1. Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the Comsol USB2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1.
Exchanging data between your computer and Digital Camera, MP3, PDA etc. has
never been so fast and convenient. Supporting almost all of the available storage
cards including: SD, Mini SD, SD Ultra II, MMC 1, MMC 2, RSMMC, MicroDrive,
CF I, CF II, CF-Ultra II, CF-Extreme, MS, MS Pro, MS Pro Duo, MS Pro (MG), MS
Pro Duo (MG), TransFlash, you’ll be sure to find a quick all-in-one solution for
transferring data between different devices.
The Comsol USB2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 provides true plug-and-play capability, and
requires no driver under Windows ME/2000/XP/Mac OS 9.x above and Linux; bringing
you convenient and high-speed access to a variety of storage cards.

USB specification revision 2.0 compliant and 1.1 compatible
Allows data exchange between different sockets
Hi-Speed USB interface; access speed reaches 480 Mb/s.
USB bus powered. AC power adapter is not required.

driver needed under Windows ME/2000/XP and Linux (requires editing kernel
code).

5. Indicators
Two active LED indicators are used to display operation status of your Hi-Speed
USB Card Reader. The Blue LED flashing means the reader is reading or writing
data in inserted cards.
WARNING!
Do not insert or extract storage cards while the Blue LED is
flashing. Storage cards must be taken off before insertion or
removal of the card reader.

6. Driver Installation
6.1Windows®ME/2000/XP Driver Installation
6.1.1 No Driver installation is required, the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader
17-in-1 will function with the default drivers
6.2 Windows®98 Driver Installation
6.2.1 Insert the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 software driver into
the CD-ROM drive and double click “D:\ Card Reader\setup.exe” in
the dialogue (D: represents CD-ROM)
6.2.2 Follow the instructions to complete the setup program
6.2.3 When setup is complete, restart your computer.
6.2.4 Attach the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 to an available USB
port.
6.2.5 Windows will detect the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 and
install the driver automatically.
6.3 Mac OS 8.6 Driver Installation
6.3.1 Insert the Setup Disc into the CD-ROM drive
6.3.2 Double-click the CD-ROM icon on the desktop, and then run the USB
Reader Installer application, the content of Read Me appears. Click on
Continue to proceed. You can also find this file in the Setup Disc if
you want to view it later on.
6.3.3 The Installer Dialog appears. Select USB Reader Installer in the pop-
up menu and then click on the Install button to install the device driver.
6.3.4 A warning dialog will appear on the screen telling you that you should
quit all running applications before installation.
6.3.5 Click Continue button to start copying files. Click Cancel button if you
want to quit other running applications first.
6.3.6 After copying is completed, the Restart dialog appears. Click Restart
button to restart the system or click Quit button to exit the installer.
7. Hardware Setup
7.1Windows®
After completing device driver setup for your Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader
17-in-1 and restarting the system, refer to following instructions to install the
reader.
7.1.1 Connect USB cable from your reader unit to available USB port of
your computer.
7.1.2 Your computer will automatically recognize the Comsol USB 2.0 Card
Reader 17-in-1 and register new devices.
7.1.3 Four Removable Disk icons representing the sockets will be added
onto My Computer.
7.1.4 The installation of your Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 is now
complete.

7.2 Mac OS
7.2.1 After completing device driver installation and restarting your system,
simply plug your Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 into available
USB port on your Macintosh computer, then the system will do the
installation. Now you may enjoy the ease of use and high access
speed of the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 on your Macintosh.
8. Using the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1
8.1Windows®
8.1.1 Insert your storage card
8.1.2 Open My Computer or File Explorer
8.1.3 Double-click on the proper Removable Disk icon
8.1.4 Access images and files on your storage cards just as the way you
open, copy, move, or delete images and files on your hard disk drive.
8.1.5 Do not insert or extract storage cards while the Blue LED is
flashing.
8.2 Mac OS
8.2.1 Showing a disk icon on desktop:
8.2.1.1 Connect your Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1 to the
USB port on Mac, then insert your storage card into the slot
on the card reader, a disk icon will appear on desktop
representing the card.
8.2.2 Accessing files or folders to the disk:
8.2.2.1 You can drag'n drop files or folders from/to the disk just like
you do to system HD or other Macintosh storage devices.
8.2.3 WARNING!
Remember to drag the disk icon representing the storage card to
the trash box before extracting the card from the reader or
unplugging the reader unit from USB port.

9. Un-Installing the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1
Should you feel necessary to remove the installed software and driver files of your
Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in 1, please follow the instructions below:
9.1 Windows®Un-installation
9.1.1 Un-plug the Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in 1 from the USB port
9.1.2 Click Start, and then click Programs
9.1.3 Highlight USB Mass Storage Reader and click on UnInstall
9.1.4 When the dialog box appears to confirm the un-installation, click Yes
9.1.5 The software and driver will then be automatically removed
9.2 Mac Un-installation
9.2.1 Repeat steps 1-3 in Mac Driver installation, but in the Installer Dialog
choose Uninstall
9.2.2 Click Uninstall to remove driver files. After un-installation, a warning
showing some files/folder could not be deleted may appear. Please
click OK ignoring this message.
10. Troubleshooting your Comsol USB 2.0 Card Reader 17-in-1
10.1 How to use USB 2.0 Card Reader on Linux system?
The kernel code be should 2.4.0 or later versions. Then, the kernel code
must be edited manually. Please refer to the file LINUX_HOWTO.txt in the
Setup CD for instruction of editing source code.
10.2 My system is Mac OS, and I have installed the device driver but the
system could not identify the USB 2.0 Card Reader. What should I do?
If you are using iMac computer, please check up if you have latest update of
Mac OS and iMac Firmware update. Refer to and make certain your
Macintosh meets the requirements.
