INTENDED USE
The product is a device for event technology!
This product has been developed for professional use in the field of event technology and is not
suitable for use as domestic lighting!
Furthermore, this product is only intended for qualified users with specialist knowledge of event
technology!
Use of the product outside the specified technical data and operating conditions is considered
inappropriate!
Liability for damage and third-party damage to persons and property due to inappropriate use is
excluded!
The product is not suitable for:
- persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experi-
ence and knowledge.
- children (children must be instructed not to play with the device).

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
HAZARD:
1. Do not open the device and do not perform any modifications.
2. If your device no longer functions properly, if liquids or objects get inside it or if it
has been damaged in any other way, switch it off immediately and unplug it from
the power source. The device may be repaired only by authorised repair techni-
cians.
3. For devices of protection class 1, the protective conductor must be connected
correctly. Never disconnect the protective conductor. Devices of protection class 2
do not have a protective conductor.
4. Ensure that live cables are not kinked or otherwise mechanically damaged.
5. Never bypass the device fuse.
WARNING:
1. The device may not be operated if it shows obvious signs of damage.
2. The device may only be installed in a voltage-free state.
3. If the device's power cable is damaged, the device may not be used.
4. Permanently connected power cables may only be replaced by a qualified person.

CAUTION:
1. Do not switch on the device if it has been exposed to extreme temperature fluctu-
ations (for example, following transport). Moisture and condensation can damage
the device. Switch on the device only when it has reached room temperature.
2. Ensure that the voltage and frequency of the mains supply match the values
specified on the device. If the device has a voltage selector switch, do not connect
the device until it has been set correctly. Use only suitable power cables.
3. To disconnect the device from the mains on all poles, it is not sufficient to press
the on/off switch on the device.
4. Make sure that the fuse used corresponds to the type printed on the device.
5. Ensure that suitable measures have been taken against overvoltage (e.g. lightning
strikes).
6. Observe the specified maximum output current on devices with a Power Out con-
nection. Ensure that the total current consumption of all connected devices does
not exceed the specified value.
7. Replace plug-in power cables with original cables only.
HAZARD:
1. Choking hazard! Plastic bags and small parts must be kept out of reach of per-
sons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
2. Risk of falling! Make sure that the device is securely installed and will not fall
down. Only use suitable stands or mounts (particularly for fixed installations).
Ensure that accessories are properly installed and secured. Ensure that applicable
safety regulations are observed.
WARNING:
1. Use the device in the prescribed manner only.
2. Operate the device using only accessories of the type recommended and supplied
by the manufacturer.
3. Observe safety regulations applicable in your country during installation.
4. After connecting the device, ensure that all cables are routed so as to avoid dam-
age or accidents, such as from tripping.
5. Always observe the specified minimum distance to normally flammable materials!
Unless explicitly stated, the minimum distance is 0.3 m.
6. Always observe the minimum distance to the illuminated surface, which can be
read on the device!

CAUTION:
1. Moving components such as mounting brackets may become jammed.
2. In the case of devices with motor-driven components, there is a risk of injury due
to the movement of the device. Sudden movement of the device can cause shock
reactions.
CAUTION:
1. Do not install or use the device in the vicinity of radiators, accumulators, stoves,
or other heat sources. Ensure that the device is always installed in such a way
that it is sufficiently cooled and cannot overheat.
2. Do not place any ignition sources, such as burning candles, near the device.
3. Ventilation openings must not be covered and fans must not be blocked.
4. For transport, use the original packaging or packaging provided by the manufac-
turer.
5. Avoid any impacts to or shaking of the device.
6. Observe the IP rating and the ambient conditions such as temperature and hu-
midity according to the specifications.
7. Devices can be continuously further developed. In the event of deviating informa-
tion on operating conditions, performance or other device properties between the
user manual and the device labelling, the information on the device always has
priority.
8. The device is not suitable for tropical climate zones or for operation over 2,000 m
above sea level.
9. Unless explicitly stated, the device is not suitable for operation under marine
conditions.
CAUTION! IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING LIGHTING PRODUCTS!
1. Never look directly into the beam of light, not even for a short period of time.
2. Never look into the beam of light using optical devices such as a magnifying
glass.
3. Stroboscopic effects may cause epileptic seizures in susceptible individuals!

