Wiring Winch for Operation
1. Remove cover on right side of winch and plug power cable into appropriate socket.
2. Route the power cord from the winch to the battery in such a way as to avoid any tangling or tripping hazards.
3. Connect BLACK clamp on power cable to your vehicle frame to establish a good ground connection.
4. Connect RED clamp on power cable to positive terminal (red/+) on vehicle’s battery.
5. Set remote control unit aside in a safe place until you are ready for pulling. Connect remote control unit plug into
appropriate socket just before operation and disconnect immediately after operation. Do not leave remote control unit
plugged into winch while not operating.
Permanent Mounting of Winch
1. Select a mounting site on your vehicle bumper, trailer, winch stand or other suitable site that will withstand the 2000 lbs.
pulling force created by the winch.
2. Place winch in desired location and mark the locations of the 4 holes that will be used for mounting.
3. Use only hardened steel bolts with a minimum diameter of 3/8” and a maximum diameter of ½”to secure winch.
4. Center punch and drill the 4 holes using a drill bit slightly larger than the diameter of bolt selected for mounting.
5. Install winch in desired location using 4 bolts, flat washers, lock washers and nuts.
If installing winch on a boat trailer be sure the winch is mounted slightly higher than bow stop on trailer
and far enough back from the bow stop that the cable hook will not be drawn into the housing when boat is loaded onto trailer.
Temporary Mounting on Hitch Ball
1. Slide the pins of the hitch ball mounting plate into the keyhole slots on the bottom of the winch.
2. Place the largest part of the hole on the hitch ball mounting plate over the hitch ball and slide the narrowest part of the
hole onto the neck of the hitch ball.
3. The winch may need to be supported until the cable is attached to the object being pulled and enough tension is applied to
the cable to keep the connections taught.
Operation of the Winch
1. If winch is mounted to vehicle, apply parking brake and block the wheels from rolling with suitable chocks. Put vehicle in
neutral to avoid damaging the transmission.
2. Turn clutch knob clockwise to disengage clutch.
3. Use gloves if holding the hook or cable by hand. Pull out required amount of cable making sure a minimum of 3 turns of
cable are left on the cable drum.
4. Hook onto pulling point, tow strap or chain. Do not wrap cable around object and hook onto itself.
5. When ready to pull, turn clutch knob counter clockwise to engage clutch.
6. Check to ensure all unnecessary bystanders are at a safe distance and are aware that you are about to pull.
7. Plug remote control unit into appropriate socket. Stand well clear of cable with an unobstructed view and path to the
operation. Slowly begin to wind the cable by pressing the button on the remote control unit. Stop once there is no slack in
the cable. Remove the remote control and check all connections.
8. If all connections are secure and the area is still clear, connect remote control and resume slowly and evenly pulling object.
You may want to have your vehicle’s engine running while operating the winch to ensure the battery is not drawn down.
9. When pulling is completed properly secure winched object.
10. After securing load release the tension on the cable. Disconnect remote control. Disconnect winch cable and hook from
pulling point.
11. To respool the winch cable, connect the remote control and respool while maintaining a slight load on the cable to ensure
the cable is wound tightly and evenly around the drum. Use gloves if holding the hook or cable by hand.
