LIMITED WARRANTY
If you purchased this product new in the U.S. or Puerto Rico, CORTELCO warrants it
against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of
original purchase. his warranty is in lieu of all other express warranties. During the
warranty period, CORTELCO agrees to repair or, at its option, replace the defective
product, or any part of it without charge for parts or labor. his is your exclusive remedy.
his warranty does not cover damage resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, improper
installation or operation, lack of reasonable care, the affixing of any attachment not
provided by CORTELCO with the product and loss of parts. he warranty is voided in the
event any unauthorized person alters or repairs the unit. elephone companies use
different types of equipment and offer various types of services to customers.
CORTELCO does not warrant that this product is compatible with the type of
equipment of any particular phone company or the services provided by it.
CORTELCO DISCLAIMS ANY IMPLIED WARRAN Y, INCLUDING HE WARRAN Y

If failure occurs and your telephone is in warranty, service shall be provided by returning
it to CORTELCO - Repair Center, 1 03 Sawyer Road, Corinth, Mississippi 38834,
shipping prepaid. he product will be repaired or replaced if examination by us
determines the product to be defective. elephones received damaged as a result of
shipping will require you to file a claim with the carrier.

Quick Start Guide for 2740
4 Line Telephone System
he 2740 is a 4 Line 16 Station KSU-LESS System. It supports additional station modules for
External Paging, Music On Hold, and Door Phone w/Door Striker Control.
he 2740 comes factory-set for “COMMON-LINE” installation which is also called “Square” in
telephone terminology. his means all lines are common on all instruments. he 2740 can also
support private lines.
[ FOR CORRECT FUNCTION, LINE 1 MUST BE LINE 1 ON ALL STATIONS AND IT MUST NOT
HAVE LINE FILTERS INSTALLED. THIS MEANS THAT LINE 1 CANNOT BE A DSL OR VOIP
LINE]. he 2740 telephone also supports ype II caller ID (Caller ID on Call Waiting).
First, unpack the telephones and check the content of the boxes. Each box should contain:
1 elephone Base
1 elephone Handset
1 elephone Desk Stand
1 Power Supply
1 Handset Cord (Coiled Cord)
2 Line Cords
1 7” Line Cord for wall mounting.
1. Connect handset cord to front left of telephone base and to handset.
2. Plug line cord(s) into line connectors on bottom of telephone. Observe the marking for Lines
1&2 and Lines 3&4.
3. Plug power transformer into a non-switched electric outlet, then plug the connector into the
base.
4. After connecting power to the telephone a station number must be assigned. he first station
number is 01. he last station number is 16.
o reset the telephone to default settings, press MENU, then press MU E twice, then press 2741.
his will cause all programming to be lost including any Caller ID information or Memory Speed
Dials. he line buttons will start to flash and the display will show all of the assigned stations along
the top of the display. he display will show “Station #??” with a soft key labeled “Change”. Press
the “Change” soft key and the first available station number will appear flashing. Press “Menu” key
to save station number or press “Change” to go to next available station number.
he following menu tree is for your assistance in programming the telephone system. o start the
programming, press the MENU button and use the Up and Down Arrows to move in the menu with
the Soft Key to make selections. Please see User Guide for detailed instructions. You may
download a copy of the User Guide at www.cortelco.com.
