Warnings

Leak test all fittings when using hazardous or flammable gases.
Do not use above 14 bar (200psi).
Do not open filter cartridge, even after use!
Special precautions might be required when using hydrogen or other hazardous
gasses. Consult local regulations and your company’s safety procedures.
Do not use to remove more than 50ppm of oxygen! Rapid heating of the oxygen
adsorbent will occur – and very high temperatures can result.
Limits: Temperature 15ºC to 35ºC
Pressure 0.75 to 14 bar
Gas Supply Inert gas or Hydrogen with < 50ppm O2, H2O and Hydrocarbons
Flow Rate < 2 L/min

Filter Setup and Use
1. Check the package contents for damage. Contact your supplier if any items are damaged or
missing.
2. The ZPure filter is delivered in the active state, filled with helium. It is ready for use, but it is
recommended that the trap be purged with the gas to be purified.
3. For the best connections, start with freshly-cut tubing in the gas line. 1/8” nuts should be turned
3/4 turn past finger tight. 1/4” nuts should be turned 1-1/4 turns past finger tight.
4. To connect in-line, first purge the gas line with the supply gas. While maintaining a low purge rate
of 10 to 30 cc/min, remove the end plugs from both ends of the oxygen trap, then attach the inlet
end of the trap to the gas line.
While the end plugs are removed from the trap during installation, a small amount of air will
diffuse into the adsorbent, and the trap may warm slightly. As long as the trap is attached to the
gas line within a few minutes, trap heating and the loss of adsorbing capacity will be negligible.
5. Attach the outlet end of the trap to the instrument, then continue purging the entire system until a
total of 1 to 2 liters of gas has been flushed through.
6. Leak check all connections.
Exchanging a Filter for a Reconditioned Filter
1. ZPure Dual filters must be shipped as hazardous goods with the following classification:
Shipping Name: Self-heating solid, inorganic, n.o.s. (Activated Copper Oxide and Zinc
Oxide) Hazard Class: 4.2 UN ID: 3190 Packing Group: II
2. Because the quantity of adsorbent is less than 30grams, in most jurisdictions the ZPure Dual may
be shipped under the IATA rule for Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities, or under US DOT
49CFR 173.4, Small Quantity Exceptions.
3. If you wish to return a used filter for reconditioning, please contact your supplier for return
authorization and additional instructions.
