GENERAL Description

Alarm output connection - DB9 female connector -
The Chemglass Life Science's factory installed Motion Alarm option monitors the physical rotation of the stirrer
mechanism. When the circuit does not detect motion within the preset time period, the alarm condition is activat-
ed. The alarm output activates the audible alarm, and the isolated relay contacts are switched. Normally closed
and normally open contacts are wired to a 9 pin sub D connector at the rear of the chassis. The contacts are wired
for fail safe operation.
Unit running:
Pin #1= common
Pin #2= CLOSED contact
Pin #5= OPEN contact
Unit in Alarm state:
Pin #1= common
Pin #2= OPEN contact
Pin #5= CLOSED contact

1. Connect one end of a 9-pin serial communications cable to the “COMM.” receptacle located on the rear panel of
the magnetic stirrer. (See pin configuration under SPECIFICATIONS).
2. Connect the other end to a suitable alarm system, i.e. house alarm, computer system, or other system.

OPERATION
The alarm circuit is automatically started when the main power switch is turned on. The alarm circuit operates at
any RPM setting between 25 - 400.
The “ALARM RESET” push button is located on the rear panel – see figure 1. When the alarm has been activated,
pressing this button will silence the audible alarm and switch the alarm output relay. The alarm circuit remains off
until the unit is powered OFF then ON, or pulses are once again received by the internal sensor.
Replacement Parts
P/N: ELE-045-020 Description: Main drive belt for all magnetic stirrers
from 08/15/14 to 3/21/17.
P/N: ELE-045-023 Description: Main drive belt for all magnetic stirrers
as of 03/22/17.
TROUBLESHOOTING
An alarm condition could represent a malfunction in the motor
circuit, power supply, or more likely, a broken or slipping belt.
Verify main drive belt. See Figure 2 (Inside Magnetic Stirrer)

Warranty
Chemglass, Inc. guarantees this unit against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from
the date of sale. If the unit should malfunction, it must be returned for evaluation. If the unit is determined to
have a defect in materials or workmanship, then it will be repaired or replaced at no charge. Tampering with
the unit or damage resulting from excessive current, heat, moisture, vibration, corrosive materials, or misuse
will void this warranty. Programming changes or reconfigurations are not covered under warranty.
Return Authorization:
CGLS must authorize any return of product. Please contact a customer service representative via the correspondence listed
below to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. The purchaser is responsible for all packing and ship-
ping to CGLS. If the equipment or material came in contact or was proximate to any biological organism, toxic or corrosive
material, or any agent reasonably deemed to be potentially harmful, it must be cleaned and decontaminated prior to receipt
by CGLS. The purchaser is obligated to disclose fully in writing, the cleaning and decontamination method. We reserve
the right not to accept any unauthorized or potentially harmful shipment.
