1. General Rules
Please read the warnings and rules in this User’s Manual carefully before using
or handling the machine in any way because they provide important information
regarding safety and hygiene when operating the machine.
Keep this booklet handy for easy reference.
• This appliance is used for grinding coffee beans and dosing the ground coffee for expresso coffee
machines. Any other use is considered irregular.
• The appliance must be installed in a place where it is only used by carefully trained staff that
knows the risks tied to using the appliance.
• The appliance is for professional use only.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand
the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
Use by minors, with or without adult supervision, must not contravene local employment laws.
• Never leave the appliance unattended while it is in use.
• The appliance must not be used outdoors.
• Do not expose the appliance to atmospheric agents (rain, sun, and cold).
• Do not clean the appliance with jets of water.

information regarding safe installation, use and maintenance of the machine.
Keep this booklet handy for easy reference.

Packaging
• The appliance is delivered in a robust cardboard package, with appropriate internal protection.
The package features the standard symbols indicating rules to be followed when handling and
storing the machine.
• Transport must be carried out according to the instructions on the package, handling with
appropriate caution and avoiding impact of any type.
• Do not expose the machine to atmospheric agents (rain, sun, and cold).
Checks on receipt
• On receipt of the appliance, carefully check all transport documentation is correct (against label
on package).
• Check that the original packaging is not damaged.
• After removing the appliance from its packing materials, make sure that the appliance and its
safety devices are intact.
• Packing materials (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, staples, etc.) must be kept out of the
reach of children because they are potentially hazardous.
Advice for disposal of packaging
The packaging materials are eco-compatible and recyclable. For the protection of the
environment they must not be dumped, but taken to a recovery / waste-disposal
centre, according to local regulations.
Handling
Staff responsible for moving the machine must realize the risks in moving heavy loads.
Move the machine carefully, using, where possible, the correct lifting equipment (fork lift, for
example).
If moving the machine by hand, make sure:

2.1 Transport and handling

• Before plugging in the machine, make sure that the information on the nameplate (voltage, etc.)
matches that of the electrical.
• Check the condition of the power supply cord; if it is damaged it must be replaced.
• Completely unwind the power-supply cable.

• Room temperature must range between 50° and 90°F (10°C and 32°C).
• An electrical outlet must be in the immediate vicinity.
• Do not install in rooms (kitchens) that are cleaned with jets of water.
• Do not obstruct openings or ventilation and heat vents.
• Do not install the machine outdoors.
• Do not install or use the appliance in potentially explosive environments.

2.2 Installation Rules
Prior to installation, make sure there is a circuit breaker installed with a distance between the contacts
that allows for complete disconnection when there is a category III overload and that provides
protection against current leakage equal to 30 mA. The circuit breaker must be installed on the power
supply in compliance with installation rules.

caused by the lack of an earthing system on the electrical supply.
Do not use adaptors, multiple plugs, and/or extension cords.
Check that the type of connection and voltage correspond with the information on the nameplate.
3. Electrical Installation Rules
4. Equipotential Connection
This type of connection, required by some laws, prevents differences in the electric potential level between the earthing
connections of equipment installed in the same room.
This machine is provided with a clamp underneath the base for connection to an external equipotential cable.
After installation, this type of connection MUST be made:
• Use a cable with a nominal section in compliance with the laws in force.
• Connect one end of the cable to the clamp and the other end to the earthing of adjacent equipment.
Failure to follow this safety norm releases the manufacturer from any responsibility for machine breakdowns or damage
to people or property.
NOTE: DO NOT CONNECT TO THE POWER SUPPLY EARTHING BECAUSE IT IS NOT CONSIDERED AN
EQUIPOTENTIAL CABLE CONNECTION.
Bear in mind that Gruppo Cimbali S.p.A. is not
responsible for damage caused by improper electrical
connections, and that the installer is responsible for
any damage.

5. Positioning the hopper
Afterremovingthepackingmaterials,placethereceptacle
(2) on the grinder and fasten it using the ring nut (A).
The grinder only works when the ring nut (A)
has been completely tightened.

