Introduction
Cisco Unified Communications 320 with wireless (UC320W) delivers IP based
telephony voice services for small businesses looking to improve communications
with fellow employees, suppliers and customers. As a part of the Cisco Small
Business product family, this easy to use solution delivers sophisticated features to
better connect employees, allow employees to work from anywhere, and serve
customers better all on a secure Cisco network.
The UC320W is a Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) IP based solution, which can be
deployed in new locations or replace aging voice solutions for up to 25 phones. As
each small business is unique, a telephony solution has to be able to handle different
deployment types to match how the business operates. With the Unified
Communications 320, the Small Business customer has a wide range of different
phone types and deployment modes to meet their needs.
Using the Cisco SPA 500 Series IP Phones with intelligent softkeys provide users
with easy to access to powerful calling features normally found in much more
expensive solutions.
This Configuration Guide for Cbeyond shows how to configure a UC320W for basic
connectivity and functions with Cbeyond’s SIPconnect service. It is not intended to
be a comprehensive guide to UC320W operations nor an exhaustive recipe for
configuring all the UC320W functions that a relevant to particular customers. The
intention is to help the installation technician to enable basic SIP connectivity
between the UC320W and Cbeyond’s voice infrastructure so that calls can be placed
successfully.
For more detailed instructions on other aspects of UC320W configuration the reader
should refer to the UC320W documentation that may be found on Cisco.com. The
online help system of the UC320W should also be consulted.1

Connecting to the UC320W and Getting Started
Logging In
Connect a PC to the UC320W with an Ethernet cable in one of the 4 ports provided
on the back of the unit. Verify that the management PC obtains an IP address in the
192.168.10.x/24 subnet, then open a browser session to the UC320W with the URL
http://192.168.10.1.
Log in with the username “cisco” and the password “cisco”.

First Login
The first time the administrator logs into the UC320W, a dialog is displayed that
prompts the administrator to change the “cisco” login ID and its password. For
security purposes, neither “cisco” nor “admin” may be used in either the ID or
password fields:

Software Updates May be Available
If software updates are available, a dialog will prompt the administrator to
download the new versions and to install them.
Alternatively, “Install Later” may be chosen.

Getting Started
The next screen of the configuration tool displays a sort of “main menu” for the
initial configuration goals:

The Introductory Video
The UC320W Configuration Utility begins by offering the administrator the
opportunity to view a tutorial video. The administrator simply clicks the “play”
button displayed in the middle of the Welcome window. Alternatively the
administrator may launch the UC320W Configuration Wizard by clicking “Skip” in
the upper right of the window.

Choose Your Network Topology
After the Introductory video and prior to beginning the detailed configuration tasks,
the configuration tool addresses the minimum network configuration that is
required to perform the installation. The configuration tool displays a screen that
allows the administrator a choice between three basic setup options for the role that
UC320W will play in the customer’s network. Cbeyond’s customer will typically
select between “UC320W Router Voice and Data” or “UC320W Routes Voice and
Data with external DHCP server”. The differences between the options include the
location of the DHCP server providing IP addressing services to devices connected
to the UC320W. When an option is selected, an “Apply Now” button will appear.
The main goal of this initial network configuration is to provide IP addresses, with
DHCP, to the devices that will connect to the UC320W but without causing conflicts
with existing DHCP servers. More detailed network configuration will be done later
in the configuration process:
Note that the selection shown above is ONLY AN EXAMPLE, as are all the
screenshots in this configuration guide. The installer must select the options
appropriate to the particular customer’s needs.

Warning
When the Apply Now button for the network topology option is selected, a warning
dialing will appear. Note the warning and continue by pressing the “OK” button:

Upgrade Firmware
The next task in the configuration process is to update system software, if this was
not done already. The installer may skip this task and proceed by clicking “Skip”.
Note that updating the software at some later time may require additional
configuration at that time in order to use features added in the new release:

Connect all the Devices
The next menu option is displayed and should be selected:

Connect All Devices
UC320W begins a discovery of the connected devices and will show the results in
the next screen. When all devices have been found the administrator should click
“All Devices Connected” to continue.
Note that if not all devices are connected at this point, or if the UC320W does not
discover a device that is connected, they can be added later on in the configuration
process.:

Begin Configuration
With the devices connected and recognized by the UC320W, the initial “pre-
requisite” setup is complete and the configuration wizard will begin. Pressing
“Begin Configuration:” will launch the wizard:

The first section of the configuration wizard greets the administrator and sets up
some global system characteristics.

Regional Settings
The regional settings window allows localization of services to country, the
selection of a 7- or 10-digit dial plan, and the system’s timezone. The administrator
should make changes as required and then advance to the next screen with the Next
button.

System Access
The System Access window offers the opportunity to change the UC320W
administrator’s password, enable remote management through the WAN interface,
and to enable management through the wireless interface. These should be enabled
as required.

Automatic Backup
UC320W has an automatic configuration backup utility that writes to a USB key
inserted into either of the USB ports. The time of day and frequency of the backup
can be specified. Establishing a regular backup to capture the configuration and any
changes is strongly recommended.
