DODGE® On-Premise Gateway
Installation Manual

1
These instructions must be read thoroughly before installation or operation. This
instruction manual was accurate at the time of printing.
1 GENERAL
The Dodge On-Premise Gateway is used to send data of the Smart
Sensor for mechanical products to industrial control systems that
support EtherNet/IP™ or OPC Unied Architecture (UA) such as
PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMIs (Human-Machine
Interface).
This gateway needs to be connected to a local area network (LAN) via
wired or WiFi conguration, and sensors need to be assigned to the
gateway before it can start reading them.
The sales package includes:
• X2000 Bluetooth router, wall and pole mounting kits, a
Cassia Quick Start Guide, and a Dodge On-Premise Gateway
Installation Manual.
• Procet PoE Injector power supply, with power cord.

2.1 Prerequisites for Installation
Sensor Commissioning:
• Use the ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor mobile app to
commission sensors. Prior to commissioning the sensors, it is
necessary to have the following:
- An ABB account
- An organization
Remember to update the rmware of the sensors after they
have been commissioned.
Refer to section 1-4 of the user guide for the Smart Sensor
Platform app and web portal for mechanical products to get
started:

tID=9AKK107991A8494&LanguageCode=en&Document-
PartId=&Action=Launch

4
Sensor Monitoring, OPC-UA Server, and EtherNet/IP
configurations:
• Use the On-Premise Gateway User Guide to learn how to add
and monitor sensors in the gateway and to congure the OPC-
UA Server and the EtherNet/IP.

tID=MN3093&LanguageCode=en&DocumentPartId=&Ac-
tion=Launch
Local Network Configuration:
• Connect gateway to a local area network via wired or Wi-Fi
conguration.
• OPC-UA clients or EtherNet/IP devices need to be allowed on
the same subnet as the gateway.
Power Supply:
• In case PoE network is not available, the PoE injector (power
supply) provided in the sales package is required.
• PoE is 802.3af/at compliant.

5
Ethernet Cable:
• Two Ethernet cables are needed when wired conguration to
local area network is used. See section 2.4.1.
• One Ethernet cable is needed when WiFi conguration to local
area network is used. See section 2.4.2.
Computer:
• A computer with WiFi adapter is needed for gateway
conguration. A tablet computer or mobile phone can also be
used.
• Google Chrome web browser is recommended.
Mounting:
• Mounting is not mandatory, but it is recommended to secure
the gateway to its intended location.
• For more information about mounting the gateway, please
refer to the Quick User Guide included in the sales package.
2.2 Recommended Location
Height:
• The recommended height for the gateway is 10-100 feet
(3 and 30 meters) from ground level. Lower levels are also
acceptable, but the gateway Bluetooth range might be shorter
due to obstacles.
Orientation:
• The gateway has the best reception when turned in the

6
direction of product side with the Dodge logo. If the gateway
has trouble connecting to a specic Smart Sensor, it is
recommended to rotate the gateway in this direction.
2.3 Gateway Conguration
When the gateway is powered on, the green PWR LED at the bottom
of the gateway turns ON. After bootup, the gateway will turn on the
conguration WiFi hotspot. The bootup takes about 30-60 seconds.
Conguration WiFi hotspot has SSID “cassia-XXXXXX” - where
XXXXXX is the last 6 digits of the gateway’s MAC address. MAC
address can be found on the bottom of the gateway. The password for
this WiFi hotspot is the same as the SSID.
Connect to this WiFi hotspot with the device used for conguration
(computer, phone, or tablet) and open the web browser. Type
192 .168.40.1 to the web browser’s address eld and press enter. The
Cassia conguration page will open. The default password will need
to be changed upon rst login. The new password should include
numbers, letters, and special characters. The password length
should be between 8-20 characters. Please take note of the new
password for future use in section 2.5 of this document. Default
credentials are:
• Username: admin
• Password: admin

8
Once logged in, the Status Page is shown. This page shows current
operation mode and connection status of the gateway.

9
The following pages are used for gateway conguration:
• The Basic Page to connect the gateway to the local area
network via wired or WiFi configuration.
• The OPC-UA Page for sensor management if an OPC-UA
server setup is used.
• The EtherNet/IP Page for sensor management if an EtherNet/
IP interface setup is used.

10
2.4 Local Area Network Conguration
2.4.1 LAN/Ethernet Cable Connection
Use available LAN/Ethernet network to congure gateway and the PoE
injector included in package for power supply.
If a PoE (Power Over Ethernet) network is available, the
gateway can be congured without any additional power
supply.
*For more information about these components, refer to the Quick
User Guide (item 11 of the sales package).

11
From the Gateway Basic Page:
• Conrm Connection Priority is Wired (this connection priority
is set by default)
• IP Allocation: DHCP or Static (in case the IP address is given)
Press Apply at the bottom of the screen.
NOTE! Only the above options can be changed on this page.
Other options must remain as default. In case any options are
altered, please refer to Basic Page gure below.

2.4.2 WiFi Connection
The gateway can be congured to use an existing WiFi network. The
PoE injector included in the package is required for power supply.
*For more information about these components, refer to the Quick User
Guide (item 11 of the sales package).
From the Gateway Basic Page, select:

14
• Change the Wireless operation mode from Hotspot to Client
• IP Allocation: DHCP or Static (in case the IP allocation is
given)
Press Apply at the bottom of the screen.
NOTE! Only the above options can be changed on this page.
Other options must remain as default. In case any options
were altered, please refer to Figure 5 - Basic Page.
NOTE! Once the Apply button is pressed, the gateway WiFi
adapter stops sharing the WiFi hotspot and changes the
connection to congured WiFi network. In case the DHCP
is used, e.g. to check the Status Page or scan the devices
within the gateway’s range. Local IT department can nd out
the gateway’s IP address by accessing the WiFi router device
list or by performing the network scan for IP addresses. In
case a static IP is used, the address is known.
NOTE! If there was an error in SSID, password or IP address
congurations, you can no longer access the gateway. In this
case the gateway isn’t shown in WiFi router device list or in
network scans. Press the reset button at the bottom of the
gateway for 10 to 15 seconds to reset the gateway to factory
default values.

• Check the power supply and that the green PWR LED is ON at
the bottom of the gateway.
• If the gateway is congured to use a WiFi network, it does not
generate a WiFi hotspot.
• Try to reset the gateway by pressing the reset button for 10 to
15 seconds while the gateway is powered on. Reset button is
located at the bottom of the gateway.
NOTE! If gateway is reset to factory default values, some
