ClearsSounds® A55 2. Your cordless handset is preset with

Amplified Cordless Telephone
QUICK OPERATING GUIDE
This Quick Operating Guide will help you get
started with your new ClearSounds A55. For
additional installation options and complete
instructions which allow you to use all
features of this phone, refer to your
Installation Guide and User Manual
NOTE: If both the handset and base ringers
are set to OFF, the visual ringer will flash to
indicate there is an incoming call.
Using the Vibration Setting on the Handset
and Base. The vibration call alert feature
notifies you of incoming calls by making the
handset and/or optional shaker vibrate.

INSTALLATION 1. To turn ON the handset vibrate mode,
select the TOP position on the
SHAKING switch located below the
“AMPLIFY” button (see page 4-5 in
manual).
Setting Up the Base Unit
1. Install the telephone line cord.
2. Install the AC adapter. USE ONLY with
the ClearSounds AC Adapter provided.
3. Place the handset in the base after
following the Battery Installation
directions.
2. To use the optional Shaker for the
base, connect the Shaker into the
socket located on the side of the base.
(see page 4-5 in manual).
Battery Installation 3. Place the Shaker where you can feel it
under a mattress or seat cushion of a
chair.
Before using the telephone, charge the
batteries for 24 hours.
1. Slide the battery compartment open.
2. Insert three new AAA Ni-MH
rechargeable batteries
(provided) following the polarity
marking in the battery compartment.

NOTE: The shaker is an optional device
(sold separately).
PROGRAMMING PHONE BOOK
For frequently dialed numbers:
1. Begin by entering a phone number as
you would dial it.
3. Replace the battery cover.
4. Place the handset on the base. The
unit beeps once and the battery charge
indicator lights up.
2. Press the “MEMO” button once and
then the LCD will show NAME.
3. Enter the name using the
corresponding letters on the keypad.
i.e.: Press the 2 key once for A, twice
for B and 3 times for C. Use the 1 key
to insert a space between the name.
IMPORTANT! Only use AAA NiMH
rechargeable batteries. DO NOT USE
REGUALR ALKALINE OR CARBON
BATTERIES. 4. Press the “MEMO” button to confirm
and a confirmation beep will sound.
RINGER VOLUME & STYLE
Adjust the Ringer TELEPHONE OPERATION
1. Begin by selecting the setting for the
ringer: OFF, LO, MED, HI (the middle
4-position switch located on the bottom
of the base).
Make A Call
1. Press the “TALK” button.
2. Dial the number or select one of the
phonebook entries.

3. To end the call, press the “TALK”
button to hang up.
Answer A Call
1. Press the “TALK” button to answer.
2. To end the call, press the “TALK”
button to hang up.
NOTE: Picking up the handset
from its base will not
automatically answer the call.
AMPLIFICATION
1. While connected, press the
“AMPLIFY” button.
2. If necessary, slide the VOLUME &
TONE to best suit your hearing.
3. The amplifier will turn off when you
hang up.
4. For the auto-amplify / volume reset
override feature see pages 8-9 in the
manual.
CALLER ID
In order to utilize the Caller ID feature, you
must subscribe to Caller ID service through
your local phone company.
To Review Call History
1. Press the arrow UP or DOWN button
once to display the total number of
Caller ID numbers.
2. Use the arrow UP or DOWN button to
scroll through the caller list.
1. After 30 seconds, it will go back to
standby.
To Remove A Specific Call Record
1. Press the arrow UP or DOWN button
once to display the total number of
Caller ID numbers.
2. Use the arrow UP or DOWN button to
scroll through the caller list to select
the Caller ID number to be deleted.
3. Press the “F” button twice to delete the
single Caller ID number.
To Remove All Call Records
1. Press the arrow UP or DOWN button
once to display the total number of
Caller ID numbers.
2. Press the “F” button twice to delete all
of the Caller ID numbers.
DIALING FROM THE CALLER ID
1. During the reviewing Call History,
press the “TALK” (handset) button
when dialing within the same area
code.
2. When dialing outside your area code,
press the “1” key to dial the number
showed on the LCD display.
