YOUR SAFETY
www.coastercycles.com p. 14
www.coastercycles.com p. 15
Though there are multiple safety features built into your Coaster ECT, taking an
active role in your safety and others around you is crucial when you ride. Read all
safety instructions and other manufacturer’s instructions before use.
GIVE IT A GO
We recommend a test ride before getting
on the road. Refer to the “Start Your Ride”
guide (See page 16) before heading out.
Get to know the uses and limitations for
a smooth and trouble-free operation.
All Coaster ECT models are heavier and
faster than regular bicycles. Beginning
without eAssist and then moving
through the eAsssit modes will help you
understand and become familiar with the
power assistance. Give yourself enough
time to stop and negotiate trac when
learning to ride.
THINK SAFETY
We understand bike riding is fun! We also
want your ride and delivery experience to
be fun too. However, keep in mind that
your Coaster ECT model is much heavier
and less responsive than a regular bike.
There is no shortcut to familiarize yourself
with the Coaster ECT ride experience.
Avoid the following:
- Fast Maneuvers
- Jumping
- Stunts
- Rough Roads or O-Road
- Any maneuver that adds severe stress to
the chassis or components.
VISIBILITY
Headlight, brake lights, turn signals, and reective decals are
standard visibility features. Using your lights day and night
helps provide better visibility for yourself and to others.
Utilizing hand signals is encouraged in conjunction with your
turn signals but is a must in models without them.
!WARNING!
Keep your reectors and lights clean, adjusted, and
adequately fastened to your Coaster ECT. Wear bright,
reective clothing when riding in poor light conditions in
order to improve your visibility.
!WARNING!
Damage to the battery or short circuit in the electrical
system could lead to the battery overheating or
potentially catching re. Read all Bosch user manuals for
proper storage, maintenance, and usage.
PROTECT
Helmets are essential to protect you while
riding. Always wear a helmet that meets
safety standards and regulations. Read
helmet instructions for proper t and care.
FULLY CHARGED
The Coaster ECT’s use a lithium-ion battery for an ecient
power system and long life. Be sure the battery is fully charged
and placed on the Coaster ECT securely. Having enough power
throughout the day ensures the e-motor lasts throughout the
day. Maintain the Bosch battery as instructed by the Bosch
user manual.
An additional 12 volt auxiliary battery on the Coaster AW
models powers the alarm system and lights. Charge this extra
battery nightly. This battery must be fully charged and installed
before start-up.
MAINTENANCE
Keeping your Coaster ECT well maintained ensures
all moving parts and pieces stay in good working
order. A daily check veries it is ready for use. If
your Coaster ECT is part of a eet, creating a daily
checklist for your rider is helpful to keep things
running smoothly.
Cleaning your bike of dirt and debris keeps the
powder coating pristine. Wipe all lights and high
visibility reectors with a soft cloth. Do not use
any cleaning products. Mild soap and water will
do the trick.
This manual provides general maintenance
information for various components of the Coaster
ECT models. Refer to specic manufacturer’s repair
manual for detailed repairs and maintenance.
REPAIRS
There is no replacement for daily maintenance
and cleaning your Coaster ECT. Regular tune-
ups and repairs will be a necessity when you are
making daily trips and deliveries. We recommend
a certied Coaster Repair Technician for replacing
parts or repairs.
!WARNING!
Improper repairs or adjustments may
damage your Coaster ECT, but even worse, it
could cause an accident, injury, or death.

When arming
the anti-theft
system, lights
and controls,
always use the
blue keyfob to
operate.
www.coastercycles.com p. 16
www.coastercycles.com p. 17
START YOUR RIDE
1. 360ºINSPECTION
Startwith a 360º visual inspection of the Coaster
ECT and its surroundings before each ride to
ensure safe and smooth operation. Check for
any obstructions in the path of the tires and
chassis. Make sure all doors are securely closed.
Check tires for proper ination (See page 27).
Inspect and manipulate the wheels to ensure
they are secure, with noe lateral movement.
3. INSTALL BATTERY
Verify the battery is secure and fully charged
before riding.
For models with secondary lighting, be sure
the auxiliary battery is charged and installed
properly.
2. ADJUST
Adjust your saddle height with the quick release
located on the seat post collar.
Standing next to the bike, start with the seat
at hip height and adjust based on preference.
Mount the Coaster ECT and verify the setup suits
your riding position. Never extend the seat post
past the minimum insertion line.
If your Coaster model (Parcel AW & Freighter AW)
comes equipped with mirrors, make adjustments
to maximize sightlines and reduce blind spots.
