THEREMOTECONTROLS
1-WAY-SIDEKICKREMOTE:
The 1-Waysidekickremoteaddsflexibilitytoyoursystem.Youcanhavetheconvenienceofoperatingyour
systemwithoutneedingtocarrythelarger pager remote.The Sidekickremotehasless range and offersall of
the sameoperation featuresexceptforpage-backconfirmation.The 1-WaySidekickRemoteusestwoCR-
2016Lithium3VoltBatteries.
2-WAY-PAGER/ REMOTETRANSCEIVER:
The 2-Wayhand-heldremotetransceiver isusedtosendandreceiveinformationfromthe vehicle.The
ControlModuletransmitsHighFrequencyFMsignalsfromthevehicletoyourpager overlong distances.Your
range will varydependingonlocation,terrain,andlocalRFnoise/interference.Thissystemisnotguaranteed
topageyouifyouarebehindconcretewalls,underground,inalargestructure,orinanareawithhigh levels
ofelectronicinterference.Handlethe pager/remotewithcare.The LCD displayand/orthe electronics maybe
damaged ifsubjectedtoabuse.TheAAA Cell 1.5Valkalinebatterycaneasilybe replaced bysliding openthe
batteryaccess dooronthebackofthe remote.Batterylifewill varydepending onusage.TheLCD screen
will displayalowbatteryiconwhenthebatteryislow.
SETTINGTHECLOCK (2-WAY- LCD REMOTE)
1.Press VEHButton on thesideoftheremotecontrol5times.
2.The remotewill beepandthe AMorPM displaywill beginflashing.
3.Press theTrunkButtontogotothenext item –AM-PM-Hour-Minutes.
4.Press theLockButtonto increase time.
5.Press theUnlockButtonto decrease time.
6.Press theStart Buttonto DisableorEnableBeep.
7.Press theVEHButtonto ExitSetup orwait 7seconds, the LCD light will turn off.

OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS-ALARM
Arming / Locking:
Press theLock Buttonontheremote control.TheSystem will arm emitonesirenchirp, onelightflash,andtheLED
willbeginto flash.Powerlocks willlock (ifequipped). Starter disablecircuitwillturnon. The2-Way LCD Pager will
beep once whiledisplayingaLockingsymbol.After ashort delay to allow thevehicleandelectronics to settle, the
system willbe completely armed.
Disarming:/ Unlocking
Press theUnlock Buttonontheremote control.TheSystem will disarm andconfirm withtwo sirenchirps, two light
flashes, andtheLED willturnoff. Powerlocks willunlock andInterior Dome lightwillturnon(ifinstalled withthese
optionalfeatures). The 2-Way LCD Pager willbeep twice while displaying anUnlock symbol.
Alarm Triggers:
If there isanintrusioninto thevehicle, ahard impact to thebody or theignitionisturned on,thealarm willsoundand
flashthelights for 1minute.After 1minute,thetrigger cyclewill automaticallystop andalarm willremainarmedto
continueprotectingthevehicle. If a door isleft openafter anintrusion thentheunitwill cycleamaximumof 2minutes
and continue to protect the other un-tampered or unopenedzones.
LCD Remote Paging/ ZoneViolations:
Whenthe system is triggered, the alarm sends a paging signalto the remote. If you are withinrange, youwillreceive
a paging signalthat willlightup the LCD Screen Red. The display willshow aniconof what caused the violation. The
paging remote willalso vibrate and beeptonotify you the vehicle has beentampered with.
Disarming WhileTripped(Triggered):
Disarmingthe Systemwhileitistriggering requiresTWOpressesofthe Unlock Button.The firstpress Resets
the alarmcycleonly(systemstill armed)whileasecondpress will disarm/unlockthe system.
Selective SilentArming / Disarming:
ToArmorDisarmthesystemwithoutsirenchirps,pressand releaseboththeUnlockandStartButtonatthe
sametime.TheSystemwill Armor Disarmwithoutsiren chirps.FlashinglightsandLEDwill be theonly
indicatorsofArm/Disarmstatus.The LCD will Displayamusicalnotewithan “Ø”when the systemisarmed or
disarmedwithoutachirp

