Youmustfirstinstallandchargethebatterytobeginsettingupyourphone.
1. Installthebattery.
l Hookyourfingernailintotheslotatthebottomofthebatterycoverandliftthecoveroff
gently.
l Insertthebattery,contactsendfirst,andgentlypressintoplace.

l Replacethecover,makingsureallthelockingtabsofthecoverareseatedwithnogaps.
Note: Whenyouinsertthebattery,yourphonemaypoweronautomatically.
2. Chargeyourbattery.
l PlugtheUSBconnectorintothecharger/accessoryjackonthelowerleftsideofyourphone.
l PlugtheACadapterintoanelectricaloutlet.
Note: Yourphone’sbatteryshouldhaveenoughchargeforthephonetoturnonandfindasignal,
setupvoicemail,andmakeacall.Youshouldfullychargethebatteryassoonaspossible.
3. Press toturnthephoneon.
l Ifyourphoneisactivated,itwillturnonandsearchforSprintservice.
l Ifyourphoneisnotyetactivated,seeActivateYourPhoneformoreinformation.
Activate Your Phone
Followtheinstructionsbelowtoactivateyourphoneifithasnotalreadybeenactivated.Depending
onyouraccountorhowandwhereyoupurchasedyourphone,itmaybereadytouseoryoumay
needtoactivateitonyourSprintaccount.
n IfyoupurchasedyourphoneataSprintStore,itisprobablyactivatedandreadytouse.
n IfyoureceivedyourphoneinthemailanditisforanewSprintaccountoranewlineofservice,it
isdesignedtoactivateautomatically.
l Whenyouturnthephoneonforthefirsttime,youshouldseeaHands Free Activation
screen,whichmaybefollowedbyaPRL UpdatescreenandaFirmware Updatescreen.
Followtheonscreeninstructionstocontinue.
n Ifyoureceivedyourphoneinthemailandyouareactivatinganewphoneforanexistingnumber
onyouraccount(you’reswappingphones),youcanactivateonyourcomputeronlineordirectly
onyourphone.
l Activate on your computer:
o Gotosprint.com/activateandcompletetheonlineinstructionstoactivateyourphone.
l Activate on your phone:

automaticallyattemptHands-FreeActivation.
o Ifanerroroccurs,pressACTIVATE(leftsoftkey)tooverrideauto-activationandstart

o Followtheon-screenpromptstocompletetheactivationprocess.
Toconfirmactivation,makeaphonecall.Ifyourphoneisstillnotactivated,visitsprint.com/support

Set Up Voicemail
YoushouldsetupyourVoicemailandpersonalgreetingassoonasyourphoneisactivated.Always
useapasswordtoprotectagainstunauthorizedaccess.Yourphoneautomaticallytransfersall
unansweredcallstoyourvoicemail,evenifyourphoneisinuseorturnedoff.
Note: Voicemail Password–Sprintstronglyrecommendsthatyoucreateapasswordwhen
settingupyourvoicemailtoprotectagainstunauthorizedaccess.Withoutapassword,anyonewho
hasaccesstoyourphoneisabletoaccessyourvoicemailmessages.

switchbetweenlowercaseanduppercase,pressthe key.Afteracharacterisentered,the
cursorautomaticallyadvancestothenextspaceaftertwosecondsorwhenyouenteracharacteron
adifferentkey.
