The DIS-200G Series Layer 2 Gigabit Industrial Smart Managed Switches Hardware Installation Guide contains
detailed information about the hardware specifications of the switches in this series. It also contains brief information
on how to configure and manage a switch in this series. This manual is intended for advanced level users that are
familiar with network management concepts and terminology. For all practical reasons, all the switches in this series
will simply be referred to as the ‘switch’ throughout this manual.

Safety Cautions
To greatly reduce the risk of physical injury, electrical shock, fire, and damage to equipment, observe the following
precautions.
Observe and follow service markings.
•Do not attempt to service any product, except when it is explained in the system’s documentation.
•Opening or removing covers, marked with a high voltage sign, may expose the user to electrical shock.
•Only a trained service technician should service components inside these compartments.
If any of the following conditions occur, unplug the product from the electrical outlet and replace the part or contact
your trained service provider:
•Damage to the power cable, extension cable, or plug.
•An object has fallen into the product.

•The product has been exposed to water.
•The product has been dropped or damaged.
•The product does not operate correctly when the operating instructions are correctly followed.
General safety cautions:
•Keep the system away from radiators and heat sources. Also, do not block cooling vents.
•Do not spill food or liquids on system components, and never operate the product in a wet environment. If the
system gets wet, contact your trained service provider.
•Do not push any objects into the openings of the system. Doing so can cause fire or electric shock by shorting
out interior components.
•Only use this product with approved equipment.
•Allow the product to cool before removing the cover or touching internal components.
•Operate the product only from the type of external power source indicated on the electrical ratings label. If you
are unsure which type of power source is required, consult your service provider or local power company.
•Be sure that attached devices are electrically rated to operate with the power available in your location.
•Use only approved power cable(s). If you have not been provided with a power cable for your system or for
any AC-powered option intended for your system, purchase a power cable that is approved for use in your
country. The power cable must be rated for the product and for the voltage and current marked on the
product's electrical ratings label. The voltage and current rating of the cable should be greater than the ratings
marked on the product.
•To help prevent electric shock, plug the system and peripheral power cables into properly grounded electrical
outlets. These cables are equipped with three-prong plugs to help ensure proper grounding. Do not use
adapter plugs or remove the grounding prong from a cable. If using an extension cable is necessary, use a 3-
wire cable with properly grounded plugs.
•Observe the extension cable and power strip ratings. Make sure that the total ampere rating of all products
plugged into the extension cable or power strip does not exceed 80 percent of the ampere ratings limit for the
extension cable or power strip.
•To help protect the system from sudden, transient increases and decreases in electrical power, use a surge
suppressor, line conditioner, or uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
•Position system cables and power cables carefully. Route cables so that they cannot be stepped on or tripped
over. Be sure that nothing rests on any cables.
•Do not modify power cables or plugs. Consult a licensed electrician or your power company for site
modifications. Always follow your local or national wiring rules.
•Do not store this device in an environment where the temperature may go below -40 °C or above 75 °C. This
device should be kept in a controlled environment.
•This product is to be connected only to PoE networks without routing to the ouside plant.
•This equipment provides eight RJ-45 ports with PoE functionality. Ports 1 to 8 can deliver a maximum of 30 W
of PoE output power. The total PoE output power budget is 240 W.
Restricted access location
Location for equipment where both of the following apply:
•Access can only be gained by SERVICE PERSONS or by USERS who have been instructured about the
reasons for the restrictions applied to the location and about any precautions that be taken; and
•Access is through the use of a TOOL or lock and key, or other means of security, and is controlled by the
authority responsible for the location.
When connecting or disconnecting power to and from hot-pluggable power supplies, observe the following guidelines:
•Install the power supply before connecting the power cable to the power supply.
•Unplug the power cable before removing the power supply.
•If the system has multiple sources of power, disconnect the power from the system by unplugging all power
cables from the power supplies.
•Move products with care and ensure that all casters and stabilizers are firmly connected to the system. Avoid
sudden stops and uneven surfaces.
To help avoid damage to the system, be sure that the voltage selection of the switch and on the power supply, is set
to match the power available at the switch’s location:
•115V/60Hz is used mostly in North and South America as well as Far Eastern countries like as South Korea
and Taiwan
•100V/50Hz is used mostly in Eastern Japan and 100V/60Hz in Western Japan
•230V/50Hz is used mostly in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East