PriorintrusionAlert
Thissystemwill notifyyouifthealarmwastriggeredwhileyouwereaway.Upon disarming,there will befour
additionalsiren chirpsafterthetwonormaldisarmchirps.Checkyour vehicleforanysignsofabreakinor
tampering. Also, seeLEDDiagnostics (page 15)todetermine thecauseof thetrigger.
RemotePanicProtection
Tosoundthealarminan emergencysituation ortodrawattention toyour vehicle,press and holdthe Lock
button for atleast3secondsuntil thesiren /horn sounds.Press the Unlockbuttontoresetpanicmode.The
LCD displaywill flashmost oftheiconsandemit10 beepswhenthe PanicMode istriggered.
Selective Shock SensorDisable
Toarmthe alarmandbypass shocksensor protection,presstheLockButton asnormalthenpress and
releasetheLock&UnlockButton togetherwithin2seconds.Youwill hear 3extrasirenchirpsindicating the
shocksensor bypass for thisarming cycleonly.Thisisfeature usefulwhenparking nearrailroadtracks,
airports,orareaswithexcessiveloudmachineryor noisetopreventthenuisanceofunnecessaryfalse
alarms.
OpenDoorAlert/ Bypass
Upon arming,thissystemwill warn you 60 secondslaterifadoor isleft open.The LCD pagerwill vibrateand
beep(5X’s)along withdisplayingthe openzoneonyour LCD screen.Thiszonewill bebypasseduntil the
doorisclosed;otherwise, thealarmwillcontinuetoprotectall otherzones.
Pre-WarningShock Protection
The Pre-Warning (Warn-A-Way)featurewill activatewhenalow-levelshockor vibration isdetected bythe
system’sshocksensor.The alarmwill chirp the siren 5timesandflashthelightsoncetohelpdeterany
furthertampering withthevehicle.Thepager/ remotewill beepand showaHammer Icon.
Passive ArmingMode:(Programmable)
Passive(automatic)Armingoccurs30 secondsafterthe ignition isturned off andthelastdoor isclosed.
Uponclosingthelastdoor,theunitwill flashthelightstwiceand LEDwillbeflashingrapidlytoconfirmpassive
countdown.Ifadoorisreopenedwithinthe30-secondperiod,thecountdownstopsandbeginsagainwhen
the door isclosed.Passivearmingprovidesfailsafeprotectionincaseyouforget toarmthesystem.

Passive Locking:(Programmable)
The systemcan beprogrammed topassivelylockthe doorswhen the systempassivelyarms.The default
settingisOFFbecausepassivelockingincreasestheriskoflocking the keysinthe vehiclewhenthesystem
arms/lockspassively,withoutyoupressing the remote.
Trunk/HatchPop(Optional, Remote AUX.Output1)
Thisfeatureisdesigned tointerfacewithexisting Factorypower trunkor power hatchreleasesystemsand
mayrequire additionalpartsand/orlaborcharges.Toeliminatethepossibilityofaccidentallyopeningthe
trunk,there are (3) optionsfor button press selection.Thisoptionwill allowyou tochange whether theRemote
starter andTrunkreleaseactivatebya:
1.Doublebutton ½secondpresses.
2.Single½second press.
3.Press andHold2seconds.

