*This Hoist has a 25% duty cycle. This means that the hoist may only be run up to 2
minutes 30 seconds at a time and then it must be allowed to rest for at least 7 minutes
30 seconds before further use.

You will need the manual for the safety warnings and precautions, assembly instruc-
tions, operating and maintenance procedures, parts list and diagram. Keep your invoice
with this manual. Write the invoice number on the inside of the front cover. Keep the
manual and invoice in a safe and dry place for future reference.
SAFETY WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: When using tool, basic safety precautions should always be fol-
lowed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment.
Read all instructions before using this tool!
Keep work area clean1. . Cluttered areas invite injuries.
Observe work area conditions2. . Do not use machines or power tools in damp or wet
locations. Don’t expose to rain. Keep work area well lighted. Do not use electrically
powered tools in the presence of ammable gases or liquids.
Keep children away3. . Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not let
them handle machines, tools, or extension cords.
Store idle equipment4. . When not in use, tools must be stored in a dry location to
inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of reach of children.
Use the right tool for the job.5. Do not attempt to force a small tool or attachment to
do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applications for which this
tool was designed. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was
intended. Do not modify this tool and do not use this tool for a purpose for which it
was not intended.
Dress properly6. . Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry as they can be caught in mov-
ing parts. Protective, electrically non-conductive clothes and non-skid footwear are
recommended when working. Wear restrictive hair covering to contain long hair.

Use eye and ear protection7. . Always wear ANSI approved impact safety goggles.
Wear a full face shield if you are producing metal lings or wood chips. Wear an ANSI
approved dust mask or respirator when working around metal, wood, and chemical
dusts and mists.
Do not overreach8. . Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not reach over or
across running machines.
Maintain tools with care9. . Keep tools clean and moving parts lubricated for better
and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
Inspect tool cords periodically and, if damaged, have them repaired by an authorized
technician. The handles must be kept clean, dry, and free from oil and grease at all
times.
Disconnect power10. . Unplug tool when not in use.
Remove adjusting keys and wrenches11. . Check that keys and adjusting wrenches are
removed from the tool or machine work surface before plugging it in.
Avoid unintentional operation12. . Be sure hands are off power switch when not in use
and before plugging in.
Stay alert13. . Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any tool
when you are tired.
Check for damaged parts14. . Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged
should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its
intended function. Check for alignment and binding of moving parts; any broken parts
or mounting xtures; and any other condition that may affect proper operation. Any
part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualied technician.
Do not use the tool if the power switch does not work properly.
Guard against electric shock15. . Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces such as
pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerator enclosures.
Replacement parts and accessories16. . When servicing, use only identical replace-
ment parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty.
Do not operate product if under the inuence of alcohol or drugs17. . Read warn-
ing labels if taking prescription medicine to determine if your judgment or reexes are
impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the product.
Use proper size and type extension cord18. . If an extension cord is required, it must
be of the proper size and type to supply the correct current to the tool without heat-
ing up. Otherwise, the extension cord could melt and catch re, or cause electrical
damage to the tool. If you are using the tool outdoors, use an extension cord rated for
outdoor use (signied by “WA” on the jacket).
Maintenance19. . For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed regu-
larly by a qualied technician.
Do not use for aircraft purposes.20.
Note: Performance of this tool (if powered by line voltage) may vary depending on varia-
tions in local line voltage. Extension cord usage may also affect tool performance.