4. POWER
Power on the lighting and electrical system by
passing the blue Radio-Frequency Identication
(RFID) keyfob over the receiver located in the
upper right-hand corner of the rider cockpit.
Verify that all lights and displays are working.
Coaster AW Models: Always swipe the blue
keyfob before any movement or ride. The alarm
WILL sound if not rst disarmed with the keyfob.
Note: The Venture and Freighter do not need the
RFID key for start up operation.
5. RIDING MODE
Turn on the power to the Controller by pressing
the power button. Adjust controls while in a
stable position.
Use the “+” and “-” keys to select riding mode.
See page 25 for detailed instructions.
6. BRAKE & WHEEL RELEASE
Release the front parking brake by compressing
the brake lever and turning the lock clockwise.
Release the rear parking brake by compressing
the brake lever until the brake lock disengages
Ensure that the front frame lock is disengaged
using the appropriate key.
8. GET MOVING
Sit on the saddle with both hands on the
handlebars and both feet on the pedals. Change
the controller to the eAssist mode you would
like to use, and you are ready to start pedaling.
Use your signals (hands and/or lights) to pull
into the bike lane or roadway. Lastly, enjoy
your day!
Use the Troubleshooting Guide on
page 32-33 for help with starting your
Coaster ECT.
7. SHIFTING
At any time, the eShift can be used for less or
more assistance. This is helpful depending on
the load and terrain. Especially with heavier
loads, stop pedaling when you shift to lessen
torque on the drive unit.
For models with automatic shifting, preferred
cadence can be adjusted through the onboard
computer.
FINISH YOUR RIDE
1. PARKING
Find a secure place to park your Coaster ECT
out of pedestrian and vehicle traffic. When
possible, reverse park for safe maneuvering
and exiting for your next ride.
5. POWER DOWN
If you are not able to park your Coaster ECT in a
secure area, the Parcel and Freighter AW models
have a 12 volt auxiliary battery that operated
an anti-theft system. This battery should be
charged daily but could be used overnight to
keep the anti-theft armed. Always verify this
battery is charged before starting the next day.
2. BRAKING
Engage both parking brakes and frame lock:
1. Compress the front brake and turn the lock
counterclockwise.
2. Compress the rear brake and engage the
parking lever.
3. Engage the frame lock around the front wheel.
See more information on the operation of all
brakes on page 26.
4. BATTERY CHARGE
Turn o the Bosch battery and remove it from
the battery holder. In a safe and well ventilated
area, plug it into the charger. You can leave the
battery connected to the bike if you are close
to a power source. See page 22 for charging
specics.
If your Coaster model has the 12 volt auxiliary
battery, take it out of the compartment and
charge nightly.
3. CARGO LOCK
Close and lock all cargo doors with the
designated key on the keyfob keyring.

We care about the safety of the drivers and the
security of the contents of the cargo. Locking
cargo doors ensure that your contents are
protected when you stop for a delivery.
Max cargo loads vary between Coaster models.
Verify the weights on the specication sheet
and strictly adhere to these recommendations.
Weight Distribution
When delivering or receiving packages, place
heavier parcels at the bottom and toward the
center of the Coaster cargo box.
Keep your weight centered over the frame at all
times. Avoid abrupt or forceful turns to keep loads
evenly distributed.
Speed
Slowing down before you reach a turn helps to
reduce the potential for your Coaster ECT to become
unbalanced and tip—practice riding with and
without a load to understand the maneuverability
and control. Using caution on any downhill, manage
acceleration and apply equal pressure to the front
and rear brakes to control speed.
Any high impact or force on your Coaster ECT and
its components could harm you or others or void
any applicable warranties.
Exercise extreme caution if you encounter obstacles,
wet or oily surfaces, gravel, grating, or any other
pathway hazard. Use caution when maneuvering
the Coaster ECT close to pedestrians and other
vehicles.
Braking
Always ride with both hands on the handlebars
for better control while braking. Smooth braking
and turning ensure any obstacle doesn’t cause an
incident or accident.
Do the majority of braking before entering a
turn. Since your Coaster ECT or load can become
unbalanced during a ride.
Always engage both front and rear brakes at the
same time to come to a stop or slow down before
entering a turn.
CANOPY
The AW Canopy is a weatherproof enclosure that helps
protect the rider. There is an integrated cockpit with a
cell phone holder, a USB charger, and a back up camera.
The Coaster AW Cover is an optional accessory for
completely waterproof storage. Visit
coastercycles.com/partsstore for more information.