DomeLightIllumination (Optional)
Thisfeaturewill turnonthe vehicle’sdomelightupondisarmingfor30secondsoruntil the keyisinsertedand
turnedon. Thiswill provide illuminated entrytoyour vehicleindimlylitareasforsafetyandsecurity.
EmergencyOverride(Disarm)
Ifyou havelostthetransmitter or itstopsworking for anyreason andtheAlarmisarmed,youwill haveto
disarmthe systemmanually.Open thedoorwiththekey[alarmwill sound], turn the ignitionon,and press the
override/programbutton for about5seconds.TheAlarmwill disarmand allowyoutousethe vehicleuntil you
can repair/replacethe remote. ValetmodealsopreventsPassiveArming.
ValetMode(Entermanuallyorusing theremote)
TodisableAlarmand RemoteEngineStarting for vehicleservicing the alarmsystemmustbedisarmed. To
ActivateValetMode: Turn theignitiononandpresstheoverride/programbutton [about5-6seconds]until
youhear (3)siren chirpsand theLEDturnsonsolid.Repeat theprocess toexit VALETmode.Toenter /exit
Valetviathe remote,press and holdboththe LockandUnlockButton togetherfor about3secondsuntil 3
chirpsareheard.Repeatthissteptoexitviatheremotetransmitter.Lock/Unlockand AUXfeatureswill still
operateinVALETModehowever,RemoteStartand Alarmfunctionsareinhibited.
ValetParkMode(Using theremotetransmitteronly)
ValetParkMode allowsyou toturnover the vehicletoaValetallowingaccesstodrive/lock/unlockyour
vehicle,butalarmwill triggerifthe trunkisopened. To ActivateValetPark: The alarmsystemmustbe
disarmed.Press andholdboththe Lockand Unlockbuttonstogetherfor about3seconds,3chirpswill be
heard firstwhen unitgoesintoregularValet. Release,press andholdbothbuttonsagain,youwill hear2more
chirps.The LEDwill alwaysflashslowlywhen inValetParkevenwhentheIgnition isturned on (or driving
vehicle).Repeat step abovetoexit Valet ParkMode.

be turnedoffwithremotetransmitter.
REMOTEENGINESTARTING –LCDPAGER-REMOTE:
When requestingaremotestart the LCDpagerremotewill confirmwithanIgnition Iconalongwith3beeps.
Oncethevehiclehassuccessfullystarted theremotewill confirmbackwith1vibration, amovingvehicleIcon,
and6beeps.

UNSUCCESSFULREMOTESTART
Inthe eventthatthe enginedoesnotstartonthe firstattempt, thesystemshutsdownforafewseconds,then
attemptstorestarttheenginea2nd and3rd time.For hard starting engines,the unitwill allowastarter crank
timeofup to13secondsmaximum.Thisshouldprovide amplecranking timefor difficultstarts,butislimited to
13 secondstohelppreventdamagetothe starterfromover cranking.
1)Ifenginestartson2nd or 3rd attempt, seesteps4&5(onlastpage) under"SuccessfulStart".
2)IfThirdattemptfailstostartengine,thesystemwill turnoff and doorswill remainlocked.NOFURTHER
ATTEMPTSWILL BE MADEAUTOMATICALLYUNLESS YOUPRESS THEREMOTESTARTBUTTON
AGAIN.
TURNING OFFYOUR REMOTESTARTEDENGINE(VIAREMOTECONTROL):
1)EngineisrunninginRemoteStart(Parking lightsON).
2)Press RemoteStartbutton onremotetransmitter.
3)Engine&parking lightsturn OFF,Doorsremainlockedorwill re-lockif applicable.
ENGINE& LIGHTSOFF

ENTERINGYOUR REMOTESTARTEDVEHICLE:
1)Withengine running, RemoteUnlock/Disarmsystem(If armed)oropendoorwithkey.
2)Entervehicleandbecarefulnottostep on brakepedal!(RemoteStart Reset)
3)Turn Ignition toON/RUNposition, thenpressbrakepedaltoresettheRemoteStarter &Shift outofpark.
4)Remotestarter will resetinstantlywhenthe brakeispressed.Parking lightswill turn off and theignition key
isnowcontrollingyour vehicle.

