller à ne pas être trop de biais par rapport à l’avant du TravelTunes
• Véri er que l’iPod est fermement en place dans le connecteur d’accueil et que l’af chage de l’iPod
est allumé
• Ouvrir le compartiment de pile de la télécommande en le faisant coulisser et remplacer la pile par
une pile au lithium 3 V CR2025 neuve (Fig. 3b).

Utiliser les données de cette table pour sélectionner l’adaptateur d’accueil correspondant
au modèle d’iPod utilisé. Le n° d’adaptateur est imprimé sur chacun des adaptateurs en
plastique blanc fournis. Insérer l’adaptateur dans le logement d’accueil du TravelTunes en
l’enfonçant avec précaution jusqu’au déclic, le connecteur d’accueil devant dépasser à travers
l’ouverture au centre de l’adaptateur. Lors de l’extraction ou du changement d’adaptateur
d’accueil, il peut être utile d’insérer un petit tournevis plat dans le dégagement au dos de
l’adaptateur pour pousser l’adaptateur avec précaution vers le haut.
* Les modèles d’iPod en grisé ne comportent pas de port ou connecteur pour station
d’accueil mais peuvent être utilisés (ainsi que d’autres appareils audio à prise casque) en
raccordant un câble audio stéréo jack mâle-mâle de 3,5 mm (non fourni) entre leur prise
casque et la prise « Aux In » au dos du TravelTunes, sous le rabat caoutchouc, à côté de
l’entrée pour adaptateur secteur et de la sortie casque.

Fonctions de la télécommande :
Tous les modèles récents d’iPod (Vidéo et Nano) répondent normalement à
la télécommande fournie. Toutefois, certains des boutons de la télécommande
peuvent ne pas fonctionner avec des modèles d’iPod plus anciens. Par exemple, les
boutons « Lecture/Pause », « Suivant » et « Précédent » ne fonctionnent pas avec
les iPod de 3ème génération (vendus en 2003). Le bouton « Marche/Arrêt » sert
normalement à mettre l’iPod sous et hors tension, mais peut ne pas fonctionner
ou alors couper l’audio sur les anciens modèles d’iPod. Si l’iPod ne répond pas à
toutes les fonctions de la télécommande, vérifier qu’il utilise la version de logiciel
la plus récente disponible pour le modèle considéré. Pour effectuer une mise à jour
logicielle de l’iPod, sélectionner « Mettre à jour l’iPod » dans le menu « Fichier »
d’iTunes sur l’ordinateur. Pour voir la liste de tous les modèles d’iPod à ce jour, ainsi

Si l’iPod se « fige » ou se verrouille (ne fonctionne pas) :
Vérifier d’abord que le bouton Hold n’est pas en position verrouillée sur l’iPod
(l’icône verrou s’affiche à l’écran). La majorité des blocages peuvent être résolus
par une simple procédure de réinitialisation. L’opération exacte dépend du modèle

Élimination des piles :
Ce produit contient une petite pile au lithium (non rechargeable) dans la
télécommande. Pour éliminer les piles au lithium, les amener à centre de
collecte de déchets ménagers dangereux. Certains revendeurs de piles au lithium
fournissent également un récipient de collecte de piles usagées afin de les éliminer
correctement.
Les piles non fournies avec le produit doivent être éliminées conformément aux
indications du fabricant de piles. Contacter le fabricant des piles pour savoir
comment les éliminer. Veiller à toujours respecter la réglementation en vigueur
concernant l’élimination des piles.
