GETTING STARTED
Quick set up
1. • Unclip the aerial and fully extend it (steps A and B).
• Insert the jack of the supplied mains adapter into the socket on the rear of the radio (C).
• Plug the mains adapter into the mains supply (D).
2. Press the Standby button to power on .

3. The first time you switch on you will be asked if you would like to run the setup wizard, which
will help you connect to your Wi-Fi. If you want to run the setup wizard now, turn and press
the Select dial to select ‘Yes’ and follow the prompts on screen. To set up later, turn and press
the Select dial to select ‘No’.
UNDERSTANDING THE CONTROL FUNCTIONS
ADJUSTING AND MUTING THE VOLUME
Turn the Volume dial or press the Volume buttons on the remote to increase or decrease the volume.
INTERNET LISTENING
You can connect the Internet Radio to your network to get access to thousands of internet radio
stations and podcasts from around the world. Once connected to the internet you can also access
additional subscription services such as Spotify, which provides you with instant access to millions
of music tracks.

LISTENING TO INTERNET CONTENT
Thousands of radio stations around the world
broadcast online. To listen to an internet radio
station or podcast:
1. Press the Source button to display the
‘function’ menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select
‘Internet radio’.
3. Press and hold the Menu button to view the
main menu,
4. Turn and press the Select dial to select one
of the following options:
Station list: Select this option to see a list of currently available Internet stations or listen to
podcasts
(see ‘Station list’ below for more information).
System settings: Select this option to change settings
Main menu: Select this option to view main menu.
Station list
You can listen to a range of radio stations. Turn and press the Select dial to select one of the
following options:
History
Select this option to tune into the last station you were listening to.
Search
Select this option to search for an internet radio station. Turn and press the Select dial to highlight
and select characters. Select ‘BKSP’ to delete a character. Turn and press the Select dial to start
searching for an internet station. To cancel your search, turn and press the Select dial to select
‘CAN’.
Location
Select this option to browse for an internet radio station based in your country. Turn and press the
Select dial to select ‘All stations’ to view all local based stations in alphabetical order. To browse
for a station based on genre, turn and press the Select dial to select the genre you want to browse
for.
Popular
Select this option to browse for a music radio station.
Discover
Tap Search when browsing the station list to search for stations by Origin, Genre, Language, or
show stations of these. Use the Select dial to set your options and tap Go to see the list of results.

PODCASTS
Podcasts are pre-recorded audio shows on a wide variety of
subjects such as comedy, arts, business, and culture, for you
to enjoy anytime.
Thousands of radio stations around the world broadcast
online. To listen to a Podcasts station or podcast:
1. Press the Source button to display the ‘function’ menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘Podcasts’.
3. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to select one of the
following options:
Podcasts list: Select this option to see a list of currently available Internet stations or
listen to podcasts (see ‘Station list’ below for more information).
System settings: Select this option to change settings
Main menu: Select this option to view main menu.
STREAMING BLUETOOTH AUDIO
Streaming using Bluetooth
You can use Bluetooth to stream any audio from your phone or tablet.
Pairing a mobile device
Before you can stream audio, you will need to pair your phone or tablet.
Note: Bluetooth pairing varies on different mobile devices. See your mobile device manual for
specific information.
To pair using Bluetooth:
1. Press the Source button and turn and press the Select dial to select ‘Bluetooth’. Display the
Bluetooth input display and the Bluetooth icon will start to flash.
Note: If the Bluetooth icon is displayed, another Bluetooth device is already connected. See
below for more information.
2. On your mobile device, select the option to add a new Bluetooth device. On some mobile
devices you may need to select the search or scan option.
3. Start the pairing process on your mobile device. Do this by selecting ‘G040’ from the list of
available devices that appear on the mobile device’s screen. Your mobile device will connect
automatically once paired.
4. After selecting your favourite song, press PLAY/PAUSE Button on the unit to play or pause
the song.
Disconnecting a mobile device
You can only have one mobile device connected to via Bluetooth at any one time. If you want to
stream audio from a different mobile device, you will need to disconnect any mobile device that is
currently connected via Bluetooth first.
To disconnect a mobile device:
1. Press and hold the PAIR Button for 3 seconds or turn off the Bluetooth function of device
currently paired with”G040”then repeat step 3 above.