6. Caution
GENERAL
The manufacturer disclaims all liability for
damages to items or persons due to improper
use or due to the appliance being used for
purposes other than its intended use.
Do not operate the appliance with wet hands or
bare feet.
Ensurethattheapplianceisnotusedbychildren
or persons who have not been instructed in its
correct use.
THERMAL PROTECTOR
The thermal protector cuts in if the motor gets
overheated due to malfunction.
Allowtheappliance tocooldownbeforeswitching
it on again.
If the problem is repeated, call the authorized
servicing department.
COFFEE STORAGE
Always use fresh coffee beans and store in jars
orwaterproof,sealedbags.Keep away fromlight
sources and store in a cool, dry place.
Try to use up all the coffee in the doser at the
endoftheworkingdaysinceit can lose itsaroma
and spoil.
MACHINE CLOSE-DOWN
When the machine is left unattended
for a prolonged period (for example
out of hours), carry out the following steps:
• Remove the plug or turn off the main
switch;
• Empty the coffee beans receptacle and
the ground coffee doser;
• Clean as indicated in the dedicated
chapter.

7. Maintenance and Repairs
Ifthemachineisnotworking properly, turnoffthe
machine, turn off the main off-on switch, and call
the service centre.
If the power-supply cord is damaged, switch off
themachineandrequestareplacementfromthe
service center.

8. Dismantling the machine
Electrical equipment cannot be disposed of as
ordinary urban waste. Suitable differentiated waste disposal so
that the machine can then be recycled,
treated and disposed of in an
environmentally friendly manner contributes
to avoiding possible negative effects on the
environment and health, and encourages the
reuseand/orrecycling ofthematerials fromwhich
the machine is made.
Improperdisposalofelectricequipmentthatfails
to respect the laws in force will be subject to

To protect the environment, please proceed
in compliance with the local laws in force.

9. Daily Switch-On
Preliminary operations
Check that the coffee beans receptacle (2) is correctly
positioned on the grinder-doser. Lift the lid (1DQG¿OOZLWK
coffee beans. Check that the gate (3) is open, pulling it
towards the outside.
The grinder only works when the ring nut (A)
has been completely tightened.
WARNING: this appliance is provided with
delayed “ON/OFF” automatic device

Automatic Grinder-Doser
Turn the appliance on by turning switch (11) to “1”.
This appliance has an automatic cut-off switch that
intervenes every time the doser (6KDVVXI¿FLHQWJURXQG
coffee.Ifswitch(11)is left on position “1” thegrinder-doser
willstartautomaticallyeverytimethelevelof ground coffee
QHHGVWREH¿OOHGXS
At the end of the working day, switch off the appliance by
turning the general switch (11) to “0”.
On Demand Grinder-Doser
Turn the appliance on by turning switch (11) to “1”.
In the On Demand version, when the grinder has been
switched on, the display (10) shows the time set for the
coffee dose (single and double) and a bar indicates the
coffee granulometry with related reference value.
At the end of the working day, switch off the appliance by
turning the general switch (11) to “0”.

10. Regulating the grind
Note. These operations must be performed with the
appliance off.
Automatic Grinder-Doser
The machine may be adjusted for different grindings (from
¿QHWRFRXUVH YLDDVFUHZ 4) as shown on the graded
indicator (18).
On Demand Grinder-Doser
Automatic dose adjustment system.
With each adjustment of the grinders, the grinding
time for the coffee doses is automatically adjusted
according to the selected granulometry.
In the On Demand version, adjust the screw (4) on the
JULQGHUIRUGLIIHUHQWW\SHVRIFRIIHHJURXQGV¿QHRUFRDUVH
Variations are shown on the display screen as follows:
• Fine grounds › short granulometry bar, low reference
value;
• Coarsegrounds›longgranulometrybar,highreference
value.
If the coffee is dispensed too slowly, the grind of the coffee
EHDQV LV WRR ¿QH 7XUQ WKH ULQJ QXW 4) anticlockwise to
obtain a coarser grind (the numbers on the indicator
increase: 2 - 3 - 4 - …).
Ifthecoffeeisdispensedtooquickly, the grind of the coffee
beans is too coarse. Turn the ring nut (4) clockwise to
REWDLQD¿QHUJULQGWKHQXPEHUVRQWKHULQJQXWGHFUHDVH

