Thank you for buying a Carry Freedom
trailer. These instrucons will help you get
the most out of your new Y trailer.
Read these instrucons carefully before use.
IMPORTANT:
It is your responsibility to understand
these instrucons. We do not accept
responsibility for how you use, modify,
ride, or load the trailer. You must decide if
what you are doing with the trailer is safe,
within your ability, and within the law.
Please check your highway laws concern-

Assembly
Fix the frame (#4) to the load bed (#7), using the bolts,
washers and nuts provided (#6). The frame is aached to
the non-griptape side of the loadbed (#7).
Important: We also suggest a drop of oil on the thread to
make the assembly easier.
Slide the tow bar (#1) into the main frame (#4) unl its
hole aligns with the frame hole.
Slide the safety pin (#8) through the frame and tow bar
handle and secure. The tow bar can also be xed to stop
noise using the clamp bolts (#5) on the frame.
Screw the two red reectors (#14) to the load bed.
Screw the two white front reectors (#15) to the load bed.
Fit the red lollypop elastomer (#18) with the safety strap
(#11) to the tow bar end with the screw, washer and
binder bolt.
The safety strap (#11) is used as in drawing 7.
Check the the res to determine the le and right side
wheel. Push the buon on the end of the axle (#9), and
insert into the wheel.
Important!
Grease the axle before inserng into the frame.
Push the axle through the wheel and insert the wheel into
the trailer frame.
Insert a rubber hub cap (#10) to cover the axle end.
Pull at the wheel to ensure it is secure. If not see Adjusng
axle length on Page 6.
The rubber hub caps can fall out but this does not shorten
the bearing life of the wheel, as the inside bearing has the
most strain. Secure the caps with a drop of super glue or
by using a zip e between two opposing spokes.
Flag and Light Holder
This holder (#21) is ed to the road side of the trailer,
using the last side hole on the load bed. The hole is pre-
drilled. Fix a LED-Light to this even if you live in a country
where rear lights are not mandatory. Safety rst. Use a
ag for even beer visibility - 6,5mm ag pole size
Deecon device
The deecon device (#12) consists of two black plasc
wings. Bend them and bolt them to the right and le side
of the load bed using the bolts and nuts (#13) in the box.
The deecon device should be assmbled under the load
bed. See drawing 13

Hitch
The bike bracket (#16) for your trailer is xed
permanently to your bike. The trailer hooks to this,
and is secured by the safety pin (#19). The bike
bracket will t almost all axle types, both threaded
and quick release.
This bracket uses your exisng quick release
skewer or wheel axle. Avoid removing any exisng
washers or springs of the bike axle assembly. A
washer to centralise the QR axle (#17) on the bike
bracket is included.
The trailer is now assembled. See drawing 13
below. The ag holder is also assembled.
IMPORTANT: Make sure there is at least 4 mm
thread on your QR skewer or threaded axle. And use
the safety strap as shown in drawing 6.
Be careful that the hitch does not aect the func-
on of the axle assembly.
IMPORTANT: Aer cycling for 1 km inspect the
hitch to make sure it is secure, has not twisted, and
the wheel has not moved.
Loading the Y
The Y trailer can accept most loads. You can bolt
containers directly to the frame or load bed, strap
things down, or t a box with our box quick release
system.
Loading directly - Any load can be ed down onto
the an slip surface of the load bed. The four holes
in the load bed can be used as e down points, as
can the aluminium frame below the load bed. Regu-
larly check the load is secure and has not slipped.
Bags - Most bags or suitcases can be strapped
directly to the load bed using the enclosed straps.
Waterproof Ortlieb Rack Packs can clip directly to
the load bed, the 48 l for the Y small, and the 90 l
for the Y large. Carradice of Nelson make a special
Y-Bag for Carry Freedom Y small. See www.ortlieb.
