WARNING!
READ, UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND
WARNINGS BEFORE OPERATING THIS TOOL. FAILURE TO DO SO
MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE AND
WILL VOID WARRANTY.
Some dust created by power sanding contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive
harm. An example of this type of chemical is lead from lead based paints. Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you
do this type of work. To reduce your exposure: work in a well ventilated area and work with approved safety equipment, such as dusk masks
that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING:
This is a lifting device only. Load must be supported immediately.
Do not overload chain hoist beyond rated capacity. Overloading can cause damage to or failure
of the hoist.
WARNING!
READ, UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND
WARNINGS BEFORE OPERATING THIS TOOL. FAILURE TO DO
SO MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY
DAMAGE AND WILL VOID WARRANTY.
Your Performance Tool chain hoist was constructed with quality materials and workmanship and
will give you many years of trouble free use when cared for as described in the "Care &
Maintenance" section on page 2. However, as with any mechanical device, periodic adjustments
are necessary to maintain a peak level of performance.
OPERATION
Before using your chain hoist, determine the approximate weight of the load to be lifted.
Be sure the load does not exceed the rated capacity of the chain block. NEVER
OVERLOAD THE CHAIN HOIST.
Check the parts of the chain hoist before each application. Inspect the hooks, load chain,
braking device, and other critical parts including the lubrication of the block.
All hooks must be securely attached to the chain hoist before using the equipment. Make sure
the load being lifted is not suspended from the tip of the hook, and the hook is not tilted. The
load chain should remain vertical without any twist in the chain to prevent tangling.
When lifting, the operator should stand in the plane of the hand wheel. Pull the hand chain, in
smooth and steady fashion, to rotate the hand wheel clockwise raising the load. Pulling the
hand chain in a counterclockwise direction will cause the hand wheel to separate from the
brake seat which will release the ratchet disc and gently lower the load.
To prevent tangling the chain and rotating the block, DO NOT pull the hand chain in a
direction diagonal to the hand wheel.
NEVER pass or work beneath a lifted load.
If the hand chain binds, STOP IMMEDIATELY.
Making sure that nothing is entangled with the load, inspect the chain hoist parts and
make sure the load is within the rated capacity.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Clean the chain hoist after each use. When hoist is not in use, store in a dry environment
to prevent corrosion and rusting.
2. Once a year, clean all the chains and hoist parts with kerosene. Lubricate the gears and
bearings with grease.
3. Align the “O” marks of the gears while assembling.
4. Previous to fitting the chain sprocket rollers into the outer race of the bearing on the
side plate, the rollers may be attached with grease to the journal of the chain sprocket.
5. Extra care must be taken when reassembling the brake mechanism. Align the diagonal
teeth of the ratchet disc and the pawl. Inspect the pawl to be sure that the springs are in
good, working condition. Turn the hand wheel clockwise after twisting it onto the driving
shaft, it must press the discs and plates onto the brake seat. When rotating
counterclockwise there should be clearance between the disc and the plates.
6. Do not dismantle the right side plate and stay.
7.
Subject the block to a no-load test and a heavy load test after maintenance is complete.
The chain hoist may be returned to operational status after being found in good condition.
8.
Inspect the braking mechanism regularly, and keep all friction surfaces clean and well lubricated.
Regularly check for loose, worn or damaged parts. Any hoist that appears damaged
in any way must be removed from service.