IDLEDOWNMODE(TAKE-OVEROPERATION)
Thismode allowsthe unittotakeover operationofyour idling,parked vehiclewhiletheignition keyis
removedandyouexitthe vehicle. Thevehicleisputintoaremoterunningconditionbeforeyouexitanditwill
remainrunning fortheprogrammedruntime, until youreturn, oruntil theremotestartbuttonispressed.
Example:
You pull uptoaconveniencestoreforaquick stop,"IdleDown"modekeepsenginerunningwhen you
exitthevehicle,(withkeysinhand)remotelock/armalarm.Whenyoureturn,unlock/disarmalarm,turn
ignitionONand driveaway.Thismodecan alsobeused on Turbovehiclesthat need idleforcool-down.
IDLEDOWNMODE-EXITINGTHEVEHICLE:
1)Withenginerunning,pressRemoteStartbuttonon remotetransmitter.Sirenwill chirp3timesfor
confirmation.
2)Parking Lightswill turnON.
3)Doorswill unlock, orifbrakepedalisbeing depressedthendoorswill unlockwhenit isreleased.
4)Turn OFFIgnition andremovekey.Engine shouldremainrunning.
5)Exitvehicle,thenremotelockdoorsifdesired.
6)Enginewill remainrunning forprogrammed run time, until youreturn, orpressthe remotestartbutton.
INFINITYRUNMODE
Thismode allowsthevehicle’sengine toremainrunning INDEFINITELY. Thismode canbebeneficialtolaw
enforcementvehiclesor commercialvehiclesthat needtoremainrunningunattendedforlong periodsoftime.
INFINITYRUNMODE–EXITINGTHEVEHICLE:
1)Followstepsfor “IDLEDOWNMODE-EXITINGTHEVEHICLE”(above),exceptpresstheremotestart
button asecond time within10secondsat STEP #1.
2)Parking Lightswill startflashinginsteadof coming on solid, and doorswillunlock.
3)Turn Ignition switchOFF,removekeyand exit the vehicle. Engineshouldremainrunning.
4)The vehicle’sparkinglightswillflashforthe programmed runtime of12,24,or36,or48minutesand then
switchtosolidwhilemotorrunsindefinitelyoruntil fuelsupplyrunsout.

Thismodeallowsthevehicletobeprogrammed toself-startevery4hoursandrun forthe programmedrun
time.Thiscan behelpfulduringextremelycoldconditionswhereengineorfluidfreeze-up isaconcern. !!THE
VEHICLEMUSTBE OUTDOORSORINAWELL VENILATEDAREA!!
TIMEDSELF-STARTMODE–EXITING THEVEHICLE:
1)Haveenginerunning withtheKey,thenpress the Startbuttononthe transmitter.
2)Within10 secondspressthevalet/programbuttononce.
3)Parking Lightswill turnOFFforabout 5seconds, and doorswill unlock.
4)Turn Ignition switchOFF,removekeyand exit the vehicle. Engineshouldremainrunning.
5)Press the remotestartbuttonagaintoturn off the engine.The parkinglightswill flash4TIMES asa
confirmationthattheunit isinTimed Self-StartMode.
6)The Vehiclewill Start byitselfevery4hours, oruntil driven withkeyor startedviaremotecontrol.

Thisfeature providesActiveCarjackprotection throughtheremotecontrol.When the Ignitionison (vehicleis
running),pressandholdthe #1LOCKButtonand#3TRUNKButtonfor2seconds.Theparkinglightswill
flash2timesand the LEDwill begintoflashrapidlytoconfirmthe beginningofaCarjackcountdown.30
Secondslater,theunitwill beginaCarjackCycleconsistingof 20secondsofpre-warning chirpsturningintoa
full systemactivationwithsiren/flashing lightpulsesforup to5min.IftheIgnitionisturned off during a
Carjacktrigger thesiren and lightsstop butCarjackprotectionisstill active.The Siren and Lightswill resume
ifthe Carjacker triestoturn the Ignition backON.TORESET:Press Button #2(UNLOCK)ontheremoteand
the sirenwill chirponce,orturn thekeyon andpressandholdtheoverridebutton forat least 5seconds.
SWITCH-CONTROLLED&FULLTIMECARJACK (PINK WIRECONFIGURATION)
ThisfeaturecanprovidePassiveorManualcontrolCarjackprotection depending on the configuration ofthe

