Company
Load King has been producing quality trailers since 1956. We are located in Elk Point, South Dakota.
Although the trailer industry is an ever‐changing environment and we’ve seen many changes over the years,
we have remained commied to the simple philosophy that we will make a reasonable profit through the
designing, manufacturing, and markeng of top quality products that we can always be proud to call Load
King. We have not, and will not, compromise in this area.
Quality shows in all facets of an operaon, from the moment you make your first phone call for a product
inquiry to the me you sell your used equipment and realize you’ve received top dollar on your sale. We
connue to strive for excellence in every area and never quit trying to improve. We have earned our

Through our shared Engineering, Markeng and Sales teams, Load King and Custom Truck One Source bring
that tradion of quality and value to another market with the Load King Scissor Hoist.
About Custom Truck One Source
Beginning in February of 2015, three family‐owned and operated companies (Custom Truck & Equipment,
Ulity Fleet Sales and Forestry Equipment of VA) joined together to form what is now Custom Truck One
Source. Shortly aer its incepon, UCO Equipment became a part of the CTOS family along with TNT
Equipment six months later. In December 2015, CTOS welcomed its sixth company under its brand, Load King,
a leading manufacturer of high‐quality and customizable trailers.
The announcement of the partnership represented the plaorm’s collecve commitment to the connued
growth and dominance of each legacy company’s individual offerings, now compounded to leverage the
experse of the team and, ulmately, beer serve loyal CTOS customers all over the world. CTOS will build
upon the market posions of each legacy company, while serving as a single source supplier of specialty
equipment and services for the ulity and heavy equipment industries. The ulity and heavy equipment
plaorm collecvely offers sales, rentals, parts and aer market services, remanufacturing, customized
equipment and transportaon.

OPERATORS MANUAL .
When using a Load King Scissor Hoist, it is important to have a good understanding of the proper pre‐
Inspecon, post‐inspecons, and operang guidelines. By following these steps, you can safely
operate the Load King Scissor Hoist with minimal risks of damage to the machine or the surrounding
property.
1. PRE‐USE INSPECTION:
1. Before using a Load King Scissor Hoist, do a 360 degree walk around to visually inspect that the
dump bed will be free of obstrucons once in operaon.
2. Be sure to check the oil sight gauge on the reservoir to ensure the tank is full and that no oil has
leaked out.
3. Visually inspect all crical fasteners to ensure there are no loose or damaged bolts, nuts, or other
hardware. Ensure that all lubricaon points have been well maintained and lubricated.
4. If any damage to body or hardware is observed, do not operate unl a thorough inspecon has
been conducted and all necessary repairs have been made.
2. PROPER OPERATION SEQUENCE:
DANGER: Choose an operang locaon where the bed can be fully raised without approaching
power lines or overhead structures, such as tree limbs or light poles.
2.1) To Dump:
1. Posion the chassis on level ground, away from potenal hazards such as power lines and traffic.
2. Turn on the chassis engine, set the parking brake, and engage the PTO switch located on the
center dash panel.
5. DANGER: Before operang the Scissor Hoist, ensure all bystanders are kept well away from the
area of operaon. Do not allow anyone to stand behind loaded Scissor Hoist. Do not operate in
high traffic areas. Operator must stay at controls through enre process, away from all moving
parts, and shielded from road traffic or other potenal hazards.
6. Raise the hoist to the upright posion and dump cargo.

7. DANGER: NEVER place arms, hands, or other body parts under the hoist while running. NEVER
allow anyone under the hoist while in the raised posion without the hoist securely resng on the
body prop. Before lowering the hoist, ALWAYS ensure no people, animals, tools, or other debris
are under the body.
8. Lower the hoist to resng posion.
9. Disengage PTO.
2.2) Using Hoist’s Body Prop:
1. With the body unloaded, raise the hoist and shut offthe power.
2. DANGER: The body prop should never be used when the body is loaded. The body prop should
only be used when the body is completely unloaded.
3. WARNING: When reaching for prop while body is raised, keep yourself as far from underneath
the body as possible.
4. Rotate the body prop to the vercal posion, and push down unl it locks in the upright posion,
asshownbelow.
5. Lower the hoist unl it is safely resng on the body prop.

