1. Information of this Manual
Purpose
This manual describes how to safely install the Battery-Box Commercial. It also provides
information of the product, handling and troubleshooting of common faults.
This manual is for the sole purpose of installation, operation and maintenance of products.
Validity
This document is valid for: Battery-Box Commercial C130 System with compatible Inverter.
Target Group
The information and instructions contained in this document may only be performed or operated
by qualified personnel. This document is intended exclusively for authorized and trained party.

Beware of a danger zone
This symbol indicates that the product must be additionally grounded if
additional grounding or equipotential bonding is required at the
installation site.
The battery modules is heavy enough to cause severe injury.
Keep the system away from children or animals.
Safety Instructions
The installers are required to read the contents and safety warnings before starting the
installation.
2.2.1 Intended Use
The system is for commercial/industrial use. It is a 729.6V Li-ion battery storage system, and
must be operated with compatible inverters.
The system could be connected with Internet through network cable for maintenance and
software update.
The system must only be used as stationary equipment.
The system is suitable for indoor use only.
The system is not suitable for supplying life-sustaining medical devices. Please ensure that no
personal injury would lead due to the power outage of the system.
Alterations to the BYD system, e.g., changes or modifications are not allowed unless the written
permission of BYD Europe B.V. is achieved.
The enclosed document is an integral part of this system. Keep the documentation in a
convenient, dry place for future reference and observe all instructions contained therein.
The type label should be always attached to the system.
2.2.2 Qualified Personnel
The guide and instructions described in this documents are may only be performed by qualified
installer/electrician.
The qualified personnel must have the following skills/experience:
1. Knowledge of the handling procedures and safety hazards associated with transporting,
storing and disposing of lithium-ion batteries
2. Training in how to deal with the dangers and risks associated with installing, repairing and
using electrical devices, batteries and installations

3. Knowledge of and adherence to the locally applicable technical connection requirements,
standards and directives
4. Knowledge of and adherence to this document and other documents associated with the
product including all safety instructions
5. Training in the installation and commissioning of electrical devices
6. Trained by BYD or organization authorized by BYD.
7. Electrical and installation qualification certificates issued with local permission.
2.2.3 General Instructions
To prevent personal injury and property damage. Read this section carefully and observe all
safety information at all times. The information contained in this part need to be observed all
time during installation.
DANGER
High voltage in the product can cause danger to life
During operation, there is a dangerously high voltage between its components.
•Wear suitable personal protective equipment for all work on the product.
•Please perform all the work in accordance with the warning signs attached and the
safety instructions in the manual.
•Do not contact any module terminal or power cable directly or non-insulated parts, with
the hand or any other part of the human body.
•Disconnect the product from voltage sources and make sure it cannot be reconnected
before working on the device.
•Observe all safety information on components associated with the product.
•Do not store this product in a place exposed to direct sunlight.
DANGER
Danger to life due to electric shock when operating a damaged product
Operating a damaged product can lead to hazardous situations since high voltages can be
present on accessible product parts. Touching live parts and cables results in death or
lethal injuries due to electric shock..
•Check the product regularly for visible damage.
•Make sure that all external safety equipment is freely accessible at all times.
•Make sure that all safety equipment is in good working order.
•Wear suitable personal protective equipment for all work on the product.

Danger to life due to gas venting or fire.
•Ensure that unauthorized persons have no access to the product.
•Disconnect the AC circuit breaker and secure it against reconnection.
•Disconnect the battery from the product via an external disconnection device.
WARNING
Improper placing or operating the system will cause risks of system damage and
hazards situation
•Store the product on a flat surface.
•Store at cool and dry place. (Do not store in greenhouses and storage areas for hay,
straw, chaff, animal feed, fertilizers, vegetables or fruit products.)
•Store the product out of reach of children and animals
•Do not disassemble it, repairing it by unqualified personnel. All services must be done by
qualified personnel.
•Do not touch the system with liquid on it.
•The system can only be used indoors. The protection level Is IP20。
•Do not use the inverter without authorized from BYD.
2.2.4 Handling Modules
To prevent personal injury and property damage. Read this section carefully and observe all
safety information at all times. The information contained in this part need to be observed all
time during installation.

DANGER
Improper handling of module will cause the damage of product and the personal
injury. Please avoid the following mistakes.
•Do not dissemble the module;
•Do not charge this product or the module with a charger that is not approved by BYD;
•If electrolyte leakage is identified, stop using the product and contact a BYD Authorized
Service Partner immediately;
•Do not heat the battery module, put it into fire, store it in an environment with beyond the
permitted temperature. or place it near a heat source;
•Do not install the battery near the flammable materials or explosive gas or chemicals.
•High relative humidity;
•Do not expose or place near water sources like downspouts or sprinklers
•Do not connect its positive terminal and negative terminal the wrong way round;
•Do not short-circuit the positive terminal and negative terminal battery terminals.
•Do not discharge the battery continuously if the capacity of the battery module is too low
or unknown;

