Compaq Remote Insight
Remote Console
Remote Console provides a remote connection to managed servers, allowing a remote PC to display all phases of
server activity (including post sequences and OS load) without loss of connection.
Remote Insight provides Remote Graphical Console capabilities for Windows NT servers utilizing standard graphics
based terminal emulation software tools such as Carbon Copy and pcAnywhere 32.
Remote Reboot
Allows the remote administrator to reboot the server on demand; when the system is functioning properly, the system
performs a graceful shutdown prior to reset; when the system is not responding, a cold reboot will be issued in order
to bring the server back on-line.
On-board Modem
Integrated 14.4 Kb/s modem, interchangeable Data Access Arrangement (DAA) localizes support to country-specific
telecommunications requirements.
Battery Backup
Integrated, user-replaceable battery provides at least 30 minutes of operation to guarantee alert delivery in the event
of a server power failure.
Reset and Failure Sequence Replay
Captures and stores server video text to assist in locating startup problems and causes of failure; information is
available for replay on demand.
Compaq Insight Manager Integration
Fully integrates with Compaq Insight Manager under key operating environments, providing hardware-based
asynchronous server manageability; supports full out-of-band SNMP management
Remote Insight Console Application
Remote Insight functionality can be accessed through a text-based console application residing locally on the board,
using standard ANSI terminal emulation packages. This increases flexibility in the event that Insight Manager may not
be available.
Browser Accessible
Remote Insight is accessible with NetScape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer for performing remote
management tasks.
Integrated with Compaq Survey
Utilizing industry-standard browsers, users can access the Compaq Survey configuration file providing the latest
server configuration information to assist in the diagnostic process.
User Administration
Supports up to 12 users with customizable access rights, each with individual log in and password protection to
ensure security
Alert Administration
Provides support for alphanumeric or numeric paging, as well as alerts delivery to an Insight Manager console
Event Log
Includes a detailed event log, which is easily accessible through the Remote Insight Console or through Compaq
Insight Manager