3. POST OPERATION INSPECTION:
1. Complete a 360 degree walk around to ensure there has been no hydraulic leaks during operaon.
2. Visually inspect all crical components and fasteners to ensure they were not damaged or
loosened during operaons.
SAFETY INFORMATION .
For the operator’s protecon, there are warning labels and safety devices on the Load King Scissor
Hoist that are NOT to be tampered with or removed. It is important for the operator to read all
warning labels before operang the Load King Scissor Hoist. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure
that the operator and workers on and around the Scissor Hoist understand all of the safety warnings
herein and affixed to the machine. Do not operate Scissor Hoist if safety labels are missing or
damaged
1. WARNING: Do not modify the hydraulic system in any way. Altering the hydraulic system
increases the risk of operator injury and structural harm. Removing, altering or bypassing any
hydraulic component directly violates and voids the warranty.
2. WARNING: The warning and safety labels must be legible. These labels must not be removed or
altered in anyway. These labels are important direcons to ensure that neither workers, nor the
Scissor Hoist get damaged during working operaons or traveling. The pictures in the following
secon show the decals and their locaons. Operang the unit with illegible or missing safety
labels is a direct violaon of the intended use of the unit and voids the warranty.
3. DANGER: NEVER place arm, hands, or other body parts under the body while running. Never go
under a raised body for any reason without the body resng securely on the body prop. Body prop
should be checked regularly, and should not be used if damaged. Body prop should be used with
empty body only.
4. DANGER: Keep all body parts away from moving parts. Do not aempt to manually stop or
restrain any moving parts.
5. DANGER: This Scissor Hoist is a piece of heavy machinery and should be treated as such. Do not
operate while fagued, under the influence of any medicaon which may impair your ability to
operate the machinery safely, or while otherwise impaired.
6. DANGER: Always be aware of your surroundings when operang Scissor Hoist. Do not operate in
crowded areas, areas of high traffic, or areas with overhead obstacles, especially power lines. Do
not allow anyone to stand behind the Scissor Hoist during operaon.

7. DANGER: Do not move truck with bed in the upright posion, or without the tailgate latched.
Doing so could lead to collisions with overhead obstacles or dangerous shiing of loaded
materials.
8. WARNING: Do not overload. Be mindful of Gross Vehicle Weight Rang of your truck, as well as
local laws regarding vehicle weight in your area. Distribute loads evenly in bed to prevent
unexpected weight shis, and be mindful of the effects of increased payload weight on the driving
characteriscs of your vehicle.
9. CAUTION: Do not drive truck with PTO engaged. This may result in serious damage to chassis
and hydraulic systems.
11. Load King is not responsible for any loss or damage resulng from operators neglect of the safety
informaon provided.

INSTALLATION .
1. Install lower pivot arm sha(1) into the lower tube of the scissor hoist (2), as shown below.
2. Insert the hoist’s lower pivot arm (1) into the channels on the subframe (2), and secure them with the
proper hardware.

3. Weld the 3/8” spacer as shown below, posioned as far forward on the subframe rail as possible.
4. If necessary, the frame extensions 1034528 and 1034529 (see breakdown on page 12‐13) can be added to
thesubframe.
5. Hoist and subframe assembly need to be installed on the truck frame according to the table and image

6. Using the diagrams below, locate the ideal mounng angle locaon that best fits your applicaon.
7. Drill two holes in the chassis frame and bolt the mounng angles as shown below.

8. Weld the mounng angles to the subframe rail as shown below. Ensure that the mounng angle is welded
to the subframe in the “CRITICAL WELD AREA” located below the lower pivot arm, as shown in the image
below. Do not weld the mounng angles to the chassis frame.
9. Weld the rear pivot angle to the chassis frame as shown below. Any excess frame scking out passed the
rear pivot angle should be cut off.

10. Slide the spacer collar (1) onto the shaof the body lifoot (2), and slide the lifoot’s shainto the
upper hoist tube (3). Repeat on the other side of the hoist.
11. Install the body guide plates on both sides of the subframe, in one of the two locaons shown below.

12. Place the frame rails of the body onto the hoist subframe. Posion the body in the correct locaon and
weld the subframes rear pivots to the frame rails of the body as shown below.
13. Posion each lifoot against the inside of the frame rail of the body and weld them together as shown
below.
14. Once the lifoot and body are welded together, slide the lifoot’s lock collar up against the upper tube
of the hoist and secure it using the set screw.

LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE .
Lubricate grease zerks in all locaons shown below (8 total). Locaonsindicatedwithredarrowsbelow
CAUTION: ALL grease zerks are to be topped offprior to first use and every month following.
