Remote Start&AuxiliaryOutput–Button Press Selection (Option #6):
Toeliminatethe possibilityofaccidentallyopening the trunkor starting the vehicle,there are (3) optionsfor button
press selection.Thisoption will allowyou tochange whether the Remotestarter and Trunkreleaseactivatebya:
1.Doublebutton -½second presses.
2.*Single½second press (Default).
3.Press and Hold2seconds.
*Default=1singlepress*
REMOTEENGINESTARTING -SUCCESSFULSTART:
1) Press the remotestart button for at least 1/2second (*default). Parking lightsflashonce, return solid,and the
Ignition/Acc circuitsturn on.
2) After afewsecondsthe Starter Motor engages.The parking lightsand Acc circuitswill turn off whilecranking.
3) Engine Startsand Runs. Parking Lightsand Acc turnsbackon, and the doorslock.
4) Engine will remainrunning for programmed run timeuntil resetwithBrakepedal.Ifneeded,the engine can be
turned off withremotetransmitter bypressing and releasing the Start button.

REMOTEENGINESTARTING -UNSUCCESSFULSTART
Inthe eventthatthe engine doesnotstarton the firstattempt, the systemshutsdownfor afewseconds,then
attemptstorestartthe engine a2nd and 3rd time.Forhardstartingengines,theunitwillallowastartercranktimeof
upto13secondsmaximum.Thisshouldprovideamplecrankingtimefordifficultstarts,butislimitedto13seconds
tohelpprevent damage tothe starter fromover cranking.
1) If engine startson 2nd or 3rd attempt, see steps4&5of "SuccessfulStart"on page 4.
2) IfThird attemptfailstostartengine,the systemwill turn off and doorswill remainlocked.NOFURTHER
ATTEMPTSWILL BE MADEAUTOMATICALLY
TURNING OFF AREMOTESTARTEDENGINE:
1) Engine isrunning inRemoteStart (Parking lightsON).
2) Press and releasethe remotestart button or doublepress (If option #6 ison).
3) Engine &parking lightsOFF, Doorsre-lock/re-arm.
ENTERING YOUR REMOTESTARTEDVEHICLE:
1) Withengine running, Unlocksystemwithremote(If equipped) or open door withkey.
2) Enter vehicleand be carefulnot tostep on brakepedal!(RemoteStart Reset)
3) Turn Ignition toON/RUN position, then press brakepedaltoreset the RemoteStarter &Shift out of park.
4) Remotestarter will resetinstantlywhen the brakeispressed.Parking lightswill turn off and the ignition keyis
nowcontrolling your vehicle.
REMOTESTART RUN TIMERESET:
You can nowreset the engine-run timer toallowfor more running timeafter remotestart hasalreadyoccurred
using the remotecontrol. After asuccessfulremotestart, press boththe Lock&Unlockbuttonstogether for at
least 2seconds. The parking lightswill flash3timesand internalengine timer will reset backtozero minutes.

REMOTEENGINECONTROL
IDLEDOWNMODE:
Thismodeallowstheunittotakeoveroperationoftheparkedvehiclewhiletheignitionkeyisremovedandyouexit
the vehicle.The vehicleisputintoaremoterunning condition before you exitand itwill remainrunning for the
programmed run timeor until you comeback.
Examples:
•You pull up toaconveniencestore for aquick stop,"IdleDown"mode keepsengine running when you exitthe
vehicle,(withkeysinhand)remotelockdoorsorarmalarm.Whenyoureturn,unlock,turnignitionONanddrive
away.
IDLEDOWNMODE-EXITING THEVEHICLE:
1) Withvehicleengine running withkey, press the RemoteStart button for at least one second or twiceif set for
Doublepress.
2) Parking Lightswill turn ON.
3) Doorswill unlock, or if brakepedalisbeing depressed, doorswill unlockwhen it isreleased.
4) Turn OFF Ignition and removekey. Engine shouldremainrunning.
5) Exit vehiclethen remotelockdoorsif desired.
6) Engine will remainrunning for programmed run timeor until you return (whichever comesfirst).