Special Warnings for This Tool
Inspect Cable thoroughly before use.1. Be sure Cable is attached properly and in
good condition. Do not use this tool if the Cable is frayed, kinked, or wrapped improp-
erly around the reel. Do not replace the Cable with another Cable of lesser strength.
Always leave at least three turns of Cable on the spool to insure that the Cable is able
to lift to the stated weight capacity.
Inspect the Power Supply before use.2. Be sure the Power Cord and Control Handle
are in good condition before use. Avoid using this tool in damp or wet locations, or
exposing the components of this tool to moisture.
Route the Power Cord away from other tools and equipment.3. Take care to prevent
damage to the Power Cord and the Control Handle Cord. If either become damaged,
have them repaired or replaced by a qualied technician before using this tool.
Stand back.4. Stay out of the direct line that the Cable is pulling. If it slips or breaks, it
will “whiplash” along this line. Never stand underneath a weight that is being lifted.
Do not hold the Cable while using the tool.5. Your hand could get caught in moving
parts.
Do not operate this tool alone.6. Use a spotter to help you see when it is safe to oper-
ate the tool.
Observe stated power limits.7. Do not attempt to lift more than 650 lb. when using a
single cable, or 1300 lb. when using a double cable.
Exercise caution when mounting this tool.8. This tool must be mounted to a jib boom
only. Mounting surface must be able to support the weight of this tool and the work
piece being lifted. Use the appropriate hardware when mounting tool.
People with pacemakers should consult their physician(s) before use. Electromag-9.
netic elds in close proximity to heart pacemaker could cause pacemaker interference
or pacemaker failure.
Warning: The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction10.
manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It
must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors
which cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure all parts listed on Page 7 are included. If any
parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number on the cover of
this manual.

MOUNTING THE HOIST
This tool requires no assembly besides mounting it to a jib boom capable of sup-
porting the weight of the tool and any project pieces you will be lifting.
All parts named and listed refer to those in the Assembly Diagrams and Parts List
on Pages 7 and 8.
Place the two Mounting Brackets [2] over the jib boom in the location you intend to1.
mount the Hoist.
Have an assistant hold the Hoist in place and attach the Brackets to the Fixing Rack2.
[1] using the Hex Head Bolts [4], Lock Washers [5] and Nuts [6] supplied.
Once the Hoist is in the nal position, tighten Nuts rmly.3.
OPERATION
You must turn the Hoist on in order to pull out or wind up the Cable.1.
To operate the Power Switch, [76], press the upper part of the button on the Switch to2.
reel in the Cable. Press the lower part to release Cable.
Position the item you wish to lift, underneath the Hoist. Check to be sure conditions3.
are safe to lift the item.
Grasp the Lift Hook [15] and pull it away from the Hoist while pressing on the lower4.
part of the button on the Power Switch. Pull the Hook away from the Hoist as you do
so. Always leave at least three turns of Cable on the spool to insure that the Cable is
able to lift to the stated weight capacity.
Attach the Hook to the item. Never wrap the Cable around an item and hook the Cable5.
onto itself. This can cause damage to the item you are lifting, as well as the Cable.
Stand clear. When it is safe to do so, use the Power Switch to retract the Cable into6.
the machine, and lift the item.
As you lift the item, be sure the Cable winds properly onto the spool. Cable should not7.
cross over itself when it is on the spool.
If you are unable to lift a load, do not continue to operate the Power Switch. This can8.
result in damage to the motor and possibly break the Cable.

MAINTENANCE
Lubricate the Cable occasionally with a light oil. Check regularly that it is in good1.
condition.
Check to be sure that the Hoist is mounted properly to the jib boom. Make sure all2.
hardware is tight.
Periodically check the condition of electrical cords, plugs and controls.3.

Harbor Freight Tools Co. makes every effort to assure that its products meet high
quality and durability standards, and warrants to the original purchaser that this product
is free from defects in materials and workmanship for the period of 90 days from the date
of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage due directly or indirectly, to misuse,
abuse, negligence or accidents, repairs or alterations outside our facilities, criminal activity,
improper installation, normal wear and tear, or to lack of maintenance. We shall in no event
be liable for death, injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special
or consequential damages arising from the use of our product. Some states do not allow
the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation
of exclusion may not apply to you. THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS.
To take advantage of this warranty, the product or part must be returned to us with
transportation charges prepaid. Proof of purchase date and an explanation of the com-
plaint must accompany the merchandise. If our inspection veries the defect, we will either
repair or replace the product at our election or we may elect to refund the purchase price
if we cannot readily and quickly provide you with a replacement. We will return repaired
products at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the defect resulted
from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost of returning
the product.
This warranty gives you specic legal rights and you may also have other rights
which vary from state to state.