DISC BRAKES
Your Coaster Electric Cargo Trike comes with hydraulic
disc brakes, making for an easy stop, especially with a
heavy load.
Before riding, verify which brake lever controls the front
and back brake. Apply both brakes at the same time with
equal pressure for smooth braking.
Pre-check your brakes are working before heading out on
the road. There should always feel like there is tension
when squeezing the levers.
KEEP THINGS ROLLING
Checking tires and wheels for damage can prevent
accidents or broken components while your
Coaster ECT is used. Look for tread wear on tires
and replace if worn, cracked, or not rolling smooth.
Wheel Trueness
If your wheels have a wobble or your brakes are rubbing, waste no time in getting your Coaster
ECT repaired. Having components checked by a certied Coaster Repair Technician will save time,
money, and potential damage.
Check rims and spokes for damage. Pitting, dents, etc., can interfere with a smooth rolling tire and
potentially interfere with the structure or disc brakes. Having components checked by a certied
Coaster Repair Technician will save time, money, and potential damage.
Wear
When you check for wear on your tires, you want to see the rubber and an even tread pattern. If
there is any uneven wear, have your wheels checked for trueness and spoke tension. Signicant or
uneven wear can be due to continued use with insucient tire pressure. Weather can also play a
part in tire wear, including long-term heat and UV exposure.

OWNER MAINTENANCE
Along with a daily walk around and keeping things
clean, there are a few steps that a Coaster owner
can do to ensure items are in good working order.
Battery
Having fully charged batteries keeps your Coaster
ECT performing all day. See page 22.
Tires
Examine tire tread for wear or foreign objects.
Check tire pressure daily. See page 27.
Lights
Clean all lights and signals with a damp cloth.
Verify they are all operating before riding. See
page 21.
Brakes
Verify brakes have good tension before every
ride. Check uid level monthly (reservoir located
on the right side of handlebars).
All maintenance recommendations in this manual are not detailed repair
instructions. General maintenance is a rider’s responsibility for their daily safety.
A qualied Coaster Repair Technician should do repairs and service on your
Coaster ECT.
MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
To eliminate potential hazards, follow the start-up
instructions in this manual or see our start-up
videos at coastercycles.com/explore to have an
understanding of how the Coaster ECT operates.
We recommend visiting a Coaster Repair
Technician regularly for proper maintenance
and repairs.
- Be prepared with the proper tools and
equipment to get the job done safely.
- Park the Coaster ECT on level ground and
engage the brakes and frame lock to prevent
any movement or rolling.
- Start with a 360º visual inspection of your
Coaster ECT.
- Wear eye protection and any other PPE required
for the equipment or materials you will be using.
- Turn o and remove the battery before starting
any maintenance.
- Keep open ames, sparks, and cigarettes away
from the Coaster ECT to reduce any possibility
of a re.
- If you suspect any damage beyond general
maintenance, visit your local Coaster Repair
Technician.
CLEANING
Keeping components clean is an excellent start
to any maintenance schedule.
Begin by turning o and removing the battery.
Use a damp, soft cloth and only mild soap and
water if required to clean dirt from the frame,
cargo box, and other components. Avoid soaking
or spraying water, especially on controls, drive
unit, or lubricated parts.
For specific instructions on how to clean the
Drive Unit, see manufactures instructions at
coastercylces.com/support.
STORAGE
For long-term storage, always
take your Bosch battery
and 12 volt battery off the
Coaster ECT and store them
separately. Store battery at
room temperature in a dry
and well-ventilated location.
It is ideal for keeping the
battery between 30% to 60%
charged (2-3 LED’s on the
battery indicator).
Your Coaster ECT should also
be stored in a dry and well-
ventilated area. Extreme high
or low temperatures (32 F (0
C) - 68 F (20 C) could damage
components, void warranties,
or cause potential risk to the
rider.
Dry all components and the
chassis, lubricate the chain,
and cover the Coaster ECT
to keep dirt and debris from
damaging any parts.
Storing under these conditions
will maximize the battery
charge and service life of your
delivery investment.
www.coastercycles.com p. 28
www.coastercycles.com p. 29
!WARNING!
Improper repairs or adjustments may
damage your Coaster ECT, but even worse,
it could cause an accident, injury, or death.
!CAUTION!
Keep water away from any lubricated or
electrical components.
MAINTENANCE
SPOKES
Check spoke tension once a
week for excessively loose
or rattling spokes which may
compromise the integrity of
the wheels and tires.
Riding with heavier loads can
lead to more wear and tear to
the chassis, wheels, and other
components.