2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘Yes’ to disconnect your mobile device.
If your mobile device goes out of Bluetooth range (this is usually around 10m (30ft)) the mobile
device’s Bluetooth connection is disconnected automatically. To manually disconnect your
mobile device , you will need to open the Bluetooth settings on your mobile device (see your
mobile device’s manual for more information).
When you disconnect a mobile device, it will remain in the ‘Bluetooth’ source. To listen to another
source, e.g. digital radio, press the Function button to display the home menu and turn and press
the Select dial to choose the source you want to listen to.
LISTENING TO DAB OR FM RADIO
CHANGING DAB STATIONS
1. Press the Source button and turn and press the Select
dial to select ‘DAB radio’ from the Home screen. During
the scan the display will show “Scanning… ” ,The first
time you select DAB radio, an auto tune will be
performed to find all available stations and one station
will be tuned into when scanning is finished.
Station List:
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main
menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘ station list’.
3. A list of DAB stations will show on the display
Auto Scan
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main
menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘ Scan ’.
3. All the stations that have been found will be stored
automatically.
Manual Tuning
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help you when
aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘Manual Tuning’.
Prune Invalid
You may remove all unavailable stations from the list.
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select “Prune invalid ’.

3. Press Select dial to select YES and press select button to confirm. Or select NO to cancel.
DRC (Dynamic Range Compression)
If you are listening to music with high dynamic range in a noisy environment, you may wish to
compress the audio dynamic range
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘ DRC
3. Press Select dial to select DRC high/low/o- and press ENTER button to confirm the setting.
CHANGING FM STATIONS
Seek tuning
1. Press the Source button and turn and press the Select
dial to select ‘FM radio’ from the Home screen.
2. Press the Select dial to seek to the next FM radio
station that has a strong signal.
Manual tuning
1. Press the Source button and turn and press the Select
dial to select ‘FM radio’ from the Home screen.
2. Press and hold the Select button to enter manual tuning
mode.
3. Turn the Select dial to step up or down 0.05 MHz
STORING A PRESET
1. Tune to the station you want to store as a preset.
2. Press and hold the Preset button to view the preset list.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to store the radio station to one of the available preset slots.
Listening to a preset
1. Press the Preset button to display the preset list.
2.Turn and press the Select dial to select the preset that you want to listen to.
SETTING ALARMS AND TIMERS
Setting an alarm
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘Alarms’
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘Alarm 1’ or ‘Alarm 2’.
3. Turn the Select dial to scroll through each alarm setting. If you want to change a setting, press
the Select dial. You can set the following alarm options:
Enable: Turn and press the Select dial to choose when you want the alarm to repeat. The
available options are ‘Off ’,‘Daily’, ‘Once’, ‘Weekends’ or ‘Weekdays’.

Time: Turn and press the Select dial to adjust the hour of the alarm. Note: If you have set
to use the 12 hour time format, make sure that you select the ‘AM’ or ‘PM’ version
of the hour before pressing the Select dial. Repeat to set the minutes of the alarm.
Mode: Turn and press the Select dial to choose between ‘Buzzer’, ‘Internet radio’, ‘DAB’,
‘FM’
Volume: Turn and press the Select dial to set the volume when the alarm sounds.
Save: Turn and press the Select dial to save the alarm.
SLEEP SETTING
This function allows you to program the unit to turn to standby mode by itself after a set period of
time.
1. To activate the sleep function, press the SLEEP button repeatedly. The time will change in the
below sequence on every press: Sleep off-15mins - 30mins - 45mins - 60mins
2. When your desired sleep time appears in the display, stop pressing the button and the sleep
function will be activated in two seconds. Sleep will show on the display. Also the time
remaining until switch off is displayed next to the symbol in the display.
3. When the sleep timer counts down to zero, the unit will turn to standby mode. To turn the
sleep function off while the sleep timer is still counting down, press the SLEEP button
repeatedly to select “SLEEP OFF”. Sleep will disappear from the display.
4. Press the SLEEP button once to show the sleep timer status on the display when it is turned on.
OPTIONS AND SETTINGS
Setting the Equalizer setting
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Equalizer’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose between ‘Flat’ , ‘Jazz’, ‘Rock’, ‘Movie’, ‘Classic’, Pop’
‘News’ and ‘My EQ”. If you want to use a my EQ equalisation setting, select ‘my EQ’ (see below
for more information).
Setting the bass and treble manually
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu..
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Equalizer’ > ‘My EQ setup’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Bass’ or ‘Treble’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to set the level from ‘-14dB‘ (low) to ‘+14dB’ (high).
Time and date settings
The clock will automatically set itself using your Network, digital or FM radio signal. If the time or
date does not update automatically, you can manually set it using this option.
Note: Any time or date updates received by a digital broadcast will override manual settings.
Setting the time and date manually
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Set Time/Date’.

