3 Unplug this television equipment from the wall

Installing your remote control batteries

oriented correctly.

Do not mix different types of batteries, or mix an old and a new battery.
Remove and replace weak batteries. Weak batteries can leak and damage ?'oar controller. Dispose
of batteries properly; never throw them into a fire.
Point your remote at the receiver on the center of the front of the TV. Make sure the receiver is not
blocked.
The remote control can operate np to 30 feet away from the TV, if you are directly ±:acingthe front
of the TV. Operating distance diminishes as you move to the sides of the TV.

Connecting an Antenna or Cable to Your TV
Yottr TV will provide you with the best perfomlance if you connect it to an external antenna or
cable system. Follow the directions below make this connection. Please note that you will nomlally
only have to make one of the connections shown below, not all of them.
All connections will be made to the antemla tenninal on the back of yottr TV. The anterma tenninal
is a silver metal post partially sturounded by two plastic tabs. For help in locating the anterma tenni-
hal, see "Your TV's Back Panel" on page 5.
Connecting an Antenna

If your antenna ends in asingle coaxial lead, smlply
press or screw the cable onto the antenna terlninal on the
back of your TV.
If your antenna ends in a pair of 300 ohm t_in leads, you must use a 300-olm_ 75-olnn
adapter(available at your local electronics store). Place the leads underneath the screws on the
adapter, tighten the screws, then press the adapter onto the antelma tenninal on the back of the TV.

Antennas with two sets of leads
You might have two sets of leads from your antemla system, especially if you have one antama for
VHF signals and one antemla for UHF signals.
If your antenna system has both acoaxial lead and h_in 300-ohm leads, you must obtain a combin-
er (available at your local electronics store). Press or screw the coaxial lead omo the colnbmer; place
the twin leads mldemeath the screws on the combiner and tighten the screws. Press the cable from
colnbiner onto the antelma temlinal on the back of your TV.
If your antenna s3_tem has hvo sets of twin 300-ohm leads, you must obtain a combiner (available
at your local electronics store). Place one set of twin leads underneath the screws on the combiner
and tighten the screws. Do the same with the other set of twin leads. Press the cable from the com-
biner onto antemla tem_inal on the back of yottr TV.
Connecting a cable system

contact your cable company for more infomaation.
If your cable system does not require the use of a
cable box, simply press or screw the incoming cable
onto the antelma temlinal on the back yottr 15L

If your cable system requires you to use a converter box for all channels, comlect the incoming
cable to the IN temlinal on the converter box. Comlect another cable between the OUT terminal on
the converter box and the antelma temlinal on the TV. You will need to keep your IV tuned to
chalmel 3 or 4 and change chalmels using the converter box.
If your cable system only requires you to use aconverter box for sonle channels (i. e.pay-TV
channels) follow these steps: Find the prilnary incoming coaxial cable. Plug this cable into a splitter
(available at your local electronics store). Colmect one coaxial cable between one OUT terlninal on
the splitter and the IN temlinal on the converter box. Colmect another coaxial cable between the
other OUT terminal on the splitter and the B-IN temlinal on an AB switch (available at your local
electronics store.) Colmect a third coaxial cable beaveen the OUT temlinal on the converter box and
the A-IN terminal on the AB switch. Finally, comlect a coaxial cable between the OUT tem_inal on
the AiB switch and the antelma temlinal on the back of your TV.

VJhen the A'B switch is in the A position, you need to change chalmels on the converter box (and
your TV should be tuned to chalmel 3 or 4): when the A'B switch is in the B position you can
change chalmels on the TV.
Connecting Other Pieces of Equipment
You 1nay want to comlect a VCR, laser disc player, satellite receiver, or another type of equipment
to },our TV. \Ve reconnnend that you follow the instructions included with the piece of equipment
you wish to colmect.
Safety Note
If you plan on being away from yottr home for an extended period of time. or if a thtmderstoml is
approaching, you should tulplug yottr telex ision, and you may wish to discolmect your TV from a
rooftop or satellite antelma. You do not need to discomlect },our TV from a cable system.

Programming Your TV's Channel Memory
YOtLrTV's memory detemlines the chamlels that are available using the ACHT buttons. Ifa chan-
nel isnot m memo_, you can ttme to it with the nmnber buttons, but not with the • CH • buttons.
Follow these steps to pro_mn yotLrTV's memo_:
1With the TV on, press the MEix._Tbutton twice, then "Set-Up"menn will appear.
2Use the •CH• buttons to select "Reception". then use the IVOL_ buttons to select 'Air' or
'Cable'. If you comlected an antama to yottr TV. select 'Air': If you colmected a cable system.
select 'Cable'.
3Use the •CH• buttons to select "Memolize Chalmels", then use the IVOL_ buttons to enter
the "Memorize ChamMs" process. Again press the .IVOL_- buttons to begin.
4Press the MEix.ZTbutton to realm to Set-Up menu.
5 Press the MEix.KTbutton three times to remm to nonnal IA" viewing.
Your TV's chamlel memol T will not be affected by apower outage. You will not need to re-program
the memory mfless you change the _pe of cable or antama coanected to yonr TV.