REMOTEENGINECONTROL
INFINITYRUN MODE
Thismode can onlybe activated with"IdleDown"procedure.The InfinityRun mode allowsthe vehicleengine to
remainrunning INDEFINITELYafter the programmed run timeelapses.Thismode will allowthe vehicletobe left
running and unattended without the ignition keyinthe switchpreventing the vehiclefrombeing stolen.Thismode
canbebeneficialtolawenforcementorcommercialtrucksthatneedtoremainrunningunattendedforlongperiods
of time.
INFINITYRUN MODE–EXITING THEVEHICLE:
1) Withvehicleengine running withthe key,press the RemoteStartbutton for atleast1second,pauseafew
seconds, then press and releasethe remotestart button asecond time.
2) Parking Lightswill start flashing, and doorswill unlock.
3) Turn Ignition switchOFF, removekeyand exit the vehicle. Engine shouldremainrunning.
4) Thevehicle’sparkinglightswillflashfortheprogrammedruntimeof12,24,or36,or48minutesandthenswitch
tosolidwhilemotor runsindefinitelyor until fuelsupplyrunsout.
SELECTABLEHOURLYCOLD-STARTMODE(1-4 HOURS)
Thismode allowsthe vehicletobe programmed toself-startevery1,2,3or 4hoursand run for the programmed
run time. Thiscan be helpfulduring extremelycoldconditionswhere engine fluidfreeze-up isaconcern.
THEVEHICLEMUSTBEOUTDOORSORINAWELL VENTILATEDAREA! Oncethismodeisset,theunitwill
startatthe programmed hourlyintervaland run for the programmed run time.Toresetthismode,either startthe
vehiclewiththe keyor the remotecontrol.
SELECTABLEHOURLYCOLD-STARTMODE–EXITING THEVEHICLE:
1) Engine shouldbe running withthe Key.Press the RemoteStartbutton for atleast1second.Lightswill turn on
signaling the remotestart hasturned on and doorswill unlock.
2) Within10 secondspress and releasethe valet/programbutton oncefor eachhourlyincrement(1 time=1hour,
2X=2hours, 3X=every3hours, 4X=every4hours).
3) Parking Lightswill turn ONwhen the button ispressed and flashoncefor eachconsecutivebutton press.
4) Turn Ignition switchOFF, removekeyand exit the vehicle. Engine shouldremainrunning.
5) Onceoutside the vehicle,press and releasethe remotestartbutton toturn off engine.The parking lightswill
flashthe number of timesindicating the hourlyincrement for confirmation. The vehiclewill startbyitselfatthe
selected hourlyincrement until driven withkeyor started viathe remotecontrol.

TURBOTIMERMODE(OPTION#22)
The optionalTurbo Timer mode allowsthe CoolStartsystemtokeep aTurbo or Turbo Dieselvehiclerunning for 1
to5minutes[selectively]after you removethe keyand exitthe vehicle.Thisishandyfor turbo cool-downwithout
the need forexpensiveturbotimers.Thismoderequirestheuseofanextrapartcalledamomentaryswitch/button
that isnot included withthe kit. There are (3) modesof operation for the Turbo Timer Mode
1. Brake PedalSet Mode.Withthe engine running bykey, press Remote StartButton withbrake pedal
depressed. Asyou releasethe brakepedal,the Parking Lightsand StatusLEDwill blinkthe number of
minutesfor the Turbo Timer setting. The doorsunlockafter confirmation. The run timecan be changed by
using the pushbutton switchattached tothe green start activation wire (see AlwaysSet Mode).
2. Always Set Mode(default). The Turbo Timer Run Timemust alwaysbe set. Withbrakepedaldepressed
and engine running bykey,Press the “Turbo Timer” button 1to5timesfor eachminuteofrun timeyou
desire.(1 press =1min.)Asyou releasethe brakepedal,your systemwill confirmbyflashing the lightsthe
samenumberoftimesthebuttonwaspressed.Thedoorsunlockafterconfirmation.TurnIgnitionswitchOFF,
removekeyand exit the vehicle.
3. IdleDownMode. Thisreplacesthe normalIdleDownMode.Can’tuseInfinityRun or ManualTransmission
Modewiththisoption.Withtheenginerunning bykey,press theRemoteStartButton. TheParkingLights
and StatusLEDwill blinkthe number ofminutesfor the Turbo Timer setting.The doorsunlockafter
confirmation.The run timecan be changed byusing the pushbutton switchattached tothe green start
activation wire (see AlwaysSet Mode).
Note: Mode 1and 3,the run timer (1 to5min.)isset one time. The systemalwaysremembersthe Turbo Timer
setting even withbatterydisconnection.