4. Turn and press the Select dial to set the day of the month. Repeat to set the month and year.
5. Turn and press the Select dial to set the hour. Repeat to adjust the minutes.
Note: If you have set the time format to 12 hour time format, make sure that you select the
‘AM’ or
‘PM’ version of the hour before pressing the Select dial.
Time and date synchronization options
You can synchronize the time and date on the FM, digital radio or network signal.
To specify the clock synchronization options:
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Auto update’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose between the ‘Update from DAB’, ‘Update from FM’,
‘Update from Network’ and ‘No Update’ clock synchronization options.
Changing the time format
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Set format ’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose between ‘12’ or ‘24’ hours.
Changing the time zone
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Set time zone’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose your Time zone
Daylight saving time options
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Daylight savings’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Yes’ if you want to enable daylight savings time. Turn
and press the Select dial to choose ‘No’ if you want to disable daylight savings time.
Changing your preferred language
You can select the language for menus and options.
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu..
2. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Language’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to select a menu language.
Inactive Standby
Use the Inactive Standby to turn off the unit after a certain time in play mode.
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Inactive Standby’.

3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Inactive Standby ’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose between the Off - > 2 hours > 4 hours > 5 hours > 6
hours.
Backlight
You can adjust the duration that the screen is illuminated for and the brightness of the screen
when it times out.
To adjust the duration of the screen backlight before dimming:
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Backlight’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Timeout’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose a timeout setting. To specify that the backlight should
always remain on, choose ‘On’.
On level
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu
2. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Backlight’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘On Level’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose between ‘High’, ‘Medium’ or ‘Low’.
Dim level
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Backlight’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘Dim Level’.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to choose between ‘High’, ‘Medium’, ‘Low’ or ‘Off’.
Carrying out a factory reset
Resetting removes all presets, stored stations, alarms and resets all other options to default
settings.
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Factory Reset’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘Yes’ to reset factory settings. Select ‘No’ if you do not
want to reset to factory settings.
NETWORK SETTINGS
Connecting to your Wi-Fi using the setup wizard
1. Press and hold the Menu button to view the main menu.
2. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Network’ > ‘Network wizard’.
3. Turn and press the Select dial to select your region. The internet radio will search for available
Wi-Fi networks.
4. Turn and press the Select dial to select the name (SSID) of your Wi-Fi network. If your network
requires a key, follow steps 5-6.
5. Enter your network key or password by turning and pressing the Select dial to highlight and
select characters. If you want to delete the last character, turn the Select dial to select ‘BKSP’

and push to confirm.
6. Turn and press the Select dial to select ‘OK’. will connect to your network.
Helpful hint: Your Wi-Fi key is case sensitive, make sure to enter it exactly as shown.

PLUG WIRING (UK & IRELAND)
This appliance is supplied with a mains adaptor/charger with BS1363 plug pins.
DO NOT use If the socket outlets in your home or office are not suitable for this product’s mains adaptor/
charger plug pins. Attempts to insert the mains adaptor/charger into the wrong socket is likely to cause
electric hazard or damage.
DO NOT use with any other mains transformer/charger than the one that is supplied with this product.

This product is intended for use in moderate climates.
Do not use in a wet/moist environment such as in the shower or bathroom if plugged into the mains
supply. The power supply shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with
liquids, such as vases, placed above it.
ON CONDENSATION
When left in a heated room where it is warm and damp, water droplets or condensation may form
inside the unit.
When there is condensation inside the unit, the unit may not function normally.
Let it stand for 1 to 2 hours before turning the power on, or gradually heat the room up and dry the
unit before use.
PROTECT YOUR FURNITURE!!
This system is equipped with non-skid rubber ‘feet’ to prevent the product from moving when you
operate the controls. These ‘feet’ are made from non-migrating rubber material specially formulated to
avoid leaving any marks or stains on your furniture. However certain types of oil based furniture
polishes, wood preservatives, or cleaning sprays may cause the rubber ‘feet’ to soften, and leave marks
or a rubber residue on the furniture.
To prevent any damage to your furniture we strongly recommend that you purchase small self-
adhesive felt pads, available at hardware stores and home improvement centers everywhere, and apply
these pads to the bottom of the rubber ‘feet’ before you place the product on fine wooden furniture.
DISPOSAL
•Dispose of all packaging, paper, cartons and plastic, plastic
bags in accordance with your local recycling regulations.
•At the end of the product’s lifespan please dispose of it at an
authorised household WEEE waste recycling centre.
