1.- System Description
1.1.- Introduction
London conventional control panel has been certificated under EN 54-2 and EN 54-4standards, according
to the last review, and successfully overcomming the most hard tests about environmental conditions, electrical
conducted noises, electromagnetic radiate upsets, vibrations, etc.
London control panel is based on microprocessed technology of 16 bits . It uses the same capacity to
manage the detection system and to do associated operations, without using traditional electronic devices and
improving its features and performance.
It accepts the majority of conventional detectors of the market according those voltage levels:
•Open Line : 22,50V … 24,00V
•Surveillance State 19,00V … 22,50V
•Detector Alarm 7,00V … 16,00V
•Call Point Alarm 3,50V ... 7,00V
•Crossed Line 0,V ... 3,50V

of both at the same time.
•Access to the inside of the control panel with the key.

5
•Power supply source, independent module that generates the voltage of primary power supply of
30V, that supplies the rest of modules. Here, we can find: the protection fuses, the 30V output, the
terminal batteries connection, relay output:
- Siren: monitors output.

through 10 wires flat cable. 4 zones per module .
•Relay and zone modules can be combined having up to 12 cards in main control panel. For
different configurations, please contact your distributor.
1.4.- External Components
1.4.1.- Conventional Detectors
Smoke Detectors (A30X)
The optical smoke detector (A30XH) is based on the Tyndall effect created in an optical chamber. The
variation of the electrical features in presence of combustion aerosols makes this detector achieve its aim of
detecting fire.
The sensor element is made by an optical chamber with an infrared emitter and receiver. When there is not smoke
the intensity received by the receptor is null due the physical labyrinth between them. In presence of smoke,
infrared reflection in particles males the receiver get a certain light intensity (proportional voltage level according
obscuration level), all this, microprocessor-controlled.
Technical Specifications A30XH
Power Supply 12 – 30V no polarity
Stand by consumption 60 mA (at 18V)
Alarm consumption 40 mA (at 18V)
Activation indicator Doble Red LED
Repeater output Yes
Humidity 20 – 95% HR
Temperature -10º to +40ºC
Sensibility According EN 54-7

6
Heat Detectors (A30XT, A30XV)
Heat detector (DA30XT), gives a temperature alarm produced by a combustion process, independent of
speed, when temperature is 64ºC.
It has a sensor element (thermal function) made with a thermistance (NTC, Negative Temperature Coefficient) and
a comparator circuit with a pre fixed reference value.
Sensor voltage supply and circuit is stabilised, so the detector sensibility is constant in front of variations power
supply. Detector and base are manufactured with ABS plastic thermal resistant.
Rate of rise heat detector (A30XV), has two sensors, one of them gives an alarm according a fast heat
increment produced by a combustion process, and if the speed is not enough fast, then there is the second sensor
that gives the alarm when the temperature is 64ºC. Complying with last EN 54-5.
Sensor voltage supply and circuit is stabilised, so the detector sensibility is constant in front of variations power
supply. Detector and base are manufactured with ABS plastic thermal resistant.

Linear Detector (DL)
Linear Detector is built by an emitter, which projects an infrared beam and a receiver that measures the
beam intensity. Smoke produces a beam intensity reduction that arrives to the receiver.
General Features:
Range: 9 to 100 meters.
Sensibility: The detector has an interrupter with two positions
Position 1: 30% +/- 5% Obscuration total
Position 2: 55% +/- 5% Obscuration total
1.4.2.- Call Points
Alarm Call Point (PUC-AR)
When this call point is pressed, the zone goes to 5V, which is detected by the control panel and then CALL
POINT ALARM will be shown on the LCD screen.
1.4.3.- Sirens (Examples of sirens):
Indoor 24V bi-tonus alarm siren (SIR-24B)

Repeaters show all the information about: alarms, released relays and fault. Also, it is possible to put in order all
the trouble.
1.4.5.- Sub panels
LONDON control panel allows to connect several sub panels. One sub panel is a box with zones and relays
cards. Sub panels has communication with the main control panel trough a RS485 bus communication, with a
maximal distance of 1,2 km. Installation between main control panel and different sub panels is made with 6
cables: 2 for communications RS485, 1 for +5 volts power supply, 1 for +24 volts power supply, 1 for masse and 1
for reset.
The main propose with a sub panels system is simplify the installation with a decrement of cables and costs
times.

•Control Panel External Reset
Input located in power supply card .
To do a reset in control panel it is necessary to bridge the common with reset input during few seconds.
That bridge reset input and common has to be provided by a lock mechanism (p.e: a key) in order to be done
only by an authorized person.

Once realised the repeater connection, it will be needed to configure the main control panel according the
number of repeaters (see point 3.2.5.8.) and communication parameters (see point 3.2.3.5.9.). Communication
parameters must be the same with the repeaters and we must be concerned that are used too for the computer. The
pre- configured values are 9600 bauds, 8 bits for data, 1 bit for stop and no polarity.
2.4.4.- Computer.
As we can see in the picture, we can connect a PC to the control panel to configure it with the help of a
programme software (called EASYLondon), with a serial connector. We have to know that when we connect a PC
the printer and repeater exit must be inability.
Communication with computer requires their configuration (see point 3.2.3.5.9.). The pre- configured
values are 9600 bauds, 8 bits for data, 1 bit for stop and no polarity.
If distance is higher than 5 meters, we will have to change the connection to RS485 than RS232 with a maximal
distance of 1,5 km in consequence.
There is an adaptor to change it from RS232 to RS485 needed to connect the computer by a two wires
system to receive and send (half-duplex). The advantage is use the line Tx y Rx without the necessity of a reception
line because this is done directly by the adaptor automatically.
The adaptor has also a protection to assure EMI’s to the communication.