General Precautions for Rack-Mountable Products
Please pay careful attention to the following precautions concerning rack stability and safety. Systems are considered
to be components in a rack. Thus, a component refers to any system, as well as to various peripherals or supporting
hardware:
CAUTION: Installing systems in a rack without the front and side stabilizers installed could cause the
rack to tip over, potentially resulting in bodily injury under certain circumstances. Therefore, always
install the stabilizers before installing components in the rack. After installing system/components in a
rack, never pull more than one component out of the rack on its slide assemblies at one time. The
weight of more than one extended component could cause the rack to tip over and may result in
serious injury.
•Before working on the rack, make sure that the stabilizers are secured to the rack, extended to the floor, and
that the full weight of the rack rests on the floor. Install front and side stabilizers on a single rack or front
stabilizers for joined multiple racks before working on the rack.
•Always load the rack from the bottom up, and load the heaviest item in the rack first.
•Make sure that the rack is level and stable before extending a component from the rack.
•Use caution when pressing the component rail release latches and sliding a component into or out of a rack;
the slide rails can pinch your fingers.
•After a component is inserted into the rack, carefully extend the rail into a locking position, and then slide the
component into the rack.
•Do not overload the AC supply branch circuit that provides power to the rack. The total rack load should not
exceed 80 percent of the branch circuit rating.
•Ensure that proper airflow is provided to components in the rack.
•Do not step on or stand on any component when servicing other components in a rack.
CAUTION: Never defeat the ground conductor or operate the equipment in the absence of a suitably
installed ground conductor. Contact the appropriate electrical inspection authority or an electrician if
uncertain that suitable grounding is available.
CAUTION: The system chassis must be positively grounded to the rack cabinet frame. Do not
attempt to connect power to the system until grounding cables are connected. Completed power and
safety ground wiring must be inspected by a qualified electrical inspector. An energy hazard will exist
if the safety ground cable is omitted or disconnected.
Protecting Against Electrostatic Discharge
Static electricity can harm delicate components inside the system. To prevent static damage, discharge static
electricity from your body before touching any of the electronic components, such as the microprocessor. This can be
done by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface on the chassis.
The following steps can also be taken prevent damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD):
•When unpacking a static-sensitive component from its shipping carton, do not remove the component from
the antistatic packing material until ready to install the component in the system. Just before unwrapping the
antistatic packaging, be sure to discharge static electricity from your body.
•When transporting a sensitive component, first place it in an antistatic container or packaging.
•Handle all sensitive components in a static-safe area. If possible, use antistatic floor pads, workbench pads
and an antistatic grounding strap.

Switch Description
The DIS-200G Series Layer 2 Gigabit Industrial Smart Managed Switches are equipped with 8 standard or PoE-
capable 10/100/1000BASE-T ports (PS/PSW models), 2 10/100/1000BASE-T ports, and 2 SFP ports. These switches
feature a robust design capable of withstanding the harshest environments, making them ideal for deployment in
industrial and outdoor cabinet surveillance settings. The DIS-200G Series furthermore integrates advanced
management and security functions to provide a complete solution.
The DIS-200G Series consists of the following switch models: DIS-200G-12S, DIS-200G-12SW, DIS-200G-12PS, and
DIS-200G-12PSW. Some features, throughout this guide, will apply to all the switches within the DIS-200G Series
while certain feature are exclusive to specific models.
Package Contents
Open the shipping carton of the switch and carefully unpack its contents. The carton should contain the following
items:
•One DIS-200G Series switch
•One Quick Installation Guide
•One DIN rail mounting kit
•One wall mounting kit
•One RJ-45-to-serial console cable
•One CD containing the user manual

Front Panel Components
Below is an overview of the interface present on all switch models in the DIS-200G series.

Ports that can be found on the front panel of this switch are listed in the table below.
LED Description
1 Reset This the reset button which is used to perform a factory reset.
2 Console This is a console port which is used to connect to the DIS-200G switch using a RJ-45 to
serial cable.
3 Ports 1 - 10 These are 10/100/1000 Mbps ports that can be used to connect to any device using a
standard Category 5/5e RJ-45 Ethernet cable.
4 Ports 11 - 12 These are 1 Gbps SFP ports that can be used to connect to other switches using
compatible SFP adapters and fiber cable.
For a complete list of SFP transceivers that are compatible with this switch, refer to the Supported Transceivers
section in Appendix A - Technical Specifications.

