Upgrading to TPC Software v2.6 or Higher
ANY TPC or ANY DCP or CP SERIES PROJECTOR
Introduction
These instructions explain how to upgrade Touch Panel Controller software to v2.6 (or higher) via FTP. You
will use FTP to transfer new software files from your PC to the TPC currently connected to your DCP or CP
Series projector.
Requirements
•TPC-642 or TPC-60 or TPC-66 used with any DCP or CP Series projector
•Windows ™ 2000 or XP running on a laptop or PC.
•TPCSuite**.zip package extracted to PC (This .zip is available from Christie’s FTP site.)
•FTP application such as FFFTP or WS_FTP, or as provided in Windows™XP or Internet Explorer.
Before You Begin
How To Identify Your TPC Model
The TPC install program will auto-detect the type of TPC present and will automatically install the proper
software package. However, if you know which TPC model you have, you can save downloading time by
choosing only the relevant files:
•TPC-642 is the original style blue controller in a blue metal housing.
•TPC-60/TPC-66 is a dark brown/gray controller in a black molded case (new Apr. 2006)
•Alternatively, query the TPC with an SST serial command:

Check Your New “C:\Tpcsuite26\Install” Contents
Unzip Christie’s TPCSuite**.zip package to a desired location on your local drive. The following files will be
stored under the “\INSTALL\” directory at that desired location:
•TpcInstaller.exe= TPC installer (Note: This file should always be used unless performing a Scratch Install.)
•INSTALL.LNK= factory install (Note: Shortcut for a factory default installation - will overwrite IP settings
with factory default scheme 192.168.206.110)
•TPC642.IST= installation file for TPC-642 model
•FONT642.IST= Chinese and Japanese character font for TPC-642
•TPC60.IST= installation file for TPC-60/TPC-66 models (with fonts)
Upgrade Procedure
FFFTP is a freeware FTP client application recommended for communicating with the TPC via file transfer
protocol (Note: FFFTP is the only supported FTP software.). When installed and configured on a PC, the PC
and TPC can transfer files back-and-forth via FTP—PC files appear in the left window, TPC files appear on
the right. For this upgrade to take effect, you will be required to replace the “INSTALL” directory located on
the TPC at “/Storage Card/INSTALL” (Right Window) with the “INSTALL” directory extracted from TPC
Suite (Left Window).
Configuring The Ftp Connection:
1. Run FFFTP. At the main window, click the Connect icon or File Connect menu. The Host List box
should appear:

2. From the Host List of FTP servers, click the TPC FTP server and Connect. Or, if using FFFTP for the
first time, click New Host to create a new connection to the FTP Server. The Host Setting box should
now appear Æ.
3. Complete the Host Setting entries:
•Profile Name (name desired for TPC)
•Host name/Address (TPC IP default address is 192.168.206.110—use the unique and valid address
defined for your site)
•Username ( TPC user name)
•Password (TPC user password)
Keep other settings as default. Click OK, going back to the Host List window.
4. Under the “Advanced” tab, make sure to Uncheck the selection to “Use PASV mode”.

5. In the Host List window (refer back to the top of page 2), click your desired site, and then click Connect
to connect to the TPC FTP server. Both devices should now appear in the FTP windows:
6. BACKUP ALL 5 .DAT FILES: Before upgrading, it is recommended that you backup the following
projector data files. As shown, these are all stored in the IPSM directory on the TPC —use FTP to
transfer them to your PC.

7. UPGRADING: Open the /Storage Card folder on the TPC. On PC side, click the INSTALL folder, then
click Upload to upload to your TPC. If cued to overwrite, select “DO ALL”:
8. After downloading, open the /Storage Card/INSTALL folder and make sure all uploaded files appear on
the TPC side. See below:

9. Run the TPCInstaller.exe program remotely in order to update to the newly uploaded configuration—on
the TPC side, highlight any file (otherwise the Specify command will be disabled). Then click the
Commands ÆSpecify command menu option:
10. In the Specify Command dialog box, enter the following command (note: you MUST use quotation
marks): XFTP RUN “\Storage Card\Install\TpcInstaller.exe”

NOTE: Alternatively, if your FTP application does not offer this remote feature for remote
communication, you can:
a. Leave the TPC application by selecting the “STOP” icon on the TPC’s About menu (this requires
a service login).
b. Then navigate to the TPC’s Install directory.
c. Select the TPCInstaller.exe icon.
11. Click OK to start the installation on your TPC. The Install.log file will also be created in the same
directory—consult as desired for status and diagnostics.
12. Wait 5 min following the termination of the remote access upgrade of “TPCInstaller.exe”. This will
ensure that the upgrade is complete. Complete the following to verify that the upgrade has been
successful:
•Remote Verification-Reconnect to the TPC using a remote connection and a Serial Command Utility
(NetTerminal). Send the “(SST? 4 0)” Command using the Serial Command Utility.
•Local Verification-Navigate to the About tab to verify that the software upgrade was successful.
13. If necessary, restore the backups.dat files from your PC to the \IPSM directory on the TPC. This should
only be required if your TPC configuration is lost.

14. NEW LAMP SETTINGS: Note that TPC software v2.4d or higher provides new increased current limits
for all lamps:

Note 1: All current ranges shown here include “over-drive”, which is 10% more than the original
lamp rating.
Note 2: Other CP models are compatible with all 4 lamps. 3) “Old” = v2.4c or older. “New” =
v2.4d or higher.
Because of these expanded ranges, previous user-defined Lamp Power settings (such as a Lamp Power
setting saved with a particular channel) will produce less light than in v2.4c or older. Therefore, if you
have upgraded from v2.4c (or older), you must define new Lamp Power values to regain the desired
performance:
•Recalibrate Foot Lamberts: Re-do this calibration to provide accurate foot lambert interpolations.
Refer to the projector’s User’s Manual for instructions.
•Redefine Lamp Power Settings: Redefine any Lamp Power settings for use with specific channels.
Refer to the projector’s User’s Manual for instructions.
Troubleshooting:
•If FFFTP fails to download files properly, reconnect the TPCServer (refer back to page 2), and try again.
•If FFFTP still fails to download files properly, re-boot the TPC by disconnecting then re-connecting it.
•If FFFTP still fails to download files properly, try the WS_FTP or similar program.
