1. Intended Use
The access control system is designed to release lock combinations via a numerical code. This
systemmust bedriven bythe "KeyMatic®KM300"door-locking device.Thisproductismoreover
suitableforradioorcablecontrolled,doubleswitchchanneloperationofbell(1-2familyhomes)and
lightingsystems,etc.Pleaseadheretotheappropriateinstructionslaidoutinthismanual.
Thisdoesnotincludeoperationforotherapplicationsandwouldinsodoingresultina
lapseoftheguaranteeandanyrelatedliability.Thisisalsothecaseifanyunauthorised
changesoradditionshavebeenmadetotheproduct.Moreover,thisannulstheapproved
(CE)license.
Pleasereadthroughtheentiremanualcarefullybeforeputtingthisproductintooperation.
This operating manual contains guidelines that are vital for correct mounting and
operation.

4. Features and functions
The"KeyMatic®CAC"accesscontrolsystemenablesyoutolock,unlockandevenopendoorsvia
the"KeyMatic®KM300"radiocontrolleddoorlockdrivingsystem,andisactivatedbyenteringacode
number.
Additionallyabellsystemcanbeoperatedfor1-2familyhomeseitherviaawirelinkorradiocontrolled
(usingthe"KM300FG"Radio-gong).
Furthermoreyouhaveaccesstotwoextracontroloutputsthatcouldforexamplebeconnectedtoa
lightingsystem.ControlcanbeachievedagaineitherviaawirelinkorwirelessusingtheFS20radio
switchsystem.
Thissystemhasbeenespeciallymanufacturedtohavethefollowingparticularfeaturesand
designs.
• Locking, unlocking of door locks and the opening of doors via the radio-controlled "KeyMatic®
KM300" door locking system with code entry (secure data transferring and code alterations
system)
• TemporarilyprogrammableParty-function(dooropensforalimitedtimewithoutcodeentry)
• Twofunctionkeysthatcanindividuallybedesignatedtodirectlycontrolanintegratedswitchrelay
(max.load: 1A/30VDC/AC),andareceivercomponentforaFS20-Radioswitchsystemand/or
a"KM300FG"Radiogong
• Individualconfiguration,illuminateddisplay,periodicalorconstantlighting(constantlightingwith
externalmainssupply),programmableswitch-ontime.
• Illuminatedkeypad
• Simpleinstallation,madepossiblebyachoiceofconnections,eitherviathehousesystem(e.g.
adualcablefromtheexistingbell)orifnotviabatteryoperation
• Access for up to 20 users and one administrator, access times can be programmed for each

incorrecthandlingornon-compliancewiththesafetyinstructions.Anyclaimto
warranty will lapse in such cases.
Dear Customer, the following safety instructions are intended not only for the
protection of your health but also for the protection of the device. Please read
through the following points carefully:
• Donot usethisproduct inhospitalsormedicalinstitutions.
The product only emits relatively weak radio signals. These radio signals could,
however,leadtomalfunctionsinlife-supportsystems.Thesamemayapplytoother
workingareas.
• The"KeyMatic®CAC"accesscontrolsystemhasbeendesignedforuseininteriors
and protected exterior areas. It complies with an IP 33 protection classification
(protectionagainstforeignobjectsandwaterspray).
Mount this product so that it is protected from direct precipitation (rain/snow) e.g.
underacanopy.Pleasepayparticularattentiontothechapteroutlininginstallation.
• Theauthorisedoperationaltemperaturesare-20°Cto+50°C.
Thedeviceshouldnotbeexposedtodust,vibrations,strongelectricalandmagnetic
fieldsas well asdirect strong sunlight(orother directsourcesof heat).
• Thedevice is nota toy andhas noplacein thehands of children.
• Forsafetyandlicensing(CE)reasons,unauthorisedconversionand/ormodifications
totheproductarenotpermitted.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly! Plastic foil/bags and
polystyrenepartsetc.canbecomedangerousinthehandsofchildren.
• Handletheproductwith care.Itcanbe damagedthroughimpact,blows orbybeing
droppedevenfromalowheight.
• Pleasadheretotheoperationalvoltage limitationslistedinthetechnicaldata.High
voltagecoulddestroythedeviceandposeahealthhazard(electricshock).