PoE Budget 75 Solid green The power budget is between 100 and 75%.
PoE Budget 50 Solid green The power budget is between 75 and 50%.
PoE Budget 25 Solid green The power budget is between 50 and 25%.
Solid amber The power budget is between 25 and 0%, but still has more than
15.4 W of power remaining.
Blinking amber The power budget is between 25 and 0%, and has less than 15.4 W
of power remaining.
2 Left: Ports 1 - 10 Solid green Port is connected at 1 Gbps.

Installation Guidelines
This section will discuss the hardware installation guidelines that the user must follow in order to properly and safely
install this switch into the appropriate environment.
•Visually inspect the power cord and see that it is fully secured to both the power connector on the switch, and
to the electrical outlet that supplies power.
•Install the switch in a fairly cool and dry place within the acceptable operating temperature and humidity
ranges. For more information about the acceptable operating temperature and humidity ranges, refer to the
Physical and Environmental section.
•Install the switch in a site free from strong electromagnetic field generators such as motors, vibration, dust,
and direct exposure to sunlight.
Mounting the Switch onto a DIN Rail
Before beginning either mounting or removing the DIS-200G from a DIN rail, please ensure that the DIN rail is level
and that the DIN rail mounting kit is installed correctly on the DIS-200G switch.
Use the following instructions to install the DIS-200G switch on a DIN rail.
1. With the back of the switch facing the DIN rail, lower the top part of the rail mounting kit onto the DIN rail.
2. Push the switch vertically down and rotate the bottom of the switch towards the DIN rail to attach the switch to
the DIN rail.
Use the following instructions to remove the DIS-200G switch from a DIN rail.
1. Push the switch vertically down to create space at the bottom of the rail mounting to remove the switch from the
DIN rail.
2. Rotate the switch upwards to remove the bottom of the rail mounting kit from the rail, and lift the switch upwards
to remove the whole of the switch from the DIN rail.
Mounting the Switch on a Wall
The DIS-200G switch can be installed on a solid surface by using the included wall mounting plates attached to the
back of the switch. It can also be mounting using the in-built screw hooks on the underneath of the Switch.
Using the Wall Mounting Brackets
Use the following instructions to install the DIS-200G switch on a wall:
1. Remove the DIN rail mounting from the back of the switch (if present).
2. Align the cross-section of the mounting plates with the openings on the back of the switch and secure the plates
to the switch with the included screws.

3. Place the switch with the mounting brackets installed on the location where you want to mount it, and use the
mounting brackets as a guide to mark where to drill the screw holes.
4. Drill holes on the marks and insert wall anchors appropriate for the material of the wall.
5. Align the switch with the wall anchors and secure the switch to the wall using the appropriate screws for the wall
anchors.
Using the Screw Hooks
Use the following instructions to mount the DIS-200G switch on a wall using the screw hooks on the underneath of the
switch.
1. Mark two points on the surface where you wish to mount the switch 60 mm apart.
2. Drill holes on the marks and insert wall anchors appropriate for the material of the wall.
3. Insert screws into the wall anchors, leaving roughly 4.50 mm of distance from the wall for the switch to be
mounted.
4. Mount the switch on the screws using the screw hooks on the underneath of the switch.

Installing the Switch into a Rack
The DIS-200G switch can be mounted in a standard 19” server rack by using the included rack mounting brackets
(optional).
Use the following instructions to mount the DIS-200G switch on a wall using the screw hooks on the underneath of the
switch
1. Attach the included mounting brackets to each side of the switch using the provided screws.

2. Use the screws that were provided with the rack to install the switch in the rack.

Make sure that there is adequate space around the switch to allow for proper air flow, ventilation, and cooling.
Grounding the Switch
To use the DIS-200G switch safely, it needs to be grounded. Please complete these steps before powering on the
switch.
Use the following instructions to ground the DIS-200G switch:
1. Remove the grounding screw from the top of the DIS-200G and place the grounding cable lug ring on top of the
grounding screw opening.