CONVENIENCEAND SAFETYFEATURES
KEYLESS ENTRY(POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL, Optional)
Thissystem enables youto remotelylock andunlock thevehicle’s doors (ifequipped withpower locks) viaremote control
for safety andconvenience. Note: This feature may require extra labor and/or parts to install. Press the Lock or Unlock
transmitter buttonas youleave or come near thevehicle. Parkinglights will flashonce for lock andtwice for unlock. If
vehicle is running by the remote start system, the lights will flash, but returnback to solid.
AUTO LOCK/UNLOCK (Option # 2)
TheAuto Lock feature controlswhether thedoors will automaticallylock/unlock onyourvehiclewhendrivingorwithturning
theIgnitionON/OFF. If theAuto Lock feature isturned on,andyoursystem isin“Tach”mode, thenthedoors should
automaticallylock as theengineRPM’s increase (driving). If theAuto Lock feature isturned on,andyoursystem isin
“Smart Tachless” mode, thenthedoors will lock afew seconds after theIgnitionisturnedon.WhentheAuto Lockfeature is
turned on,thesystem will always unlock thedoors whentheIgnitionisturned off. Withthisfeature turned OFF,thesystem
will not automatically lock or unlock the vehicle. See your installer for programming informationonthis feature.
DOOR LOCK NOTE: If your systemhas been setup with an optional starter kill relay,but youdo nothave powerdoor locks,
note the following: The lock and unlock buttons on the remote control must still be utilized to operate the Starter disable.
REMOTE PANIC (Optional)
For personalsafety thisunitnow includes apanicfeature. To soundthevehiclecar horn,press theLock Buttononthe
remote for more than2seconds. Thevehiclehornwill honkalongwithflashingparkinglamps for 1minute. Reset Remote
Panic by pressing either the lock or unlock button. See next sectionfor HornHonk information.
HORN CHIRP/HONK OUTPUT(Option # 7 & 13)
Thisfeature, ifinstalled, will provide audibleconfirmationchirps from thefactory hornfor lock andunlock. Whenusingthis
feature, pressingtheLock or Unlock buttona2nd time within3seconds or once (programmableoption)will provide ahorn
chirp for audibleconfirmation.Thesystem canalso be programmed to provide 3chirps whenaremote start isrequested
using the remote. Note: Hornhonk/chirp feature may require extra labor and/or parts to install.
REMOTE TRUNK RELEASE OR DOMELIGHTILLUMINATION (Optional) Applies to RS-4
ThisCoolStart system includes anoutputthat canbe programmed to remotelyrelease afactory electronictrunkor
illuminate theinterior lightwhenyouunlock yourvehiclefor lighted entry at night. If youhave theoptionaltrunkpop
installed, simplypress andrelease theTrunkButton#3 onthetransmitter or ifoption#6isturnedonyoumust pressButton
# 3 twice within3 seconds, to remotely opentrunk. If your system isprogrammed for Dome Lightillumination,then itwill
work automaticallylightingthedome lightfor 30 seconds whenyouunlock yourvehicleviatheremote. Thedome lightwill
turnoff after 30 seconds, or turningthekey on(whichever comes first). ThetrunkPop or Dome LightIlluminationmay
require extra labor and/or parts to install.

CONVENIENCEAND SAFETYFEATURES
VALETMODE/ REMOTESTARTDISABLE(Requires Installation ofValet Switch)
Before servicing your vehicleor handing the keysover toaValetwerecommend putting the unitintoValetMode.
The remotestartfunction WILL NOToperatewhen inValetMode.Toenter Valetmode,turn the keytothe ON
position, press and holdProgram/Valet switchfor 5-6 seconds. The LEDwill turn on solidwhen the systemisin
ValetMode.ToexitValetMode,performthisprocedureagain.Thekeylessentrywillstillfunctionnormallywhilein
ValetMode.Inthe eventofalostor broken transmitter,performthisstep tooverride the Starter Disable(if
installed).
ANTI-GRIND / STARTERDISABLE(Optional, relaynotincluded)
ThisOptionalfeature preventsthe user fromaccidentallygrinding the starter ifthe Ignition keyisturned too far to
the startposition whileengine isalreadyrunning fromthe remotestarter.The Anti-Grind/Starter Disablerequires
the useof an externalrelay. Thissystemmust be programmed toallowthe relaytoworkasastarter disable.
HOODOPENSAFETY(Requires hood pinswitch)
Preventsthe engine frombeing RemoteStarted when hood isopen.Eliminatesriskofinjurytosomeone working
under the hood ofthe vehiclewithaproperlyworking hood pininstalled.The hood can be opened after a
successfulRemoteStart, butnotbefore.IfRemoteStartbutton ispressed withthe hood open,the lightswill flash
onceand the unit will not attempt astart.
BRAKEPEDALRESET
Preventsstarting or shutsoff aremotestarted vehiclewhen thiscircuitisactive.Preventsunauthorized driving of
vehicle.Thiscircuitshutsthe systemdownimmediatelywhen brakepedalispressed.Turn the ignition keytothe
“ON”position before the brakepedalispressed.
OEMALARMINTERFACE(Mayrequireoptional DatabusModule)
Thisfeature isdesigned toDisarmandRe-armFactoryequippedsecuritysystemsinconjunctionwithremotestart
and keyless entry(if needed for your vehicle). Thisfeature will maintainthe originalintegrityand securityofyour
vehicle’sfactoryequippedsystemsbefore,during,orafterremotestart.SomevehiclesrequireanoptionalDatabus
moduletooperateafactoryalarmor keyless entry.
NOTE: When changing, charging, or jumpstarting the vehicle’sbatterywerecommend removing the mainpower
fuseslocated on the heavy gauge REDwiresnear the remotestart module.