• Wheninstallingtheenclosedbellsystem,ensurethatthemainsandlowvoltagecircuit
areseparatedwithatransformerwithgalvanisedwinding(safetybelltransformer).
Ifindoubtallowaprofessionalelectrician tomount, installand wire-upyourdevice.
Improperormake-doelectricalconnectiontothemainsdoesonlyrepresentathreat
toyoubutalso toother persons.
Ourtechnicaladvisorsareavailableforanyfurtherinformation.
• Wire-uptheentiresystemmakingsurethatthemainsandlowvoltagecircuitremain
separatedandcannotcomeintocontactwitheachotherinnormaluseorduetoany
malfunctioning.

6. Battery and accumulator information
• Batteriesmust bekept outof thereach ofchildren.
• Makesureyouinsertthebatteries/accumulatorswiththecorrectpolarity.
• Do not leave the batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of their being swallowed by
childrenordomesticanimals.Ifswallowed,consultadoctorimmediately.
• Leakingordamagedbatteries/accumulatorscancauseburningiftheycomeintocontactwiththe
skin.Forthisreasonyoushouldusesuitableprotectivegloves.
• Makesurethatbatteries/accumulatorsarenotshort-circuitedorthrownintoafire,Thereisarisk
ofexplosion!
• Neverdismantlebatteries/accumulators!
• Batteriesarenotrechargeable.Thereisariskofexplosion!
• In case of longer periods of non-use (e.g. during storage) remove the inserted batteries/
accumulatorstoavoiddamagebyaleakingbattery/accumulator.
• Whenchangingbatteries/accumulatorsalwaystheentiresetandreplaceonlywiththoseofthe
sametype.
• Nevermixbatterieswithaccumulators!
)Pleasenote:
Operationwith accumulators is alsopossible. Due tothe reduced voltagecapacityof
accumulators(accumulator=1.2V,battery=1.5V)thiscouldleadtoareducedoperational
periodofthedevice.Particularlycoldenvironments(e.g.inwinter)alsohaveanegative
effectonthe servicelifeof accumulators.
It is possible that after a short operational period that the display will read "batteries
empty".
Wethereforerecommend:
Ifyoucannotuseanexternalmains supply(8-12V, AC/DCis possible),then ensurea
longerbatterylifebyusingalkalinebatteries.

8. Mounting
a) Site for mounting
Selectasitewhereyourdevicecanbemounted,makingsurethatitmeetsthefollowingrequirements:
• Protectedfromtheeffectsofweathering,e.g.underneathacanopyoreave
• Protectedagainstvandalism(notvisiblefromthestreetbutmountedonpropertygroundsorinan
ante-room)
• Mountwithinthereceptionrangeofthe"KeyMatic®KM300"doorlockdrive(inidealcircumstances
ofan openspacetherangeis upto max.100m, withinabuilding somewhatless dependingon
buildingmaterial)
• If replacing an existing bell key the "KeyMatic®CAC" should be mounted in the same position
(otherwiseextracablelayingworkwillbenecessary)
• Batterypowerallowsyouto beveryflexibleinthechoice ofasiteformounting
Ifthekeypadand/ordisplaymustbeilluminatedatalltimes,thenthedevicemustbeconnected
toanalreadyexistingmainslineorothersourceofvoltage(8-12VAC/DC).Examplesofinstallation
possibilitiesareillustratedonthenextpage.
b) Changing the key covering
)Ifyouintendtoexchangethe"KeyMatic®CAC"bellbuttonforuseina2familyhouseor
severalpersonsinonehouse(e.g.parents/children/grandparentsortwofirms),exchange
thefunctionkeys coveringforthe coveringmarkedwitha 1and2.
• Carefullyremovethefunctionkeyscovering1as
illustratedinthepictureontheright,andusinga
screwdriver(keysarelightlyclickedintoplace).
• Removethefunctionkeyscovering2inthesame
way.
• Then put both of the numbered coverings in
place: firstlybyinsertingtheminthehousingslot
ontheleft,andthenpushdownontherightuntil
itclicks into place.
Thecoveringnumbered2belongstothefunction
keys 2 (upper keys); the covering numbered 1
belongstothefunctionkeys1(lowerkeys).