2. Insert the grounding screw back into the grounding screw opening and use a screwdriver to tighten the
grounding screw, securing the grounding cable to the switch.
3. Attach the terminal lug ring at the other end of the grounding cable to an appropriate grounding source.
4. Verify that the connection between the grounding connector on the switch and the grounding source is secure.
Installing Transceivers into the Transceiver Ports
The switch is equipped with Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) ports that can be used to connect various other
networking devices to this switch that do not support the standard RJ-45 wiring connection. These ports are generally
used to connect this switch to optical fiber connections and can be used to connect devices to the switch over great
distances. The maximum distance that the RJ-45 wiring connection can reach is 100 meters. Fiber optic connections
can span several kilometers.
The figure below illustrates how to properly insert SFP transceivers into the switch’s SFP ports.

The SFP ports also support other transceiver form factors like SFP transceivers. A complete list of SFP transceivers,
compatible with this switch, can be found in the Supported Transceivers section in Appendix A - Technical
Specifications at the end of this document.

Connecting to a Power Source
The.DIS-200G Series switches can be powered using a power adapter (optional) or by using the built-in terminal
connector. This allows dual power inputs using wires from the power source(s) screwed into the terminal connections.
Note: Inclusion of the power adapter is optional and may not be included in the package.
Using the Power Adapter (Optional)
Use the following instructions to power the switch using the power adapter (optional):
1. Connect the power adapter (if included) to the power connector on the back of the switch. Connect the other end
of the power adapter to a main power source.

Using the Terminal Connections
Before proceeding, ensure that all power sources have been disconnected from the switch, including the power
source you are wiring to the switch.
Use the following instructions to power the switch using the terminal connections:
1. Before continuing, consult the diagram below to decide which wires from the power source need to connect to
which contacts on the terminal block. Note that two power sources can be used; one inserted into V1-/V1+
(labeled PWR 1) and the other inserted into V2-/V2+ (labeled PWR2). This diagram is also provided on the
switch itself.

2. Use a lever to remove the terminal block from the switch.

3. Using a flat head screwdriver, loosen the connections in the terminal block by unscrewing the terminals
connections that you wish to use.
4. Insert the wires into the terminal connections and use the screwdriver to tighten the screws to secure the wires.

5. Re-insert the terminal block into the terminal block socket on the switch.
Redundant Power Design
A power source can be connected to the power input on the back, and to PWR 1 and PWR 2 on the terminal block at
the same time. The power source that is connected first to the switch will automatically be designated as the main
power source. Any additional power sources connected afterwards will be designated redundant power sources.
When one of the power source is behaving abnormally or fails, the alarm relay and ALM LED will be triggered. There
is no order or hierarchy for determining active and redundant power sources. For example, if the first power source is
connected to PWR 2, the switch will consider this the main power source. If a power source is then connected to the
power input on the back and to PWR 1 on the terminal block, these will be designated as backup power sources.
Please note that multiple power sources connected to the switch cannot supply power to the Switch at the same time.
For example, when two 120 W power sources are connected to PWR1 and PWR2 on the switch, the switch will only
take 120 W power from the power source that was connected first, while the second power source serves as a
backup.

Switch to an End Node
An end node is a generic name for edge networking devices that will be connected to this switch. Typical examples of
end nodes are Personal Computers (PCs), Notebooks, Access Points, IP cameras and more. Each end node should
be fitted with a 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 networking port. Normally, end nodes will connect to this switch by using a
standard twisted-pair UTP/STP network cable. When a successful connection is established, the corresponding port
light will illuminate and blink to indicate that network activity is taking place on that port.
The diagram below displays a typical end node connected to the switch.

Switch to Another Switch
The switch can be used to connect to any other switch or hub in the network. This network topology is used when the
switch does not have enough ports to cater for all the end nodes in the network.
There is a great deal of flexibility on how connections are made using the appropriate cabling.
•Connect a 10BASE-T switch port to the switch via a twisted-pair Category 3, 4, or 5 UTP/STP cable.
•Connect a 100BASE-TX switch port to the switch via a twisted pair Category 5 UTP/STP cable.
•Connect a 1000BASE-T switch port to the switch via a twisted pair Category 5e UTP/STP cable.
•Connect a switch supporting a fiber-optic uplink to the switch’s SFP ports via fiber-optic cabling.
