ComNav®Commander P2 Autopilot Operation — Quick Reference Guide
ALARM CLEAR
Press Fn
to clear an alarm.
MODE MENUS
Refer to Operation Manual when setting parameters 
To enter or exit a mode’s menu, double-press the
corresponding mode key (as shown below).
Use or to select a parameter.

Backlight Level [0 = Off, 8 = maximum]

Display [monochrome: Norm, Rev]
[colour: A, B, C]
Watch Alarm [in minutes]
Fishzag Time [in seconds]
Battery [read only]
POWER STEER menu hdouble-press P.STR
Standby/Power Steer Rudder & Remote Tiller Limits
AUTO/NAV Rudder Limits
Head’s Rudder Angle Indicator Offset
AUTO menu hdouble-press AUTO
(parameters marked with Yhave LO & HI speed values)
Rudder Gain Y[1 = minimum, 10 = maximum] 
Counter Rudder Y[0 = minimum, 10 = maximum]
Seastate (Yaw) Y[Automatic, or 1° – 10°]
Turn Rate Y[degrees per second]
(Speed) Parameter Set [Lo, Hi, Auto]
Speed Trip Point [in Knots or Km/H, depends on sensor]
Speed Source [NAV1, NAV2, N2000, NX2]
Automatic Leeway Correction [On, Off]
Thruster Assist [Off, or trip speed: 0.5 – 7 (Kn or Km/H)]
Thruster Gain [Low, Medium, High]
(Thruster operation requires an enabled CT7 Interface)
NAV menu hdouble-press NAV
NAV Source [NAV1, NAV2, N2000, NX2]
XTE (cross-track error) limit [nautical miles]
Waypoint Arrival Sequencing [Manual, Auto, Silent]
Correction [CTS, XTE, or Both]
XTE Sense [Norm, Rev]
Maximum Correction [30° – 90°]
POWER ON/OFF
To Power ON, press for 2 seconds.
To Power OFF, press until RELEASE appears in display.
MODES
Any of these four primary modes may be entered at any time.
STANDBY — vessel is steered manually
(Sis shown in upper left of display)
Press for 2 seconds to switch to STANDBY mode.
POWER STEER — operator steers vessel with knob
(Pis shown in upper left of display)
Press P.STR for 2 seconds to switch to POWER STEER mode.
Use or or to move rudder.
AUTO — autopilot steers to heading set by operator
(Ais shown in upper left of display)
Press AUTO for 2 seconds to switch to AUTO mode.
Use
to change course.
Press Fn for 3 seconds for WORK mode [non-sailboats]
or for AUTO WIND mode [sailboats only].
Use or to dodge obstacles.
NAV — autopilot steers to active GPS waypoint
(Nis shown in upper left of display)
Press NAV for 2 seconds to switch to NAV mode.
Press NAV again to toggle to alternative NAV display.
(press it again to switch back to regular NAV display).
Press Fn for 3 seconds for WORK mode [non-sailboats]
or for NAV WIND mode [sailboats only].
Use or to dodge obstacles.

AUTO or NAV WIND modes
(AWor NWis shown in upper left of display)
Be sure to read the relevant sections of the Operation
Manual prior to using a WIND mode.
Note: WIND modes are available only when Vessel Type
in the DOCKSIDE menu is set to SAIL (a compatible wind speed
transducer must also be connected to the autopilot).
To enter AUTO or NAV WIND mode:
1. Bring the vessel around so that the wind angle on the bow
is between about 45° and 165° (Port or Starboard)
2. Switch to AUTO or NAV mode
3. Press Fn
for 3 seconds
While in a WIND mode:
Use
to change angle to wind. Range is limited to
between CLOSE HAUL and GYBE HOLD POINT settings.
Use and or to TACK or GYBE.
Press AUTO to switch to the alternative AUTO WIND mode
(press it again to switch back to regular AUTO WIND mode).
To exit AUTO or NAV WIND mode:
1. Press
Fn
for 3 seconds.
DOCKSIDE menu
Refer to Installation Manual when using this menu 
To enter the DOCKSIDE menu:
1. Begin with Power OFF.
2. Press while holding both and Fn
3. Release all buttons once the VERSION numbers
are displayed.
Use or to select & highlight a parameter.
Use
to change value of selected parameter.
Press Fn
to begin automated Setup Scripts:
Reset [do not use unless advised by ComNav]
Vessel Type [sets initial steering parameters]
Analog Compass Type [choose appropriate one]
Compass Setup [sets up Compass]
Drive Setup [sets up rudder limits, etc.]
Exit
Alarm Output [sets External Alarm type]
Thruster Type [choose appropriate one]
Thruster Minimum [% of max. supply voltage]
Thruster Maximum [% of max. supply voltage]
(Thruster operation requires a CT7 Interface)
Language [choose appropriate one]
To exit the DOCKSIDE menu:
Highlight Exit and press Fn (go to STANDBY mode)
or else press
until RELEASE appears in display.
(all settings are automatically saved on exiting)
WORK mode
(AWor NWis shown in upper left of display)
Caution! WORK mode should only be used by experienced
operators who fully understand the operation of this mode.
WORK mode is engaged automatically at a set speed
(see Work Trip Point in the Operation Manual),
if the mode is activated by the vessel’s operator.
WORK mode can also be engaged manually (see Manual).
Note: WORK mode is not available if Vessel Type
in the DOCKSIDE menu is set to SAIL.
To activate WORK mode:
1. Switch to AUTO mode or NAV mode.
2. Press Fn
for 3 seconds.
To de-activate WORK mode:
1. Press Fn
for 3 seconds.