c) Mounting device, inserting batteries
• Loosenthemountingplatewith
the help of the key included
(approx.½turn carefully tothe
left).
Thenremovethemountingplate
from the housing (by pulling
downwards).
• Pull the mains cable from the attaching plug out of the connector
PCB’srecessedconnector,seeillustrationright.
)Donotuseforce,thiscouldotherwiseloosentheflatcable
in its plug fitting.
• Laythemountingplate flatonthemounting surfaceandmarkthe
drillingpointswithapenthroughthethreemountingholes(marked
witha circleinthe pictureopposite).
• Dependingonthenatureofthemountingsurfacedrill3holes(5mm)
anduseraw-plugsifnecessary.
Pay attention when drilling/tightening the screws
that no power, gas or water pipes can be damaged!
Warning! Life hazard caused by an electric shock!
Also take care not to hit any gas or water lines!
• Carryoutthefollowingifyouaremountingwithacableconnection:
1. Turnoffthemainssupplytoanyconnecteddevices,e.g.belltransformerandremovethefuses
forthe stair-lightsandbell unit.
2. Ifyou wantto runa cablefrom belowinto theunit, pokethrough thecable guidinghole.
3. Feedtheappropriatecablethroughthecableguideoralongtherecessinthemountingplate
andattachthecableendsaccordingtothedesiredwiringsystem(seethefollowingchapter)
into thescrew clampsand tighten(for layoutsee chapter7).

• Attachthe mountingplate withthe threeflat headedscrews includedand putthe screwrubber
sealsintoplace.
• Insertfourbatteries(AA/Mignon)inthecorrectpolarityinthebatterycompartment.Lookintothe
batterycompartmentfortheappropriate(plusandminus)markings,seethefollowingillustration.
)Pleasenote:
Stillinsertbatteriesevenifyouareusingan externalpowersource.If thereisapower
cut, the batteries act as a back-up, this ensures that the time functions are not lost or
erased.
• Insertingthebatteriesactivatesthedisplayandthefollowing
isshown:
• Hold the unit as illustrated on the right in front of the
mounting plate, so that the plug connection hangs
downfromthehousing.
• Pushtheplugintoplaceasillustratedintotherecessed
connectoroftheconnectingPCB.
• Positiontheunitcarefullyontothewallmountingbracket
on(1). Slideitdownwards(2)untilitclicksintoplace.
• Lockthehousingintoplacewithaclockwise½turnof
thescrew(includedindelivery).
• Ifyouusinganexternalvoltagesupplyyoucannowturn
iton.
• Themountingprocedureisnowcomplete.

9. Installation variations
The operation can take place wireless i.e.: via radio and battery control and also via a cable
connection.Controllingthe"KeyMatic®KM300"andthe"KM300FG"Radiogongcanbeachieved
inbothcaseswireless,viaradio.
Thefollowingsectionsoutlinevariouskindsofoperationandconnection.Theycanbecombinedwith
theappropriateprogrammingdependingonyourpersonalneedsandproposeduse.