BATTERY DEVICES AND CHARGERS
HAZARD:
1. Keep the battery-powered device away from heat sources and do not expose it to
direct sunlight. Do not place it on or in heating appliances, such as microwaves,
ovens or radiators. Batteries can explode if overheated. Always observe the
care instructions and ensure the ambient conditions are appropriate! These are
detailed in the technical specifications.
2. Do not open the device! Do not modify the battery and do not attempt to replace
the battery cells!
3. Battery cells or battery packs must not be damaged. Do not remove any pro-
tective film or stickers. Do not insert any foreign objects into the battery. Do not
allow liquids to get into the battery. There is a risk of fire and explosion as well as
other dangerous situations (e.g. outgassing).
4. If the device becomes deformed or overheats, stop using the device immediately!
If you continue to operate the device, there is a risk of fire and explosion, as well
as a risk of other dangerous situations (e.g. outgassing).
5. Do not throw the device into a fire! Explosion hazard!
6. Avoid strong mechanical effects on the device! Damage caused by falling, crush-
ing or piercing as well as high pressure lead to the risk of fire and explosion as
well as the risk of other dangerous situations (e.g. outgassing).
7. Only charge the device or battery in the intended manner.
8. Please note that the charging function cannot be deactivated by the device main
switch on all devices.
9. In the case of charging devices integrated in transport cases, charging may only
be carried out when the cover is open.
10. Leaked liquid is corrosive and can be toxic. It can cause skin and eye irritation
and is dangerous if swallowed. Avoid any contact with spilled liquid. In the event
of contact with leaked fluid, immediately wash the affected area with plenty of
water and contact a doctor.

HOW TO CHARGE, USE AND STORE BATTERIES
1. To charge permanently installed batteries, connect the device to the correct
power supply. Please note that the charging function cannot be deactivated by
the device main switch on all devices.
2. The charging time for a full charge of the battery can be found in the technical
data. For information on how to display the battery charge status, see chapter
OPERATION.
3. Devices with lithium batteries are equipped with the usual protective features.
4. Do not charge the battery outside the ambient conditions specified in the techni-
cal data. Unless otherwise specified, these are between +5° and +35° Celsius in
dry environments.
5. The permissible ambient conditions for operation can be found in the technical
data. Unless otherwise specified, these must not be below +5°C or above +35°C
in dry environments.
6. The permissible ambient temperature for storage can be found in the technical
data. Unless otherwise specified, these must not be below +5°C or above +35°C
in dry environments.
7. Fully recharge the battery soon after discharge.
8. Only store the device with a fully charged battery. Batteries that are not fully
charged may lose capacity and service life prematurely.
9. If the device is not to be used for a longer period of time, perform a full discharge
and charge cycle no later than every 3 months.
10. The appliance's main switch must be switched off during storage.
11. The specified battery operating times always refer to a new battery and normal
operating conditions.
12. • In cold environments, battery life may be shorter than stated.
13. If the operating time of the device in battery operation deviates significantly from
the specifications, please contact your distribution partner.

NOTES FOR MOBILE INDOOR DEVICES
1. Temporary operation! Event equipment is generally only designed for temporary
operation.
2. Continuous operation or permanent installation can impair the functioning of the
device and cause premature ageing.

INTRODUCTION
The Cameo UNICON®is a powerful DMX/RDM controller specially designed for installation lighting
and an indispensable everyday companion for a lighting technician. Connect the handy control
unit to the spotlight to be operated via 5-pin DMX or RJ45 cable and gain full control of all settings
options. Even in bright sunlight, the large TFT touch screen displays the associated menu, which
you can navigate through by touch, as well as with the encoder wheel and back button.
PLEASE NOTE
The operation of a compatible Cameo spotlight using the UNICON remote unit is described in
detail in the operating instructions for the corresponding spotlight.

1DMX IN / OUT RJ45
DMX inputs and outputs with an RJ45 interface for receiving data and controlling DMX devices.
The device has 1 DMX universe that can optionally be routed to one of the 4 wire pairs. The +
and– contacts are intended for both DMX input and DMX output.

