Loft Bed Attached to a Wall
Assembly Instructions
Lag Bolt
For the short (width) ends of beds that are attached to a wall with no supporting legs, we provide
an Upper and Lower Header. The rails and headers are attached to the wall with Lag Bolts that
are screwed into the wall studs. Since we don’t know where your wall studs are located we do not
pre-drill pilot holes into the headers. You need to locate the exact center of the wall studs and drill
pilot holes into the headers with ¼” drill bit. Typically there is a wall stud every 16”. Use 4” Lag
Bolts when going through 1-1/2” thick wood and use 6” Lag Bolts when going through 3” thick
wood. Before attaching to the wall lay out all pieces on the floor to see how they all fit together.
A sample Lower Header is shown in
the picture on the right wall. It has
been painted to match the wall color so
it is not as noticeable.
Bed Slats
The Bed Slats at the ends are 2x6 and
the middle slats are 2x3’s. Attach the
bed slats to the rails and headers with
2-1/2” screws as shown in the diagram
below.

Double Bookshelf Headboard Attached To The Wall
If you also ordered the Double Bookshelf Headboard it gets attached to the Rails and wall. After you assemble the Rails
to the Upper Header and before you attach it to the wall you need to attach the Double Bookshelf to the rails. The Upper
Header and the Double Bookshelf Posts will rest on top of the Lower Header.
Step 1. Attach the Double Bookshelf Posts to the rails with 2-1/2” screws from the inside of the rails.
Step 2. Attach the 2x2x5-1/2” shelf supports to the legs with 2-1/2” screws (sometime they are already installed).
Step 3. Attach the shelf to the shelf supports with 1-5/8” screws.
Step 4. Attach the 1x2 Pine Board that is underneath the shelf to the wall studs with 2-1/2” screws. You need to drill pilot
holes as we don’t know where the center of the wall studs are.
