Part 68 is aFederal regulationwhich requiresequipment tobe testedand registered
withtheFCC priortoitsconnection tothenetwork. Thisequipment complies withPart
68of FCCrules. Onthe bottomof thetelephoneis alabel thatcontains,among other
information,theFCCRegistrationNumberandthe RingerEquivalenceNumber(REN)for
this equipment. You must, upon request, provide this information to your telephone
company.
TheRinger Equivalence Number, whichisusedto determinethenumberof devices
youmayconnecttoyourphoneline,indicatestheamountofpowerthat yourtelephone
draws from the telephone company line during ringing. If you have more than one
telephone (or other terminal device) connected to the telephone company line, you
shouldtotal theringer equivalence numbers (REN s),and besure thatthe totalis not
morethanfive.Yourtelephonesmaynot ringifthetotalismorethanfive.Also,insome
rurallocations,yourtelephone may notringiftheREN totalismorethanthree.
RESTRICTIONS Youmust notconnectyourtelephone tocoin-operatedlinesor party
lines.
INSTALLATION Thismodeltelephone mustbeconnectedtothetelephone company
linesthroughamodularjack.TherequiredUSOCforthemodularjackisRJ11Cfordesk
mountingandRJ11Wforwallmounting.TheUSOCnumberisprintedonthelabelonthe
bottomofyourtelephone.
HEARING-AID COMPATIBILITY The handsetonyour telephonewillwork withmag-
netically-coupledhearingaids.YoucanuseahearingaidequippedwithaT(Telephone)
switch.
INCASEOF TROUBLE Ifyourtelephoneshouldcauseproblemsonthetelephoneline,
thetelephonecompany cantemporarilydisconnect yourservice.The telephone com-
panymust thennotify andallow youtocorrect theproblem.
Thetelephonecompanymayfromtimetotimechangeitslinesorequipment.Theymust
notify you if planned changes will affect your telephone service, to allow you to take
stepsto preventinterruptions.
Part15regulatestheelectromagneticenergyemittedbyequipmenttominimizeinterfer-
encetoradio,television, andotherwirlessdevices. This telephonecomplieswithPart
15oftheFCCRules. Intheunlikelyeventthatinterferenceoccurs,movethetelephone
and/orradio,television, etc.toincrease the separationdistance.