HIDDENSWITCH-CONTROLLEDCARJACK:
Thisconfigurationwill enablethe vehicleownertoactivateaCarjackcountdownbypressingahiddenpush-
button(notincludedwithkit)duringaCarjacksituation.ACarjackcountdownwill beginunderthefollowing
conditions:IgnitionisON(vehicleisrunning),the push-button ispressed,andthe door opens/closes.Upon
these3events, inthatorder,thealarmwill startaCarjackcountdown.Afteradelayofone minute, thesystem
will beginchirping for 20 secondsthen trigger intoafull cycleforupto5minutes.ToresetthisCarjackmode,
Ignition must beONthen press andholdtheoverride/valetbuttonfor5seconds(until LEDgoesout.)
FULL-TIME[Permanent] CARJACK:
Werecommend thatthisconfigurationonlybe used ifaseriousthreatofCarjackexistsduringeveryday
situations.When the Ignition ison(vehicleisrunning),anytimeadoor isopened,the Carjackcountdown
sequencewill beinitiated.Therewill be2lightflashesand the LEDwill change fromsolidtoquickpulsing as
confirmationofacountdownsequence.ToresetFULLTIMECarjack,the Ignition hastobeON,thenpress
and holdtheoverride/programbutton5secondsuntil LEDstopspulsing.TheLEDwill be onSOLIDwhen in
thismodeanytimetheIgnitionisON(orwhiledriving) asareminderthatCarjackiswaitingforadoor toopen.

LEDDIAGNOSTICS
The SP-500systemincludesdisarmdiagnostics,throughtheBLUELEDlight, thatwill helpindetermining
whatcausedthelasttriggerofthealarm system.Thisisavaluabletoolindetermininghowthevehiclewas
tampered withor ifthereisafalsealarm probleminwhichcaseyoucanmakethe necessaryadjustmentsto
correctthe problem.When the systemisdisarmedwiththeremoteyouwill hear the normal2chirps,then 4
quickchirpsthatindicatethealarmwastriggered whileyouwere away.Checkthe LEDlightfor asequence
of flashes:
Shock Sensor=1Flash Door=2Flashes Hood/Trunk=3Flashes Ignition=4Flashes
Diagnosticswill resetwhen theIgnitionisturnedonorwhenthesystemisre-armed.
REMOTESTART DIAGNOSTICS
Ifthesystemflashestheparkinglightsonetothreetimesanddoesn’t attempt remote, it meansthefollowing:

OPTIONAL TURBOTIMERMODE
The optionalTurbo Timer mode allowsthe CoolStartsystemtokeep aTurbo or Turbo Dieselvehiclerunning
for 1to5minutes[selectively]after you removethe keyandexitthe vehicle.Thisishandyfor turbocool-
downwithouttheneedforexpensiveturbotimers.Thismode requirestheuseofanextra partcalled a
momentaryswitch/buttonthatisnotincludedwiththe kit. There are(3)modesofoperation for theTurbo
Timer Mode
1. Brake PedalSet Mode. Withthe enginerunning bykey, press Remote StartButtonwithbrake pedal
depressed. Asyoureleasethebrakepedal,theParking LightsandStatusLEDwill blinkthenumberof
minutesfortheTurboTimer setting.The doorsunlockafterconfirmation.Therun timecanbe changed
byusing thepushbuttonswitchattachedtothegreen start activation wire(see AlwaysSet Mode).
2. Always SetMode(default).TheTurboTimerRunTimemustalwaysbe set.Withbrakepedal
depressed and enginerunning bykey,Press the “TurboTimer” button 1to5timesfor eachminuteof
run timeyou desire.(1 press =1min.)Asyoureleasethebrakepedal,your systemwill confirmby
flashing the lightsthe samenumberoftimesthe buttonwaspressed.The doorsunlockafter
confirmation. Turn Ignition switchOFF,removekeyand exit the vehicle.
3. IdleDownMode. ThisreplacesthenormalIdleDownMode.Can’tuseInfinityRunorManual
TransmissionModewiththisoption. Withtheenginerunningbykey,presstheRemoteStart
Button. TheParking LightsandStatusLEDwill blinkthenumberofminutesfor theTurboTimersetting.
The doorsunlockafterconfirmation.The runtimecanbechangedbyusing thepushbutton switch
attachedtothegreen startactivationwire (seeAlwaysSetMode).
Note: Mode1and3,the runtimer (1to5min.)issetone time.Thesystem alwaysrememberstheTurbo
Timer setting evenwithbatterydisconnection.