DMX input and output with a 5-pin XLR socket for receiving data and controlling DMX devices. The
XLR socket is intended for both DMX input and DMX output.

1. Charging socket for charging the internal battery. For this purpose, commercially available 5 V
chargers with a USB-C plug can be used (recommended charging current 1,000 mA).

The UNICON remote unit has both a touch display and a rotary-push encoder with an
additional BACK key. Both operating elements provide full access to all unit options.
7TOUCH DISPLAY
Illuminated touch colour display. Navigate in the main menu and sub-menus by using the pressu-
re-sensitive buttons (up), (down), (back) and (confirm). Change the numerical value or status in
a menu item using the and buttons, confirm the change by pressing .
8ROTARY-PUSH ENCODER
Rotary-push encoder for navigating in the main menu and sub-menus, adjusting system settings
and changing numerical values and status in the corresponding menu items. Select the individual
menu items in the main menu and in the sub-menus by turning the encoder and confirm the se-
lection by pressing the encoder. Change the numerical value or status in a menu item by turning
the encoder and confirm the change by pressing the encoder.
9BACK
A. Press BACK briefly to switch on the device and for about 2 seconds to switch it off.
B. Press BACK to go up one level in the menu structure.

OPERATION
When the UNICON remote unit is started (press BACK briefly), “Software Update– Please wait”
(for service purposes only) is shown on the display for a short time and then the control panels
and battery status are shown briefly on the display. The start-up procedure is completed after a
few seconds, the main menu is shown in the display and then the device is operational. Connect
the remote unit to one or more RDM devices using DMX or network cables. The DMX Test and
DMX Receive functions are also available for DMX devices that do not have the RDM standard.
DEVICE MENU (RDM/Fixture)
Select the menu item RDM/Fixture and confirm the selection. A list of all connected RDM devices
is then displayed (in the example H1 FC/H1 FC and H1 D/H1 D; the first part of the displayed RDM
device shows the device model, the second part after "/" is an additional designation that can be
adapted in the Label menu item for easier identification). Select the desired RDM device in the list
and confirm the selection (in the example H1 FC/H1 FC).

RDM are now displayed.

UID: Individual and unchangeable identification number of the selected RDM
device (Unique Identifier)

Connect the UNICON to a DMX device via DMX cable to check the functions. These can be control-
led via DMX. For this purpose, any values from 000 to 255 can be transmitted manually on all 512
channels.
In the main menu, select DMX Test, confirm the selection, then select Manual and confirm again.
The DMX channels with DMX values are now displayed. Select the desired channel, confirm the
selection, set the value as desired and confirm the entry. All values are reset to 000 the next time
the UNICON is restarted.

DMX TESTER– SAVE SCENE (DMX Test– Store Scene)
Four individual scenes with up to 10 steps each can be created, saved and retrieved in UNICON.
In the main menu, select DMX Test, confirm the selection, then select Store Scene and confirm
again. Now select the scene you want to edit and confirm the selection (Scene 1– Scene 4). The
submenu for editing the corresponding scene is now displayed.

In the main menu, select DMX Test, confirm the selection, then select Execute Scene and con-
firm again. Now select the scene to be executed and confirm the selection (Scene 1– Scene 4).

RECEIVE DMX SIGNALS (DMX Receive)
Cameo UNICON provides the option of checking whether a connected DMX device is transmitting
DMX signals and which DMX values are present on the corresponding DMX channels. In the main
menu, select DMX Receive and confirm.
Further information is displayed in the upper area of the display, see table.

The Cameo UNICON offers the option of updating compatible Cameo DMX devices via network or
DMX cables. Save the corresponding update file on a micro SD card and insert it into the micro SD
card reader on the back.
In the main menu, select Update Fixture and confirm.

After you have started the update process, several pieces of information about the process and
the update progress are displayed as a percentage. As soon as the update process is comple-
ted, “Finish” is displayed. To exit the menu level, press or the encoder. Check the firmware
version in the menu item RDM/Fixture or in the device menu.
UNICON SYSTEM SETTINGS (Settings)
Select Settings and confirm. The menu items in the submenu for editing the system settings are
now displayed.
