2. INTRODUCTION
2.1. Thank you for buying jDome BikeAround!
jDome is an activation tool aimed at stimulating the associative memory by
combining physical activity with cognitive stimuli, under the guidance and
support from a Passenger, that is, a trained healthcare professional or a family
member or friend who is familiar with the product.
Physical activity and cognitive input are believed to have an important impact
on the feeling of wellbeing for patients with dementia, by helping them sleep
better, enjoy their meals more and by connecting to memories of the past in a
fun way, together with others.
2.2. Intended use
jDome BikeAround is a stationary bicycle intended to be used as an activation
and exploration tool suitable for, but not limited to, people with disabilities such
as acquired brain injury, dementia, intellectual/cognitive disabilities, or who
have suffered from a stroke. It offers the possibility for the user to make virtual
visits to places all over the world via projected images.
jDome BikeAround can be used on a daily basis for activating both heart and
mind. A healthcare professional or a family member should always accompany
the User, to offer support and to ask questions that facilitate communication,
help bring stories and memories to life and that encourage conversation and
physical activity.
jDome BikeAround is not intended to be used as a toy.

3. ASSEMBLY
3.1. Placement considerations
To guarantee as clear and vivid an image as possible, make sure no overhead
lighting is positioned directly above the dome that may interfere with the
projected image. Also do not place jDome BikeAround in direct sunlight.
3.2. Assembling jDome BikeAround
To see a 3D rendition of jDome BikeAround when it is fully assembled, you can
use the image on the back side of this Manual and your mobile phone with the
jDome app installed. Follow the instructions on the last page of the Manual.
Follow the steps below to assemble the unit:
1. Take out the cables that are placed on top of all parts in the bag.
2. Take out the oormat and roll it out where you want to place the jDome
BikeAround unit. The assembled jDome unit is quite heavy, so make sure to
place it where you want it from the start. The bottom side of the oor mat
is rubberized to improve stability.

3. Take the dome screen out of the bag and prop it against a wall. Do not lay
the dome screen on the oor.
4. Take the frame legs out of the bag. Place the fork of the frame on the oor
and fold out the frame legs.
5. Fold out both frame legs to an angle where leg and bracket align. With the
frame in this position, fasten the locking screws.

6. Place the dome frame into the leg frame. The easiest way to do this is to
use your legs to support the frame while you push the dome frame into
place.
7. Pull out the pin in the fork of the frame to adjust the frame support legs
sideways. You may have to move the parts at the junction a little bit in
order to pull the pin out.

8. When you have pulled the pin out, pull the frame support legs apart until
you hear the pin snap back into a locking position.
9. Fold out the dome screen with a sweeping upwards motion, while holding
the center of its lower outer frame.
10. Carefully unfold the lower part of the dome support until the dome locking
pins snap into place.
11. Make sure all the pins snap into position at the frame fastening point, like
this:

12. On the computer stand, unscrew the locking screw.
13. Push the arm of the computer stand gently through the square frame
bracket to the right of the dome. Make sure you put the locking screw back
into place. If this screw is not in place, the computer may fall to the oor.
14. Open the cable ducts on the frame leg and insert all four cables
connected to the computer stand. Click the cable ducts shut.

15. Slide the projector arm parts together.
16. Place the projector arm in the fork at the front end of the support frame,
the arm pointing away from the dome. Fasten it by tightening the screws
on the projector arm.

17. Fasten the projector, with the lens facing the dome, by using the locking
screw on the projector support at the top of the projector arm. This screw
ts the thread placed in the middle of the bottom panel of the projector.
18. Plug the mains cable and the HDMI connector from the projector arm
into the projector. Do not pull the cables. Make sure the connectors are
properly inserted.
19. Connect the cables from the frame cable duct to the ones extending from
the projector arm; mains cable to mains splitter, HDMI to HDMI extension.
Connect the USB connector from the cable duct to the USB hub, and the
network connector to the network jack.
20. Push the USB extension into place in the black cable duct on the oor.
21. Plug the USB cable at the other end of the oor cable duct into the USB hub.

22. Place the bicycle unit in front of the dome, with the little black box in front
of the handlebar joint almost touching the dome; the user should be
completely surrounded by the dome screen.
23. Connect the two USB connectors from the bicycle unit to the USB hub
extending from the cable duct on the oor.
24. Connect the mains, USB, network and HDMI cables from the computer arm
cover to the computer, then push the computer gently to the left so that
the connectors are hidden under the cable cover.
25. Make any necessary adjustments to the bicycle unit: You can make the
bicycle unit more stable by loosening the locking screw (1), then pulling
out the unit’s oor support and tightening the locking screw again. The
angle of the handlebar can be changed by loosening the locking screw
(2), adjusting the angle and then tightening the locking screw again. You
can adjust the resistance of the pedals by turning the knob on the front of
the pedal housing (3).

4. DISASSEMBLY
4.1. Disassembling jDome BikeAround
1. Pull out the mains plug. Do not pull the cable.
2. Disconnect all cables at the bottom of the frame.
3. Open the cable ducts.
4. Disconnect all cables from the computer and remove it from the
computer stand.
5. Unscrew the locking screw at the top of the computer stand and remove
the stand from the frame by gently pulling it out of the bracket. Put the
locking screw back in place.
6. Remove the projector by unscrewing the locking screw on the projector
support. The projector is only fastened by this single crew, so hold the
projector with one hand while you unscrew the locking screw, to protect
the projector from falling to the oor. When you have removed the
projector, put the locking screw back in place.
7. To remove the projector stand, unlock the locking screws in the front fork
of the frame. Then lift the projector arm out of the fork.
8. To fold the dome, pull out the locking pins on each side of it. Fold the dome
by holding the center of its lower outer frame, and gently push its upper
part downwards.
9. Pull out the lower frame pin and push the frame legs together at the same
time. You may need to move the legs a little to be able to pull the pin out.
10. Remove the dome screen by pulling its stand out of the frame. Prop the
dome against a wall.
11. Loosen the locking screws on the frame legs, just enough to fold the frame
legs together.