CHAIN
Check the chain for dirt,
wear, and tension. Proper
lubrication of the chain will
keep things running smoothly
and increase the life of the
chain.
Use a specific bike chain
lubricant and apply it to each
pin as you move the pedals
backward to distribute evenly.
Wipe any access o the chain
and avoid getting any residue
on disc brakes or electrical
components.
When applying the lubrication,
hold a rag under the chain to
avoid drips on other parts.
TIRES
It is necessary to check and
maintain the tires on your
Coaster ECT for safe and
ecient riding.
As part of your daily 360º visual
inspection, always verify all
three tires have minimal wear,
are free from obstructions,
and are inated to the proper
pressure (See page 27).
!WARNING!
Incorrect chain tension
can cause increased
wear on other drive
components or cause
your Coaster ECT to
become unstable while
riding.
!CAUTION!
Do not spill lubricant
on disc brakes or any
electrical components.

We have put together a few techniques for troubleshooting specic
components to keep you riding along.
TROUBLESHOOT
START-UP
My Coaster ECT won’t start?
Places to start:
Check battery charge.
Check battery placement and be sure it is seated
and locked.
Read the Battery Troubleshooting guide on the
page 33, as well as the Bosch Battery user manual
if your battery is not charging correctly.
If the Coaster ECT still won’t start and you have an
anti-theft system (All Weather models), a 12 volt
battery is located in a compartment (S) behind the
rider inside the cargo box that must be charged
nightly. Compartment (T) is for rider’s gear.
RFID - KEYFOB
The RFID keyfobs and keys are specic to your
Coaster ECT.
Swiping the blue RFID chip over the receiver
powers down the system, including the Bosch
motor, and arms the anti-theft alarm.
Even without the Bosch battery installed, the
blue keyfob will turn on the lights (if installed
on your specic Coaster model) using a 12 volt
auxiliary battery located inside the cargo box.
This additional battery allows the anti-theft to
be activated while parked.
What if I lose my RFID keyfob?
A serial number specifies each RFID keyfob.
Record serial number so the key can be identied
for potential key replacement. You can also record
your specic Coaster serial number along with
this information for fast identication.
Why won’t my alarm shut o?
Hold the RFID over the reader until the alarm
shuts o.
The battery was removed, why are the lights
still on?
An internal 12 volt battery on the Parcel and
Freighter models, powers lights and the alarm
system. Hold the RFID keyfob over the sensor
to power them o.
OVERVIEW
What should I do if my battery and Coaster ECT
get wet?
The Bosh battery is designed to shed water and
keep the contacts dry. Before charging, verify the
mount and plug are clean. Completely dry with a
soft rag if chassis or other components are wet
before storing or riding.
www.coastercycles.com p. 32
www.coastercycles.com p. 33
!WARNING!
Damage to the batteries or short circuit
in the electrical system could lead to
overheating or potentially catching re.
Read all Bosch user manuals for proper
storage, maintenance, and usage.
Charging Troubleshooter
If the Bosch battery is not
in use and left on, it will
automatically shut o after
10 minutes to save energy.
Although the battery has
built-in technology to prevent
overheating and short-
circuiting, it will automatically
shut o in the event of danger.
If a fault does occur, two of the
LED’s on the charge indicator
will ash. Take your battery to
a certied Bosch dealer for
servicing.
How far can I ride?
Your distance will depend
on how speedy you are,
what assistance level you
use throughout the day, the
age of the battery, and even
environmental factors.
To plan your trip use the
online range calculator at
bosch-ebike.com/service
Cadence: A higher cadence
optimizes efficiency of the
drive unit.
Shifting: Starting in a smaller
assistance level and building
in speed depending on your
terrain. You can calculate your
range online at bosch-ebike.

The Speed on the On-Board
Computer Display is not
showing -
The speed sensor and the
magnet are not lined up; they
won’t talk to the controller.
Loosen the sensor magnet
bolt and verify it runs past
the mark on the sensor. The
magnet must be present and
positioned correctly, or the
power-assist function will shut
down after a short amount
of time.
If the controller still does not
register speed, visit a Coaster
Repair Technician for service.
DRIVE UNIT
If a fault is detected, a code
appears on the Bosch On-Board
Computer screen. See the Bosch
User Manual for a complete list
of error codes to determine
what type of fault has occurred.
Below is a list of common
errors. A good place to start
is restarting the unit to see if
that clears any errors. Have all
repairs performed by a certied
Bosch Dealer or Coaster Repair
Technician.
