M006-06 – Rev. 01 – 05/2012 Aqua-Cleer MFP4-44 - MD – User 3
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Aqua-Cleer MFP 4-44 MD MD is designed to produce very pure
water for hemodialysis use in conjunction with artificial kidneys; it must
therefore be fed with water to be treated, having characteristics at least
suitable for potable use and treated through a prefiltration process
specially developed and created by Culligan, on the basis of appropriate
chemical analyses.
For the quality of product water, the Aqua-Cleer MFP 4-44 MD is
compatible with all artificial kidneys which, for the qualitative
characteristics of the inlet water, adopt AAMI standards. For the quantity
of product water it is compatible with all artificial kidneys which, overall,
are able to receive an equivalent water flow.
Due to its design, the Aqua-Cleer MFP 4-44 MD can only be used for
hospital dialysis by medical and/or auxiliary medical personnel.
OPERATING LIMITS AND TECHNICAL
CHARACTERISTICS
OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
ATTENTION
THE AQUA-CLEER MFP 4-44 MD IS DESIGNED
FOR USE IN THE ELECTROMAGNETIC
ENVIRONMENT GIVEN BELOW; THE USER
MUST THEREFORE ENSURE THAT THE
EQUIPMENT IS USED IN SUCH AN
ENVIRONMENT AND CONSIDER THIS
WHENEVER INTENDING TO INSTALL NEW
EQUIPMENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
AQUA-CLEER.
THE TABLES SECTION GIVES THE
ELECTROMAGNETIC CHARACTERISTICS THE
ENVIRONMENTS MUST COMPLY WITH FOR
CORRECT OPERATION OF THE MFP 4-44 MD..
ALSO, PORTABLE AND MOBILE RADIO
COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT CAN AFFECT
THE OPERATION OF THE AQUA-CLEER MFP 4-
44 MD.
OVERALL DIMENSIONS
- Width: see Table 1
- Depth: see Table 1
- Total height: see Table 1
- Shipping weight: see Table 1
ATTENTION
NEVER PLACE ANYTHING ON THE EQUIPMENT
OR PARTS OF IT.
CHARACTERISTICS OF WATER TO BE TREATED (permissible
values)
ATTENTION
THE AQUA CLEER MFP 4-44 MD IS DESIGNED
TO PRODUCE VERY PURE WATER; IT MUST
THEREFORE BE FED WITH RAW WATER,
WHOSE CHARACTERISTICS (NOT SPECIFIED
BELOW) ARE AT LEAST THOSE MAKING IT
SUITABLE FOR POTABLE USE.
-Max. salinity Aqua-Cleer MFP 4-44 MD model from 400 to 1600: 3000
mg/l (= TDS in ppm)
-Max. salinity Aqua-Cleer MFP 4-44 MD model from 2200 to 3300:
1500 mg/l (= TDS in ppm)
- Temporary hardness: 35°f
- S.D.I.: 3
- pH: 7 1
- Chlorine: 0.2 ppm
- Iron: 0.1 ppm
-Manganese: 0.05 ppm
-Calcium Sulfate: concentration in reject water below the solubility
limit
-Calcium Carbonate: Langelier index negative in reject water
-Silica: concentration in reject water below the solubility limit.
N.B.:
Calcium Sulfate, Calcium Carbonate and Silica:
the limits specified refer to the need to prevent
encrustant precipitation.
- Limit water temperature: 535°C
ATTENTION
AT TEMPERATURES BELOW OR ABOVE THE
FIXED LIMITS THE MEMBRANES MAY
UNDERGO PERMANENT PHYSICAL DAMAGE
- Feed water pressure: min. 29 psi (2 bar)
max. 43 psi (3 bar)
- Available feed flow rate: see Table 1
CHARACTERISTICS OF TREATED WATER INTENDED FOR THE
USER (SERVICE)
N.B.:
The user treated water flow rate parameter is
obtained as a function of various parameters:
temperature, operating pressure and recovery
ratio are the main ones.
The flow rates given above in the table are
obtained at a water temperature of approx. 20°C,
with a pressure of approx. 261 psi and 200 psi
(18 and 14 bar) according to the models,
recovery ratio of 75% and new osmosis module.
- Flow rate in normal operation: see Table 1
- Removal of salinity: ~ 96%
- Removal of organic matter
with molecular weight 200: ~100 %
- Removal of bacteria and pyrogens: ~99%
CHARACTERISTICS OF WATER TO BE SENT TO DRAIN
N.B.:
The drain water flow rate parameter is also
obtained as a function of various parameters:
temperature, operating pressure and recovery
ratio are the main ones:
The above flow rates are obtained at a water
temperature of approx. 10°C, with a pressure of
approx. 200 or 261 psi (14 or 18 bar) according
to the models, recovery ratio of 45% and no
longer new osmosis module.
- Max. flow rate: see Table 1
CHARACTERISTICS OF EQUIPMENT PLUMBING CONNECTIONS
(Figure 1)
The following plumbing connection fittings are arranged on the back
of the system:

Raw water inlet: 1”G female
-PRODUCT (PRODUCT OUTLET)
Outlet for osmosed water intended for user (service): ¾”G female
-DRAIN (REJECT OUTLET)
Drain water outlet: ¾”G female