You can change channels in three ways:
1 The • CH • bretons will take you through all memorized chmmels.
one by one. The •CH• bnttons will not access channels that have
not been programlned into the TV's memoo'. For more infommtion
about progranaming chmmels into memo_', see the section
"Progamming yottr TV's Chmmel MemoD"' on the previous page.
2The nmnber buttons (0-9) will take you to any channel, even if it has
not been memorized. To change to a channel, enter its ntunber: the
TV will ttme to the new charmel when you enter the second digit of
the channel.
3The PREVIOUS button will take you instantly to the last channel
you were watching.

Changing the TV's Channel Memory
Yottr TV's memol T detemmles the chamMs that are available using the •('HT buttons. You can
add charmels to this lnelnory or remove them froln memory. If a chalmel is removed from memo W,
you can ttme to it with the mnnber buttons, but you caralot tune to it with the • CHT bretons.
If there are just one chmmel memorized, then the Add Delete ChamMs ftmction will search the
whole chalmels. But if there are txxs_or more chmmel memorized, then the Add Delete Chmmels
ftmction will search the memorized chmmels only.
Adding/Deleting a channel to memory
1Use the ntmlber buttons to ame to the chalmel.
2Press the MENq_Tbutton hvice, then "Set-Up"menu will display.
3Use the •CHv buttons to select "Add'Delete Chmmels", then use the <VOL_- buttons to
enter the "Add Delete Charmels" process.
4 Ifthe chalmel is not in memou, then use the IVOLI_ buttons to add the channel from memols.,
5 If the chamlel is in memory, then use the <VOL_- buttons to delete the cham_el from memory.
6Ifyou are going to delete other chmmel, then press the •CHv buttons until desired charmelis
selected. And press the <VOL_- buttons to delete the charmel.
7Wait 10seconds, or press the MEiX'Ubntton to remm to nomlal TV viewing.

Changing the TV's Input
Nomlally your TV displays the signal coming through the antelma terminal. However If you've
colmected another component to yotLrTV(such as a VCR) using the Video/Audio input, you will
want to be able to view the signal from the component.
To do this, you will need to switch from the 'TV' input to the ' Line 'Input, as follows.
1 With the TV on, press the MEJx.'LTbutton twice, then" Set-Up" menu will appear.
2 Use the ACHv buttons to select" Input ".
3 Press the <VOL, buttons to change from 'TV' to 'Line '.
4 Wait 10 seconds, or press the MENU button to remm to nomlal TV viewing.

Adjusting Video Settings
You may wish to actinst the video settings (e. g. contrast or color) to obtain the most pleasing pic-
tare. To do so, follow these directions:
1 With the TV on, press the MENU button, then "Video" menu will appear.
2The "Settings" item will be selected. Use the .<VOL, buttons to Run Settings to Preset or
(ustom.
3Usethe ACHv buttons to select the video setting you wish to ac[iust. Descriptions ofthevideo
settings are on the next page.
4 Use the <VOL, buttons to ac[iust the video setting to the level you prefer.
5 Usethe ACHv bnttons to select another video setting to acliust.
6When you are finished, press the MENrUbutton to retunl to nom_al TV viewing.

Returning to the factory settings
If you would like to retmn to the original video settings as they were calibrated at the l;actory fol-
low these steps :
1 With the TV on, press the MENU button, then "Video" menu will appear.
2PressthelVOL, buttonstosetthe"Settings"to'Preset'.
The TV will remember the 'Custom' settings you had previously chosen. When you set "Settings"
to 'Custom' again, your previous custom settings will be restored.

Descriptions of video settings
The contrast setting controls the relation between the light and black areas of the screen. If the light
areas are too bright and are losing details, press the IVOL button: if the pictttre is gay and lacks
contrast, press the VOL • button.
The brighmess settings controls the overall amotmt of light in the picatre. If the picatre is too bright,
press the IVOL button: if the picture is too dark, press the VOL • button.
Sharpness controls how the TV displays edges of objects on-screen. If the TV shows multiple verti-
cal lines at the edges of an ol_iect, press the IVOL button: if the vertical edges of on-screen o[!iects
are fi_zzy, press the VOL • button.
The color setting controls the intensib" of color. If the color is oxer-samrated, press the _ VOL but-
ton: if the color is washed out, press the VOL_ button.
The tint setting controls the relationship of red and _een in a picture. Tint is especially noticeable in
flesh tones. If flesh tones seem too red or purple, press the VOL • button: if flesh tones are too
green, press the IVOL button.

Using Timer Functions
Yottr TV has abuilt in-clock, and you can set the TV to am1 on and offat times that you select. You
can also set yottr TV to mm offaffer cotmting down a certain amotmt of time.
Setting the Clock
1 WiththeTV aimed on, press theMENU buttontmtil"Time" lneul.lwill be displayed.
2 The "Set Clock" itemwill be selected.Pressthe <VOL_- buttonsto set theclock.
If you holddowneither <VOL orVOL_-button, thecorresponding ntmlberswill changemore
quickly.
3 Whenthe clockis set correctly,usethe ACHT buttons to selectanother"Tilne" ffmction,or
pressthe MENUbutton to remmto normalTV viewing.

If yon enter a time in the "Wake-Up time' setting yottr TV will automatically ttml on at that time.
Follow these instructions to set the "Wake-Up time".
After Wake-up Timer tttrned on the TV set. if user do not input the user control (e.g. remote CH or
VOL key) within 15 minutes, the TV set will turn offantomatically. If user input the user control
within 15 milmtes, the TV set will turn on continuously.
