STANDARD FEATURES
Performance Leader
Compaq sets the standard for simple, cost-effective
Ethernet switching. The Netelligent 5226A Ethernet
Switch is the ideal networking device for workgroup
environments that need expansion or improved
performance.
Performance by Design
The Compaq developed Application Specific
Integrated Circuit (ASIC) of the Netelligent 5226A
Ethernet Switch provides high-end performance in
workgroup environments. The Netelligent 5226A is
full duplex capable, providing a total of 1.05 Gb/s
throughput for day-to-day usage or critical
applications.
Flexibility
The Netelligent 5226A Ethernet Switch provides
flexibility in network design and switch placement.
24 10Base-T ports provide downstream connectivity
to hubs, PCs, or other switches. Two fixed
10/100Base-TX ports provide high-speed uplinks to
backbones and server farms. An optional uplink
module offers two additional Fast Ethernet ports –
10/100Base-TX or 100Base-FX. The 10/100Base-TX
ports (both fixed and modular) have full auto-
negotiation capabilities for full or half duplex. The
10Base-T and 100Base-FX ports are configurable in
full or half duplex mode.
Manageability
The Netelligent 5226A provides sophisticated
SNMP, RMON (groups 1, 2, 3, and 9), RMON probe
support and port-level VLAN as standard
management features. Utilizing the on-board
management engine, the Netelligent 5226A provides
both in-band management (through any Ethernet
port) and out-of-band management (through the
RS232 port). The Netelligent 5226A switch includes
Compaq Netelligent Management Software (CNMS),
so the user can immediately configure the switch, get
detailed port-level information or graph performance
statistics.
Remote Management via the Web
CNMS includes a SNMP proxy Web-based
management tool. This HTML-based application is
used in conjunction with CNMS to provide an easy to
use and flexible network management platform. The
Web browser interface provides such capabilities as
device-level management and configuration, map
data, BootP and TFTP services and event log
hyperlink displays.
World Class Compaq Reliability
The Compaq designed ASIC switch engine improves
performance, lowers cost and increases reliability.
Dual Redundant Power
The Netelligent 5226A ships standard with a 90-watt
power supply. A second optional redundant, ‘hot-
swappable’ power supply may be added for
maximum power reliability.
Diagnostic LEDs
Hands free, ‘at-a-glance’ LEDs display link,
collision, network activity, primary and redundant
power.
Warranty
Compaq supports this product with a three-year
limited warranty1, one of the longest in the industry.