TRANSMITTERPROGRAMMING
Note: All transmittercodes must belearnedat timeofprogramming!! TheRS-4 learnsup to4different
transmittercodes.
1.Turn keytothe ONposition. (Pinkwire must be connected.)
2.Press Programming button 4times, then after afewsecondsthe unit flashesthe parking lights4times.
3.Press button #1 ofthe transmitter tobe coded.You shouldget2lightflashesindicating the unitiswaiting for a
2nd code,then press button #1 ofasecond transmitter,the unitwill flash3timesindicating itswaiting for the 3rd
codeandsoon.Ifall4codesarelearned,theunitwillautomaticallyexitcodelearningmode,otherwiseturnkey
off. See diagrambelow.

AsingleRemoteControlcan controltwodifferent vehicles.
SETUP:
Followthe“TransmitterProgramming”stepsonthesecondvehiclebelow.ProgramCar#2’sexistingremotes,then
quicklypress the Car #2 sidebuttononyourremotebeforepressingthelockbuttononyourremotetoprogramitto
Car #2.Onceyour remoteisprogrammed tothe second vehicle,press the car #2 side button on your remotefirst,
andwithin3secondspressanyofthe4functionbuttonsonyourremote.Youcankeeppressingfunctionbuttonsto
controlcar #2 aslong asitiswithinthe 3-second window.After 3secondshaveelapsed,the remotewill revert
backtoCar #1 control.

NOFACTORYKEYLESS ENTRYAFTERREMOTESTART
MostnewcarsDoNotallowthefactoryRemoteKeylessEntrytofunctionwiththeIgnitionON.Thismeansyoucan’t
usethe factoryremotetolockor unlockthe doors.After remotestartyou havetousethe keystounlockthe door.
Also,manynewvehiclesunlockthe doorswhendisarmingthefactoryalarm.Thisleavesthedoorsunlockedwhile
RemoteStarted. Toresolvethisproblem,haveyour installer connectthe door lockstothe RemoteStartKeyless
Entry. The RemoteStarter withRe-Lockthe doorsafter remotestarting.
Model RS-3 and RS-4
When you return toaremotestarted vehicle, just press the Unlockbutton on the remotecontrol.
Note: Thereare3Remote StartOptions(see page4).Theoptionsare: 1/2second press (Default),2second
press orDoublebutton press.
REMOTESTART DIAGNOSTICS
Ifthesystemflashes theparking lights onetothree times and doesn’tattemptremote,itmeansthe
following:
1Parking LightFlash=ProblemwithBrake Switch.
2Parking LightFlashes =ProblemwithHood Switch.
3Parking LightFlashes =Valet Service Mode(see page11).
7Parking LightFlashes =Manual Transmission Error.
Besure totell your installer the Diagnosticcode when taking vehicleinfor service
SYSTEMISUNSUCCESSFULATREMOTESTARTDURING EXTREMECOLDCONDITIONS:
Pleasebeawarethatduringsub-freezingconditionsyourremotestartermaytakemorethatoneattempttostart,or
itmaynotsuccessfullystartthevehicleafter3attempts.Duringtheseconditionsthevehiclemaynotproperlystart
even using the key, therefore trying tostart bythe remotewouldalsobe unsuccessful.

BATTERYREPLACEMENT
To replace thebattery: Simplyremovethe3screwsonbackofthetransmitterandopenthecase.Removethe
batteryand replace. The replacement batteryisGP23A.

2-WayDATAPORT
Somevehiclesrequire aDatabusModuletoBypass the factoryImmobilizer and operatethe keyless entry
Databusmodulesare used tocommunicatewiththe vehiclescomputer at the OBD2Dataconnector or Canbus
wires. Thisreducesinstallation error. Crimestopper SystemswithDPSerieshaveadirect DataPort Plug-Infor
the Databusbypass module. Thiseliminatesconventionalwiring between the Alarm/RemoteStarter and the
bypass interfacemodule.