•Place each battery module facing the right position. Do not place it in the opposite
direction or sideways. Do not stack more than 5 modules vertically.
•Do not place tools or metal parts on any battery module;
•Remove watches, rings and any other metal ornaments before operating the module;
•Do not drop the module;
•Do not allow it to come in contact with corrosive chemicals.
DANGER
Incorrect wiring or running can damage the battery module and cause deflagration.
•All types of breakdown of the product may lead to a leakage of electrolyte or flammable
gas.
•During installation of the battery, the utility grid, solar input must be disconnected from
the Battery Pack wiring. Wiring must be carried out by a qualified personnel.
•Battery system is not user serviceable.
•Ensure that all pole connectors are connected with the connecting torque specified in the
document.
•Ensure that the inverters are approved for use by BYD
•Set the correct battery values for in Inverter and EMS when configuring.
WARNING
Chemical burns due to battery electrolyte
If handled inappropriately, battery electrolyte can leak from the battery and cause irritation
to the eyes, respiratory system and skin.
•Whenever working on the battery, wear suitable personal protective equipment such as
rubber gloves, rubber boots and goggles.
•Rinse acid splashes thoroughly for a long time with clear water, and consult a doctor
immediately.
•If acid fumes have been inhaled, consult a doctor immediately.
WARNING
Danger to life due to burns caused by electric arcs through short-circuit currents
Short-circuit currents in the battery can cause heat build-up and electric arcs. Heat build-up
and electric arcs may result in lethal injuries due to burns.
•Remove watches, rings and other metal objects prior to carrying out any work on the
battery.
•Use insulated tools for all work on the battery.
•Do not place tools or metal parts on the battery.

2.2.5 Surge protection
Over voltages (e. g. in the event of a flash of lightning) can be further conducted into the
building and to other connected devices in the same network via the network cables or other
data cables if there is no surge protection. Touching live parts and cables results in death or
lethal injuries due to electric shock.
Ensure that the system is integrated into the existing surge protection.
2.2.6 Safety information of the inverter manufacturer
Please read and observe all safety information of the inverter manufacturer.
2.2.7 Response to Emergency Situation.
In case any of the following accidents occurs, follow the methods given below for handling. The
battery system is designed to prevent the hazard resulting from failure. However, BYD cannot
guarantee absolute safety.
(1) Leaking：
Observe the following precautions when the module has electrolyte leakage.
a) Stop using the battery immediately.
b) Isolate the battery and make sure that it cannot be used any longer. Contact BYD and wait
for further handling.
c) The electrolyte is slightly corrosive to the human body. Please avoid contact with it as
much as possible.
d) Clear the electrolyte with gauze or similar material.
e) If it accidentally comes into contact with the human body, rinsing it immediately with water.
If it splashes into the eye, wash it immediately with 2%~4% boric acid and seek medical
attention in hospital.
f) If you identify a spicy smell but are not sure if there is any electrolyte leakage, take the
measures for handling electrolyte leakage mentioned above.
g) Inhalation: Evacuate the contaminated area, and seek for medical help immediately.
h) Skin contact: Wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water, and seek for medical
help immediately.
i) Ingestion: Induce vomiting, and seek for medical help immediately.
(2) If a fire breaks out around the or on the battery. follow the procedure below for fire
suppression
The battery modules may catch fire when it is put into fire. In case of a fire, please make sure
that an ABC or carbon dioxide extinguisher is nearby. Water cannot be used to extinguish the
fire.
Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus are required for the firefighters
to extinguish the fire.

2. Cut off the power supply.
3. If the battery is not on fire yet, extinguish the fire before the battery catches fire，
4. Suppress fire by using dry powder/ CO2 extinguisher.
a) Open the system and press the fire extinguisher discharge lever.
b) Aim the hose at the base of the flame.
5. Remove the battery from the fire source if possible.
6. If the battery has caught fire, do not attempt to extinguish the fire. Please evacuate
people immediately.
3. Location of Installation.
Requirements
1. This product is intended for indoor use only. The protection level is IP20.
2. The system installation requires a flat, level and hard surface. It requires the floor can bear
at least 1.8 tons weight per m2
3. The system can be operated in temperature range of -10°C to 50°C and maximum relative
humidity without exceeding 85%. The recommended temperature range is between10° C
to 30°C. If the room or the environment is out of recommended range, an air conditioner
should be equipped. Different Warranty is applicable on different temperature range, please
refer the Warranty letter for details. Exposure to harsh temperatures may impact battery
performance and life.
4. This product should not be placed in an environment with corrosive atmospheres.
5. If this product is installed in a coastal area or a farm, the room should be additionally
reinforced to ensure that the product would not be damaged during operation. If the
installation location is vulnerable to flooding, be sure to install the product in a position that
is out of reach of the flood.
6. The installation location should have an altitude not exceeding 2000 m, with a straight line
distance not less than 10km from the sea. If the cases are outsides the limits, please
contact BYD for case evaluation
7. Install the product in a position without exposure to direct sunlight and at least 2 meters
from fire source.
8. Firefighting equipment should be provided nearby.
9. The location should be free of obvious electromagnetic interference.
10. Assembling the Storage System must be done in the final desired destination, afterwards
moving the battery is no longer possible.
Space for installation.
The available space reserved for this product should at least meet the requirement shown as
following. (See figure 1)
There could be a possible explosion when batteries are heated above 150℃， When the
battery pack is burning, it leaks poisonous gases, Do not approach