a) General
Operatives, general tips and terms
• Opening,lockingandunlockingthedoorviathekeypadshouldbepossible,unlessothersettings
havealreadybeenmade,withthefirstpressofakeyfollowingtherequest foravalidusercode
number.
• Thefunction keys however immediatelyactivate the setoperative, as longas the keysarenot
protectedwitha code.Inthis case,acode entryisrequested attheend oftheoperative.
• Settingsasdescribedinthe"Programming"chaptercanonlybecarriedoutwithanauthorization
(referredtoas "Administrator"in thefollowingtext),which givesyouaccess tothesystem.
Normal User cannot alter these settings, and can only carry out certain user operations as
describedin sectionsb) andc) below.
• Theexecutionofoperatives(User)andprogramming(Administrator)requirestheentryofcertain
codes (the lengths of which can vary between 3 and 12 digits depending on the programming
variables).Theusercanbeidentifiedbythesecodes.
• AprogrammedtimebracketforuseraccessisprogrammableviatheAdministrator(referredto
as"Timer" inthetext below).
• As a rule the bell function will signalise if a new visitor is ringing.
Donotpassyourpersonalcodeontostrangers.Donotallowyourcodetobeoverseen
bystrangerswhileyouareenteringit.Shieldtheentrykeypadwithyourhandorbodyand
looktoseeifanyminicamerashavebeeninstalledwithoutyourawareness.Otherwise
youwillallowfreeentryintoyourprotectedproperty!
Display
• In Stand-bymodethedisplaywillshowthe current timeand awelcomemessage.
Lighting
• Iftheunithasanexternalpowersupply,thekeypadandbothofthefunctionkeysremainlitduring
theprogrammedoperationalperiod.
• Iftheunitisbatterypoweredthekeypadanddisplaylightingwillcomeonafterthefirstpressing
ofoneofthekeys.Thedisplaylightingwillturnitselfoff8secondsafterthelastkeyoperationto
saveonpower.

• Pressanynumberkey.
• "Code"appearsinthedisplay.
• Enteryour usercode andthenpress the‘key.
• Thedisplayindicatesthe RadiomastandtheUnlock symbol(¥).
• Thelockdrivewillthenreleasethelock.
)Pleasenote:
Ifyouenterthewrongcodebymistake,thenyoucandeletetheincorrectentrybypressing
the’keyandkeeping itpressedandthenre-enter thecode.
Afterpressingtheunlockkey,othercodedreleasetimeswillbeavailablethatyoucan
programmeunderthe"Releaseperiod"function.Duringthisperiodyourusernamewill
bedisplayedundertheintroductorytext.
Ifyourswitchcommanddoesnotreachthedoorunitdue,forexampletoatransmission
malfunction, you can still try to release the lock without having to re-enter the access
code,aslongasitiswithinthereleaseperiodThereleaseperiodisre-startedwithevery
pushof a key.
Ifnecessaryyoucanimmediatelyendthereleaseperiodsimplybypressingthe ‚
key.
Thisisuseful,ifthelockisclosedandyouwanttopreventanyfurtherpersonfrombeing
abletoopenthelockduringthereleaseperiod.
Special functions:
Openingfunction
• The"Open"functionisoperatedbypressingthe‘keyandopensthelockandreleasesthe
door(thedoorcatchisdrawnin).Theresultingpressureagainstthedoorsealingcausesthedoor
toopen ajar. Ifyou do notwant thisfunction simply setto "Unlock".
Party function
• Thecodelockisreleasedforaprogrammedperiodoftime. Thedoorcanthenbeopened,without
havingtoenter acode,simply bypressingthe‘key.
• The Open symbol (¥) is continuously displayed to indicate that the Party function has been
activated.
Duresscode
• If you for example are being forced to open the door the "KeyMatic®CAC" is backed up with a
compulsorycodefunction(i.e.;aspecialcode!).
• Byenteringthisspecialcode(insteadofthenormalAdmin/Usercode)thedoorwillbeopenedas
normal.Inaddition,howeveranalarmsignalwillbesentbytheoptional"AW50Alarmdiallingunit"
(notincludedwiththe"KeyMaticCAC",availableonrequest)toanoutsidelocationsignallingthem
ofthesituation.