The ground coffee slides down the chute (16) the icon of
the selected dose (single or double ) appears on the

Grinding can be interrupted at any time by pressing the
previously enabled dose key again.

doses dispensed will appear on the display (10):

Automatic Grinder-Doser
To regulate the ground coffee doses for each withdrawal,
after lifting the lid (5) of the coffee distributor, turn the dose
regulating screw (17).
Toincreasetheamountofgroundcoffeeturnanti-clockwise.
To decrease the amount of ground coffee turn clockwise.
On Demand Grinder-Doser
Automatic Dose Adjustment
This function is set in the factory and allows doses to be
adjusted automatically.
A different adjustment cannot be applied to each key but
will be universal with a value between 0.1% and 10%. The
default value will be 3.5%.
Manual Dose Adjustment
Follow these steps to increase or decrease the ground
coffee dose:
Single Dose
1. Press and hold down the key ;
2. After a few seconds, the programming icon will
appear on the display (10).
3. Change the grinding time using the or keys (in
the range 1.0”–30.0”);
4. Press the key WRFRQ¿UPWKHQHZWLPH
Double Dose
Follow these steps to increase or decrease the double
coffee dose:
1. Press and hold down the key ;
2. After a few seconds, the programming icon will
appear on the display (10).
3. Change the grinding time using the or keys (in
the range 1.0”–30.0”);

Manual operation
The grinder can also work in continuous or manual mode.

13. Cleaning Operations
For correct application of the food safety
system (HACCP), please follow the
instructions in this paragraph.
ON DEMAND VERSION
General
To be performed at the end of the working day.
The grinder-doser should be cleaned periodically, with
specialattentiongivento thoseareasthatcomeintocontact
with the coffee.
To clean, follow these procedures:
Always switch off the appliance at switch (11)
and cut off from the mains via the omnipolar
switch.
Do not immerse the appliance in water.
Cleaning the coffee beans receptacle (2)
Closethegate(3)bypushingittowardstheinside;Unscrew
theringnut(A)anddetachthereceptacle(2)fromthegrinder.
Remove any remaining coffee from the coffee beans
receptacle (2); wash it (removing any organic residue)
with a damp cloth using methods and detergents suitable
to objects that come into contact with foodstuffs. Rinse
thoroughly and dry.
Before replacing the coffee beans receptacle (2) on the
grinder-doser, ensure that all the parts have been dried
thoroughly.
Cleaning the Ground Coffee Doser (6) (Automaticversion
only)
7RFOHDQWKHGRVHU¿UVWUHPRYHDOOWKHJURXQGFRIIHH
and remove the lid (5). Using a brush, clean the inside
surfaces and the dosing star, rotating it. Remove any
organic residue.
Store the brush in a sheltered place and use it exclusively
for cleaning the grinder-doser in order to prevent it from
being contaminated by foreign substances.
Donotcleanthedoseroritspartswithliquidsor
damp cloths.
Bodywork
Clean the bodywork of the appliance with a soft cloth and
use products that DO NOT contain ammonia or abrasive
substances. Remove any organic residue.
Note. Do not spray liquids inside the openings of the
appliance.

When cleaning, pay close attention to the

14. Malfunctions – Faults
Direct intervention by the customer
In order to avoid unnecessary costs, ensure that the problem occurring in the machine is not included in the following
table before calling the servicing department.
DEFECT
Theappliancedoesnotfunctionandthe
indicator light ON (11) is off.
The appliance does not work and the
indicator light ON (11) is on.
The appliance functions correctly but
ground coffee is not dispensed.
REMEDY
Check that the electricity is on.
Check the position of the mains switch
(11).
Wait until the appliance has cooled
down.
Pull the gate (3) towards the outside to
open the passage of the coffee to the
grinder.
CAUSE
No electricity.
Thermal protector has cut in.
